have been in arguments with a friend of my dad who is an elder and also a biochemist. Because of his supposed vast knowledge of chemistry I am supposed to be so inclined to take everything he says as fact… not happening.

I have heard the creationist (JW) theory on timelines, carbon dating, even the absurd theory of a water canopy before the flood in Noah’s day. One comment that always strikes me as odd is when you are talking about this subject with someone that believes in creation, I always heard this: “all these evolutionary scientists are trying to disprove the bible.” WRONG they are simply collecting data. Never have I heard or read about a scientist saying now I can finally prove the bible wrong. If you were to do some research you would find that a good number of those scientists are god fearing people.

If scientists found a fossil, radiocarbon dating is not changed by a “water canopy” and even if that absurd idea was a historical fact it wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the research data. As soon as a living organism dies, it stops taking in new carbon. The ratio of carbon-12 to carbon-14 at death is the same as every other living thing, but the carbon-14 decays and is not replaced. The carbon-14 decays with its half-life (look it up) of while the amount of carbon-12 remains constant in the sample. If you look at the ratio of carbon-12 to carbon-14 in the sample and comparing it to the ratio in a living organism, it is possible, if not probable to determine the age of a formerly living thing with little error. Finally if the Adam and eve story was indeed fact, it wouldn’t now have been that long ago, considering the actually time line of the earth. Besides even if the dating was off by thousands of years it still disproves the biblical timeline.

I suggest anyone who is a creationist to do some research that isn’t completely bias. Also keep in mind that most of these scientists are not out there to prove the bible wrong, but just like everyone else, we are trying to learn.
You couldn’t sit on a jury and make a verdict if you haven’t heard from the defense and the prosecution, so why do it in this case.

whats the funniest comment heard from the audience during a wt study/book study/service meeting?.

we had a young retarded kid in our cong , who had his hand up for every single question , usually the bro would take his comment as he would just say "jehovah" but this time he takes the mic and starts this long winded comment rounded off with"satans going to cause a civil war!

growing up, i remember hearing stories from my own parents and others in the congregation about experiences with demons.

sister x wore a t-shirt that she purchased at a second hand store and the demons attached themselves to the shirt and gave her problems.

certain movies and/or cds would give a family problems.

i know as a witness growing up i have heard quite a few stories about demonic episodes . i was told that if i had any rap or heavy metal cd's (by the way bands like pearl jam and red hot chilli peppers were considered heavy metal) i would have to say that most of the people i know that told those stories were nuts, or they were kids. Until i see something floating across the room, i am not buying it. i believe there is a reason for everything. just watching a movie like "the beautiful mind", and also reading various articles on psychology, the mind can do crazy things

due to my husbands interactions with my mom with questions about the history of the wbts, i received a phone call from her.

i have to agree with my brother on this one "monkeyshine". i know certain people that when it comes down to an argument, its a copout. "i am living a better life" is the general quote. the fact is isolation keeps you from going anywhere. remember a lot of people, i believe anyway, that are still IN have doubts. otherwise, they wouldn't even entertain the possibility of being wrong.

we all know that jw's don't make friends out of their religion, but in the jw religion, can members have close friendship with the other sex?.

my experience in the org.

makes me say no.. i remember one cold winter, i was waiting for a brother in his driveway, and my car was warm, and his wife was waiting for someone to pick her up in front of her home, and since i waiting in the entrance waiting for her jw husband to come out of the house so that we could leave in my car, so i told the sister, his wife, who was waiting in the cold, to sit in my warm car while her lift arrives, so she finally sat in my car, but when her husband came out of the house and saw her in my car with me alone, although she was seated in the back, he told her, why are you alone with him.. gee, they both knew me since years, and we were good friends.

when i was in the org. it was hard to be friends with the opposite sex. i mean we had our little click but the gossip was crazy. i wasn't the best kid in the hall but for a while i was getting more ass then i was aware of. at one point i got a girl pregnant, so the rumor said. it was amazing i got into a little hot water according to the org. and next thing you know i was a predator. i guess i can see now that there isn't much to talk about when you are shoved into a shoebox of a social enviroment.
