Living with family who believe that you deserve to die

i always had a problem with the idea that everyone except jw`s deserves to die at armageddon.

i used to think; "what about all the really nice people?

mrs so and so, my magazine call.

My husband likes to toss this out when he is feeling especially overwhelmed by my "worldliness." Something about how it saddens him that I'm going to die at Armegeddon. I keep wondering why he is so freaked out about it when I could get in the car and die today. The same result would happen according to JW: I wouldn't be his wife in the new system. So why worry about tomorrow or what "could" happen. Religion in general likes to mitigate their guilt over acting a certain way by talking about some future life. Hey, wake up, what about the here and now?

JWs like to pat themselves on the back for their horrendous treatment of others thinking that they will get a pass into the new system for treating people like they aren't worthy of the oxygen they breath. One word: Dillusional!

MY WITNESS FRIEND DIED

further to this topic i started a few weeks ago: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/124404/1.ashx i just found out that she died the other night.

we hadn't been close in a number of years, due to me becoming inactive, but i remember alot of the good times too.

she was older than me and offered to study with me when i was 14, which led to my getting baptized.. i remember that she tried for several years to get pregnant, and how happy she was when she finally conceived.

Wow. Wow. I wonder how the elders will react when they see this? I wonder what the society literature has to say about fitting in by giving gifts around Christmas time that aren't "Christmas" presents.

What XMas Present Would You Like This Year???

one thing that jws do, whether they were "strong in the truth" or not is accept presents.

even if they don't "celebrate" thanksgiving, they'd still take the turkey from the employer.

if someone sent out a birthday gift or christmas present, a witness would still take but never givein return.

Well, I would wake up on Christmas morning and my dh would say "Honey, I finally see that JWs are not God's channel on earth.

Materialistically, I would love a Mini Cooper convertible. I would love to be invited by royalty to photograph their families in their castles in Europe. Pay for my room/board/transportation and I'll do the shoot free, LOL! I've photographed celebrities and it's not all that, but there is something so exciting to me about photographing in such a beautiful location with such a different culture from my own.

I've gotten my girls various things for Christmas. But Santa is bringing them a lot of neat outdoor toys. Here is the one I think they will love the most (you can go inside the ball and roll around or push each other around):

i have not sent mine out yet....but i will be leaving town next week, so i will likely be sending it this weekend.

I sent mine a week ago via USPS to someone here in the US. I'm not sure if they got it.

Should we be posting that we at least GOT our present so that our SS knows that got it. We don't have to open it or reveal our SS, but I think writing a quick post that we got it would ease the mind of the sender.

i know a lot of song threads have been posted but i am interested in what and why a particular song moves you to keep going when you have lost so much.. if possible find the lyrics to the song and post them along with your what song and why it was so important.

as a kid i had an old 78 record player that i had to wind up to play (i did say old.

) there was one old record that had a song by ed ames 'the impossible dream" i was in foster care and had no contact with my family.

When I left, there were many reasons, but primarily I didn't want to be responsible for wrecking any more lives, especially my childrens'. So this song sums up The Reason I gave up everything and started over.

JW Children and the absence of Christmas

ive just collected my 6 year old son from school.

he sat in the back of the car and told me about a little girl from the year above him who has to leave her classroom and sit in his due to christmassy things going on.

my youngster remarked "she doesnt believe in christmas.

The memories for me are so painful that it is hard for me to even recall them w/o crying and I'm in my 30's! This is one of the main reasons I took a stand and left the borg; I refused to abuse my children by forcing them to become the outcasts. If they want to take a stand and be different when they are older (like in college) that is their choice. But I will not be part of any organization that hurts children. Period.

When I was in third grade the JWs added insult to injury. They "pursuaded" my parents to make me and two other JW kids in my grade to get up in front of the entire grade and give a "witness" as to why we didn't believe in Christmas as part of the Christmas around the World activities our grade did in December. So not only couldn't I participate in any of the other religious activities, I had to shove mine done everyone elses' throats.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through what you did. JW's don't value women anymore then animals. I believe there was an actual Watchtower article that compared women to cows. Your ex was treating you like he'd been taught to treat women.

The crazy thing to me is that we sat back and took it for so long. There was this line in the movie Titanicin which Rose said that she felt like she was standing in a crowded room screaming at the top of her lungs and not one person flinched. We all felt like we were "settling." We felt like we should put up with it for the greater good. Inside though, we were dying and that knot in the bottom of our stomach wouldn't go away no matter how many times we tried to tell ourselves that we were valued.

My heart goes out to you as you slowly heal from such a painful experience. There is a beautiful life after JWs. You will get through this and you will be a stronger woman because of it. If you choose to do so, there will be plenty of kind, gentle-hearted men out there who will treat you like royalty.
