well, i have never been trick or treating like most of you on this board.

what was your first trick or treating/halloween like?.

in the congregation i currently attend with my die-hard witness wife and my two kids, the p.o.

is a lame duck elder whom no one really respects or goes to for any counsel, advice, etc.

another elder(lives at bethel) has taken to flirting with a local sister who is seperated but not divorced from her husband.

i finally made contact with an exjw sister that i knew while growing up.

let me explain.... when i was young(pre-teen to late teens), my family met at her parents house for book study.

her family was always considered one of the more "spiritual" families in the hall, if not the entire surrounding area.

throughout my tenure as one of jehovah's witnesses, i could not help notice how individuals.

became so conscious of what others thought about them.

When you read the watchtower.....................

how did you feel when you read the wts when you were still in the org.

after the fist couple of years of being in, i avoided it as much as i could.

it was like reading a day old newspaper over and over again.

Halloween

this past weekend i decorated my house for halloween, i know its early but i had a free weekend and i love being the first on my block to decorate, i have celebrated halloween for almost 17 years now, i think halloween and christmas are my most favorite holidays.

any one else decorating the house for halloween?

any one planning a halloween party?

thousands of jehovah's witness children have heard those threatening words backed-up with spankings, whippings, or even severe beatings.

but what if they are too small to understand?

Rainy Days & Monday Mornings

most normal people i know and am around, look forward to the weekend and nice weather.

even though i have not been a publisher for several years now, i still associated weekends with taking the group out in service and baby sitting a lot of the kids from the hall, who the parents dropped off.

what a pleasure monday mornings were when i could go back to work.. also, nothing was greater than a stormy blizzard in the winter, or a thunderstorm (.

Visual Methodologies and Watchtower Illustrations

i have been reading a fascinating book about various strategies for studying the meaning of images: visual methodologies by gillian rose.

various approaches covered include compositional analysis, content analysis, psychoanalysis, semiology and discourse analysis.

it struck me how ripe watchtower imagery would be to such scrutiny, and how subtle trends in ideological emphases may be identified through the visual iconography that may be less apparent in the overt expositions of watcthower written texts.
