yeah, while i think it's a good idea to have an emerency kit aorund, the only reason they did do it was because of the paranoia being instilled in them. it reminds me of the that Y2K business when i had a teacher in junior high telling us to store water and food supplies. lol :P

Told To Buy Emergency Kits ...Ever Heard of This?
by TheKings ina couple months ago my jw mom told me that in all the book study groups for their congregation they were told to go out and by emergency kits because "things were getting so bad".
i restrained myself from rolling my eyes.
has anyone else heard of this happening?

If Children grow up in the Truth but never get Baptized, why no shunning?
by NotaNess ini kind of understand the "never made the real commitment" part, but isn't learning the "truth" for 15 to 20 years, and going out into the "world" as opposed to committing,... the same as choosing to not accept jehover's (aka wts) ways and be with the brothers and sisters in union?.
why is the shunning treated different?
is it because, there's always hope by the parents, that they will come around?, etc.. .

this is me ... i faded out and never made a dedication. My family still talks to me, but when i went to the memorial last year everyone shunned me, and when i see JW's i knew they shun me. *shrug*

Incredibly aggressive email I received from a JW
by jwfacts ini put the following comment on answers.yahoo.com about changes to watchtower revelation doctrine.
there have been three different versions of god given light in the watchtower publications so far;.
1. calvin studies in the scriptures series vii- the finished mystery p.151 "calvin is entitled to the honor of having at one time been a papal star .... is called wormwood.

i'm amused by the jw's in this thread because the only thing they know how to do with any proficiency is bad-mouth other religions,...which *shock horror* doesn't prove them right. it's simply a distraction.

explain how false prophecy is "unimportant"... false prophecy in a religion that claims utmost superiority as the mouthpiece of God should be a red flag to anyone who isn't lobotomized. Divisions? try an attempt at education. would you accuse jesus of causing divisions when he denounced the pharisees just because it rocked the boat? No, because he was right...just like it is absolutely right to name the watchtower bible and tract society a false prophet.

religion, like everything in life, is a mixed bag. it's a force for good for some people, and others don't need it to live happily. will you not agree, Beroean, that in the name of religion great evils have been commited. This is where you will probably assume that JW's are superior, but doctrine has claimed lives in JW-land. this is not acceptable.

i hope you realize that proving another religious teaching unfactual is merely a distraction from the rafter in thine own eye... two wrongs don't make a right.

"So am I getting this right that most of you just want to do whatever YOU want to do and make up your personal rules as you go along? And if so, at what point do you tell another person what to do?......Say, your neighbor likes having sex with animals....do you intervene? What if your neighbor loved veal and kept baby calves in his basement? The blood-curdling cries at night sending shivers up your spine. What if you found out your neighbor and his "son" were members of NAMBLA? Would you report them?"
what someone does in the privacy of their own home is none of my business... nor are their beliefs. everyone must render their own account to the higher powers at the end of their days. judge not lest ye be judged. i believe in being a good person, that's all. -

An "Apostate" partakes at the JWs Memorial
by dedpoet inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccote1skw8a.
this is a video sent to me by brenda lee, the author of "out of the cocoon",.
of her partaking of the emblems at the jw memorial last month.

firstly, i doubt a JW's opinion of "apostates" could ever be worsened. As a JW i didn't think for more than two seconds about what "apostates" did, and i had glimpsed a couple online "apostate" videos which were very 'rabid' while stille active. When the time came for me to want to leave the organization those memories didn't keep me form realizing the truth. you must remember that when someone starts to leave the org they never think of themselves as an "apostate" ... so that has nothing to do with them having doubts.
secondly, ...she stated that it was for the benefit ex-jws, not for current jws. i got a laugh out of it. ;)
