IS it just me or....?
by dustrabbit inis it just me or..... 1. do the vast majority of the "good" females in the jw publications look like they stepped out of the martha stewart-wannabe/betty crocker/beaver's mom mold?
and the bad "girls" look like some cheesy bad girl from a chessy 80s movie?.
2. did i see a lack of interracial couples/families in the jw pubs?

ZenPunk Exactly, my point. I grew not seeing something the literature that reflect my daily life. Okay, how many of you have seen hispanic/white couples at the KH or the conventions, but have never seen one in a DUB publication?
It's as if there's a secret message there in the pubs: The interracial harmony is not extended to married/dating couples. The romantic couples don't exist...or at least that's how it appeared to me until the abovementioned Awake I saw at the bus stop in 1997. I remembered thinking, "How ironic." B/c in Utah I saw a lot of Mormon white guys with Asian wives/gfs b/c they thought Asian women exemplified what was a good Christian wife. (Sumissive? Stay at home and have the kids? I'll beat her and she'll take it?) Hmmm....so I wasn't really surprised when I the couple in the magazine...just religius cult adopting more racial-sexual stereotypes. Actually, almost all the Mormon White guys I knew back in Utah that were hooked up with Asian women, were the kind of white guys white women pushed off to the side.just my .02 dollars.

SEX SEX SEX SEX & MORE SEX
by Perfection Seeker inok, now that i have your attention................................... it seems like most of the witnesses i know, and who have posted here, say their parents kept them in the dark about sex.
do you agree?
my parents never discussed it at all- in fact- if they did- or saw a love scene on tv- my mom would always say "thats disgusting' (yeah, right mom) .

Hey, in the Frenchy thread about the poor guy in the remote territory, I noticed somebody mentioned why wasn't there a book of essays from JW.com.
Here's my idea: Why not do an eBook of it...I'd be willing to be the editor-in-chief.

It Wasn't All Bad (smile)
by Frenchy inthe congregation i belong to is small and most of its territory is in the rurals.
there is one territory in particular that is some distance from the hall and so it does not get worked as often as the closer ones.
then he said: "i cant talk to you people, you dont believe in hell" .

Yeah, why not present the best of JW.com in Ebook format?
I'd dig that. In fact, I'd be willing to be the editor in chief if this project ever got off the ground.

Poor LE...gives a sypathetic pat on the shoulder...
Re the song book incident: Well, after that, I never got a stiffie in public ever again.
Added: Luckily, we were in the overflow basement room and in the back with a baby crying its head off...so I don't think too many people knew that this happened...but it was embarassing to say the least.

Young People Ask book
by crownboy inhow many of you guys really believed and took to heart every word that was written in it?
i was recently rereading it and it was ridiculous how sophomoric and unrealistic some of the answers to the questions were (e.g.
when you have the urge to engage in the "sin" of masterbation you should pray to god untill the urge goes away.

dredged Hmm... I kinda like this thread.
Demented book...when I get back home to Denver, I will crack it open and take a trip down Memory Nightmare Lane.
Masterbation is a sin, my butt.

The WTS Two 'Credible' Witness Policy.......
by ISP inbelow is an excerpt from the branch letter to all congregations.. 'thus, although they investigate every allegation, the elders in not authorized by the scriptures to take congregational action unless there is a confession or there are two credible witnesses'.
it reaffirms the two witness policy.no surprise there...... but why does it say 'credible'?
witnesses are witnesses are they not?
-

It makes you wonder if "Credible" is meant to exclude any children who could be witnesses to the crime? If I'm not mistaken, when I took a criminal justice class the first time i was in college, the prof said the most likely candidate to witness the molestation of a child is another child.

Lots of Jehovah Bashing in Here
by Perfection Seeker ini think when people leave the organization, they lump it all together- jehovah- religion, organization, etc.
i am not doubtful there is a god, but just doubtful that he used the wts to be his one & only means.
just wanted to say that.

Logical: I knid of agree with you here on the invention of "Jehovah"...but I really like to know what motivated the Isrealites on this one...

Isn't funny? When good things come/goes somebody's way, they often say it was b/c of God's (good) graces or b/c God was blessing them. but when it's bad things, it's b/c God wanted it that way...or b/c the person saw themself as a sinner....
Wake up, it ain't like that...not by a long shot. Thats just somebody not wanting to believe it's luck/coincidence
