Does anyone know what a first "Bible" study with a jehovahs witness would involve?...i.e..which passages of the Bible would be used, how would the study be conducted, which questions would be asked etc...also would other texts, or books be used?..What is the usual topic or subject of a first or first few studys?

first Bible/book! study
by luffy inhaving posted here in the past, and having gained much useful and appreciated advise, my ex and i are still in contact, and stuck in as many of you warned, a deadlock.
he hoping i will come round to the witness way of "thinking" and i hoping that he will wake up and smell the roses!..
i am reluctant to give up on the relationship, and feel that as he approaches the two year mark since being baptised as a witness, he is beginning to show cracks and is weakening in his stance.

I am reluctant to give up on the relationship, and feel that as he approaches the two year mark since being baptised as a witness, he is beginning to show cracks and is weakening in his stance. I remain there for him and although am careful with my words when we discuss the subject of witnesses, use every opportunity I can to plant seeds of doubt through information and research I have accquired over the internet.
I would greatly appreciate if anybody could enlighten me on the discussion and study points that a first Bible/book study would entail.I am entrigued to know how they "lured" him in, as these first studies seemed to have such a dramatic effect on him. I feel that knowing what he was subjected to, (without going through it myself, which I refuse to do!!!) would further help me understand and would give me a stronger stance from which to discuss and defend my position when talking to him, as he often comments that if only I would have a study I would change my attitude!!!!
Thanks in advance for your help.

Bible study
by luffy inwas just curious as to what requirements a witness need to posses in order to conduct/give a bible study...are only those of a certain standing within the cong eligible?, do they have to be of a certain age etc..also, what does a first study entail and what could a person expect to hear..must be pretty well thought out and convincing in order to maintain a persons interest long enough to agree on a second visit/study..

marriage and family in the "new system"
by luffy inmy ex came back from the convention and the subject came up of familiy, marriage etc...i asked, how they believe marriage family etc will stand in "paradise"...do they believe earthly marriages will still be valid and mates will still be together, or is that annuled!!
!..also, whether families now will once again be families then..he didnt seem to be sure.. just out of interest, could anybody shed some light on the witness beliefs on this?.
thanks.

"Just other men" Im guessing as in just anybody as opposed to with spouses and family...I also wouldnt enjoy the prospect of eternal life under those circumstances...
Interesting why JWS would be so worried as to shun straying family members and only marrying their own kind whilst claiming its because they are saving them, when chances are, according to them, they are facing eternal life without them anyway..

So......online dating sites; yay or nay?
by tim hooper inok, all you lovely people,.
so it's been a year now since mrs h and i went our seperate ways, and even though there are people on the boards that i've come to love very much i've started having a tic in one eye whenever i see a presentable lady in real life.
i guess that means that i maybe ready to start looking for some female companionship.. thing is, it''s been over 20 years since i last went on 'the pull', and i'm a bit rusty these days.

I was unhappily married, met someone online actually through a card playing site. We played cards and chatted for almost two years before he proclaimed undying love and despite him being in the U.S and me in Europe, we decided we wanted to be together. To cut a long story short, I divorced my husband, and no sooner had I done so he meets a JW in a store and decides to convert, hence my ending up here.
Call me naive but after two years spending hours and hours chatting, sharing life stories, pics and long distance telephone calls, and having checked his background online I thought I couldnt go wrong. Guess the last thing I could have imagined was the JWS would get a hold of him!!!!!!
Seriously though, we spent a great two years "together" and despite the heartache I feel I was just unlucky, had he not converted Im sure we could have spent a great life together. Be sensible and go with your instinct, you can meet nutters offline just as you can online, but you can always check them out, ask to see them on cam so you know who you are talking to etc...
Anyways...goodluck, Im still recovering from my online dating experience but have met many great friends online who are worth their weight in gold

Paisley Ties Are Satanic, Sandals Are Immodest. What is Worldly????
by mtsgrad in20 years ago (in my teens!
) there was a well established rumour that the paisley pattern had demonic origins.
no brothers in my hall wore ties with that pattern, until a watchtower had a brother wearing a tie with this pattern.. a co said that sisters feet should not seen at the meetings for the sake of decency.

"wordly"= just another one of the glorious words the JWS use to set themselves apart from the others and justify their "group"
"wordly"=NORMAL!!!

Back to the topic - I am in love with a JW
by LindaLu ini have been dating a very committed jw - he spent some time out of the organisation after a divorce and about a year ago has been granted a fellowship again.
i absolutely adore him - and what is there not to love!
he is the most kind, sweet and lovable man i have ever met.

luffy
I was in exactly the same position as you, infact I ended an unhappy marriage in order to be with a man, who after my divorce decided to convert and become a JW.
As I have already mentioned in earlier postings, he was the love of my life, and in the same way as you have stated, was the most sweet and caring man...who could not fall head of heels for someone like that?
I can only speak from my experience, but my advise is to get out and move on, however painful(and believe me I know the heartache involved) The longer it goes on, the harder it will be and the end result will be the same...more heartache for you.
As I have mentioned in another thread, many JWS seems to want their cake and eat it. We, the "wordly" are in their eyes inferior to them most of the time, except when they are feeling that their lives need a little refreshing and a change from the hum drum..do not allow him to use you as that "refreshment" as I mentioned earlier, do not become the pawn.
Its hard but possible!!!
