I feel bad about being a part of this...
by sibboleth inseveral years ago, approx 1995, i was a newbie elder - age 29 and was just doing the "yes man" duties around the hall.
there was the overbearing po who was the "king" of the congo and whatever he said was gospel... if he didn't like you - you were history... needless to say - i kissed his butt and moved up the ladder quite easily.
we had another newbie elder - in his late 40's - and he was a smart man.

Sibboleth,
I can't agree more that what happened to those brothers was a shame. I also agree that the WTS is not God's organization. However I can't agree its not God's organization because of stories like these. These things happened even among the apostles in Jesus day. The reason this is not God's organization is that they don't adhere to the teachings of Jesus. Namely that we are to love God and Neighbor. By there doctrine they make the schriptures invalid.

Congrats "Man"
It worked the other way around for me. My wife came out first, and I was the one to then let her know I felt the same way.

Faith in angelic help waning? WT March 1 and March 15, 2007
by truthseeker inin the march 1st and march 15th issues of the watchtower, there is a paragraph in the study article about.
the help that angels give in the preaching work.. however, i have noticed something not mentioned before - watchtower uses the phrase "too numerous to be dismissed as coincidence" twice.. quotes are below:.
march 1, 2007 - watchtower.

Why weren't the angels there for me. My faith is on the rocks and all that the angles provided for me is this discussion board.

Do you tend to think that many things "go without saying"? I do...
by Paisley inafter an eye-opening conversation with an old acquaintance yesterday, someone i don't know well but thought i had some clue about .
we've all heard it said "i'm not a mind reader you know, speak up!
i didn't know you felt that way.

From a man's point of view, yes it was inconsiderate, and should have been painfully obvious. The shame of it is that the bible tells us to take care of those of our own household first. So even if there was important cong. problems, it still would have been wrong.

by OnTheWayOut ina bit long, but i really need to vent, and i really need your replies.. my uncle is a jw, his wife and son and daughter-in-law are jw's, too.. they all moved away from family over 15 years ago, serving where the need was greater.. they went out west to new mexico, then other places.

parents (my uncles parents who are my grandparents, and my aunt's parents who i don't know well).

Sorry but I really don't feel qualified to help. I can't help but think that there must be some family history there that you are not aware of, that being said, you have my sympathy and prayers.

Welcome,
I have the same feelings about leaving and loosing my whole family, faiding is not easy, at times I feel like a hypocrite, that I should just take a stand. But then I realize that God knows my heart and why I am staying. And we are encouraged in the bible to become all things to all people. So I agree with the others who told you to take it slow. And good luck!

How do I have everlasting life?
by soulfinder inhere is a scripture that explains just that.. john 5:39-40.
39you are searching the scriptures, because you think that by means of them you will have everlasting life; and these are the very ones that bear witness about me.. 40and yet you do not want to come to me that you may have life.. jesus clearly explains that it is not through the scriptures that we have everlasting life.
it is only by going to him..
