New World Translation, is it the best bible translation?

my jw elder friend said to me that the nwt is the best translation of the bible and that scholars have said as much.

is this true and is it the best?

are there scholars who disagree?.

It is in my opinion, one of the worst Bible translations. I sat down one afternoon and sat the NWT on the table with four others ( they were part of a huge deluxe compilation, so you can cross reference) and I compared many key scriptures about Salvation. The concept of these ( Many) scriptures is that a man must give his excess to the poor, in order to be saved ( remember Jesus , a rich man cannot get into the kingdom of God)

I was blown away by the end of this day, the NWT is so dramatically different to the other FOUR translation in these key areas, it was difficult to undewrstand what these passages were trying to say in the Jehovahs Witness bible. In other words, they have deliberately obscured the light, to confuse you about what you must do to be saved. What does the bible say about ' if anyone adds something or takes away therre will never be any salvation, they will be eternally condemned) By rendering these important passages so inaccurately, they have done you and all their readers a huge dis-service - if you believe the bible - it could arguably be to the ruin of all of you.

If you have a revelation book , the part about " the witness work that they used to have " (you know the passage surely) check that Bible scripture in the NWT against as many bibles as you can find, I did. Only one other bible had the same rendering of that passage - the others were translated as " the testimony that they were KEEPING " ! That's a huge change.

If you are searching for the truth, keep a thoroughly open mind - "Watdch nobody misleads you "-jesus. He wasn't talking to JW's he was talking to everybody............

Very well analysed.

It shows a great deal of prejudice toward non believers and a total lack of love

( God is love, man cannot say he loves God who he has not seen and yet not love his neighhbour who he has seen. - Book of John ? Rough paraphrase)These are the people who are supposed to guide their followers, Gods sheep ? So all the time the Jws are trying to prove themselves to each other, and are judging one another and everyone else based on the other persons dedication to God ( read the FDS, WTS- they are pretty much the same thing they keep drumming into us)

They're damn scary. It is a cycle of complete obedience to every word uttered, one Watchtower even stated you should believe everything the GB teach. SO you have a bunch of followers who look down their noses at us and our immoral ways, despising us for our lack of commitment to the FDS.

i was looking at different subjects, and came across this article and thought wtf !

they are the ones who have directed members to look at certain dates, time periods etc.

How much is too much , and when is enough enough. Self appointed Ministers of God " faithful and discreet? " That's the biggest joke ever.

Please bear in mind these vipers have staked in the Awake that a woman should always " be aware that her rapist is a person with feelings.". I will never attend a Kingdom Hall, they are an insult to Jesus and his Lord - the fictional Jehovah. " Sexual Immorarility " to quote your words. Well, nature has endowed us with the attraction and need for our fellow humans for a purpose, you only have to look at the JW religion to see that sexual chasteness ( which is beautiful in theory ) doesn't really work. You create the demons, you claim to be trying to suppress all along. The GB holier than thou attitude really is offensive - they forbid you to read any religious/bible stuff that is not written by them for fear you will be led astray , very interesting. THe bible says " Make sure of all things" and in doing so, I realised the deceit the WTS is producing.

All of you, are free and commanded by the Lord to do good to others, (tythe) this will make you great. But the GB have reduced it to hassling people to convert to a religion which would gladly let a child die for sake of a blood transfusion. Child Sacrifice is not the way to God, what are we Aztecs ? The Blood Transfusion rule was brought in by Rutherford, a violent, dishonent, deviant alchoholic. Had it been such a pillar of the Christian faith, would not JESUS had introduced it in 1918 when he cleaned his temple and set the JW right on their beliefs ? Purely coincidence that Rutherford had come along and wanted to change things.

I think I am going to refer to him as < Zahabai' > - hey if the can have a man made nickname for the most high them why can't I ? Jehovah was invented in the 12th Century by a Catholic Monk ! That to me is Simple BLASPHEMY !

Jesus said to the Pharisees ' Woe to you scribes and Pharisee because you put the traditions of man before the truth of God.". With all the wrong committed by the Jehovahs Witnesses ( Sacrificing children to this Jehovah fellow by refusing blood, Hiding Paedophiles from state prosecutors and demanding two witnesses, having business shares in multiple firms ( ' Give for free') shares in arms and weapon business, secretly sleeping with the United Nations, Falsifying their history ( the devil is a liar and the father of the lie ) Twisting the bible ( NWTS) to fit their "revealed truths" , false prophecy , yawn ...............)

Yahweh must surely be overjoyed that they have used a dare I say , bastardized man made version of his name ( they don't even mean the same Yahweh and Jehovah ) to spread around the world. "What's in a name, God has a name , Jehovah " they shout around the world. Is that not the biggest example of egg on your face ever ? They have brought nothing but shame on that name. If he chose to in a few hundred years or whatever send a message around the globe in his name ( Yahwehs Messagers , say) it would be good that those people previously used Jehovah. Yes, there is a lot in a name. Personally I am going to call him Zahabai' . But religious people stare gone out when you say that to them, 'Jehovah' they parrot ( and not just the JWs) Look, whats the difference between one non biblical name and another? ' Jehovah I approach you through Jesus Christ ........' Just who are you talking to ? There is no Jehovah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"He Causes to Become"

i'm reading the public edition of watchtower for september and it says that "jehovah" means "he causes to become".

i've never seen this before... is this the jw's definition of the tetragrammaton?

Yahweh , however means " He who is". In his words to Moses he said " I AM WHO I AM" yet the WTS translation in the New world translation says " I shall prove to be.". This is I think to blur the line between Jesus words " Since before Abraham I am." ( NWT " I have been ") The Jehovah chap means something different to Yahweh, is a tradition of man and in my opinion PAGAN." Woe to you scribes and pharisees for you put the traditions of man before the word of God" - Jesus.

Why on earth would you name yourself in the beginning " he who causes to become " when you are the Almighty Supreme one [ Indeed he who is ]( Jehovahs Witnesses explain that this means all his promises will come true ) Did he change his name by deed poll or something ?

So then, who wants to come and worship the man made god Jehovah ? " Sanctify your name indeed ". PAGANS !!!

How do I email the Society?

as some of you know i recieved a personal email from the un regarding the un scandal....and i want to email the society and get their answer to my questions, as i told my mom i got a letter from the un, she's like you got a letter from the united nation?

why not send a letter to the society?

i can prove to her with many letters i've found online from the society but i'd like to get my own.

I'm so glad some one asked this question ! You CAN email the society - but and this is the most interesting part, they will not answer ANY questions of any sort, you can only email them to arrange a home visit ( This was relevant six or so months ago anyhow) The information of the interested party will be forwarded to some one who can visit. This is phenomenal news I kid you not. I'm amazed. A society who are supposed to educate people about God, his son and the truth should be only more than happy to answer any Bible or Belief matter of any sort if it is going to enlighten the populous and spread the wonderful news of Gods Kingdom (after all if I had some spectacular things I wanted to share I would love each and every chance I can get and revel in the chance to educate at every opportunity) But they don't you onlyarrange to get a HOME VISIT !! I might be an interested person who has a deep burning question about something that could open my hearts receptiveness to one day receiving the truth !!!

I'll leave that with you. I think it speaks volumes. Sorry I don't have time to dig out the details if the option still exists , maybe someone else on this post can or has ?

IMO ~ The Last Generation and the U.N. War On Terror

Lets look at this for a second. Lets say that the Bible is Gods inspired word. Lets say that the JWs were right about the UN being the wild beast of revelation -this causes a bit of a dilemma. The sleeping with the enemy situation (NGO) adultery worthy of any member of Babylon the Great so viciously slaughtered for their sins by the WTS in the book of Revelation and a move therefore of horrific hypocrisy, can they be exempt for their crimes themselves ? This causes a major problem. Jesus said to the Pharisees " If you were blind you would have no sin,yet you say we see. Your sin remains.".

The Churches are "blind" for their loyalty to to the Devils Gang (probably) so have committed no great wrong. The WTS who shouted out from the roof tops that it was wrong what Babylon the Great (every other religion naturally) was up to are guilty of a sin that "remains". This means that your camps are "no sin" or sin that "remains". This puts JWs in great danger - therefore being a member of the " real " Babylon the Great. It is also dishonest, fraudulent and disgraceful - like spitting in Jesus 's face.

We have (Bible is true) other situations being - prophecy. 1914,1925,1975 , generation of 1914 (changed understanding yet according 2 you may still be fulfilled in its original meaning) The early failed prophecies are very condemning." If a person makes a prophecy in the name of the Lord and it fails to come true this one must be considered a false prophet " (somewhere in Hebrew scripture) So as the word of God , God "cannot lie" (Pauls words) and therefore it is surely an open and shut case ?

Oh and Blood Transfusions. Jesus according to the WS came to earth in 1919 ( or 18?) to clean his temple and set themstraight on the things they were wrong on (coincidence that Rutherford took over and change the beliefs , God inspired the abusive, dishonest vile alchoholic ) If it was so important that Gods servants refuse blood ( why then do you have milk in your tea as milk contains blood you know?) why was the policy not brought in until many years later? Simply because it is a wicked practise and a modern day equilivent of the below scripture :

"They sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech. I have never commanded such a horrible deed; it never even crossed my mind to command such a thing. What an incredible evil . . .!" -- Jer. 32:35, New Living Bible "Get out of her [Babylon the Great] my People " - Gods words in Revelation.After all how can a religion that claims to promote Gods name amongst the nations ( Yahweh does not mean the same as Jehovah - a name invented less than a thousand years ago ) and yet uses a man made substitute. ' Woe to you scribes and pharisees , because you put the traditions of men ahead of the Word of God ' - Jesus in the Gospels. ' Make sure you don't let anyone mislead you for many false prophets will come in my name and on the basis of my Name ' - Jesus in the Gospels. Remember what he said of fate of the Proselites converted by the Pharisees - don't fall into that trap. You owe it to your self to discover the truth.

Very interesting. It's strange because there are far more 'Sisters' than 'Brothers' (some estimates put it at 75%) so the poor lasses are always going to be at a disadvantage. The males are simply laughing !

There isn't a lot to choose from man wise and the structure socially is always interesting. The weak one often fall away, and those not involved in the truth sufficient ( what is seen as sufficient by all ) are generally considered inadvisable mate material. What ever happened to following your heart. " Well you've got to choose a mate based on his [or her] commitment to Jehovah." ( commitment based upon the thoughts and guidelines placed by the ever loving Faithful and discreet slave ( Gods wife) If you express any doubts over the soicetys guidelines , teachings , beliefs you are automatically viewed as suspicious and treated with caution ( since you are pretty much excluded socially from the outside world by the JW belief system this means you are a little screwed) so you can only falsely be what you are not in heart and this devalues your worth as a potential mate as you become false.

There are some beautiful ( and not just physically) lasses in the WTS but there isn't really the quality to go round so they all end up with the ridiculous short end of the stick.By denying yourselves ( ie : see a beautiful potential partner in the world and passing up) you cause pychological problems even without realising it. " Only marry in the Lord " denying what God originally intented man and woman coming together through nature chemistry and all. ( Romeo couldn't marry Juliet because she wasn't a Jehovahs Witness and he never recovered emotionally and ended up a wreck of a human being. But he couldn't take poison because it would be a sin. He then had to go through utter hell thinking of the woman he loved more than life itself dying at Armageddon)

As a previous person stated on this thread you wind up choosing from the " dregs of soicety " Some brothers are wonderful people with a lot of love to give and I have a lot of affection and love for them, but many I wouldn't give the time of day to most.

One thing I did notice, is that many brothers change and get very haughty and snobby to single brothers when they marry. And I'll leave that to your imagination why. Are these the sort of people you want sniffing round your friends and loved ones? It's emotional and physical cruelty to deny a woman or man love cause they must put Jehovah ( who ? Jehovah "he causes to become " [ didn't exist till 12 century] and Yahweh " He who is" different beings anyone !!!!)first ( more time in congregation activities or on the field ministry will help. But the elders will always look down on a woman struggling with passions.

I hope your friend finds truth and love I really do. But enlightenment is really something one has to find on ones own. Lots of Love.

Cutting of BS following WT plan: No more personal study or research!

since it seems the cats out of the bag on the book study being eliminated from small groups at homes, i feel it ok to discuss the "why" of the society's actions on this manner.

many seem to be confused as to why the wt would eliminate another evening of busywork.

some see it as a loosening of the riens on the wt's part to let the congregation breathe.....i see it as the complete opposite....i see it as another control tactic, one that has been in the works for a while.
