The many ways Jehovah's Witnesses harm children
by under_believer inwas talking with my therapist this morning and i made the comment "i guess i don't mind if she is a witness as long as it doesn't harm the kids.
" this got me thinking about all the ways that being raised as witnesses harms or can harm children.
1) teaches children to have an air of superiority regarding other human beings.

Being born into the JWs and growing up as a JW child, I feel as though I lost out on my childhood. I never knew what it was like to celebrate my birthday or have a birthday party. I could never join in with the other kids in school for the holiday celebrations, like Thanksgiving or Christmas parties. This is NOT a normal, healthy childhood.
But I think that even worse than these things, is that a JW child is taught to only care about those people that are fellow JWs. No one else in the world matters. That is very sad.

"This Shows We're Living In The Last Days"......Your response???
by minimus inatrocities happen all the time.
student mass murders, genocides, the ozone layer, the environment------you name it----it all points to what witnesses assert as proof that this means we're living in the "last days of the last days".
how would you respond to such ones?.

An earthquake strikes - we're living in the "last days of the last days"
A war breaks out - we're living in the "last days of the last days"
A fire or a flood occurs - we're living in the "last days of the last days"
A space shuttle blows up - we're living in the "last days of the last days"
A president gets shot - we're living in the "last days of the last days"
9 / 11 - we're living in the "last days of the last days"
A celebrity kills himself / herself - we're living in the "last days of the last days"
Notice a pattern???

Where do you like to sit on a plane and why?
by Crumpet ini'm trying to decide where i want to sit on the plane to dallas - i can choose online 24 hours beforehand but am not sure where is best for comfort, quiet, service, view.
is there anyway of predicting where any babies might be so i can be as far away as possible from them?.

Personally I've always enjoyed sitting near one of the wings, seems more stable there I guess.
whats the longest anyone has had to fly and your worst flight experiences?
My longest flight was to Paris and it wasnt bad at all. But my worst had to be flying up from Florida one time. We hit a ton of turbulence for much of the flight and they kept piping Buddy Holly music through our headphones!!!

Backwards music
by Anony-Mouse inof course, i'd heard the rumors of subliminal messages that all the jws say from time to time.
but it's been quite a while, so i had forgotten about it.
i've been cruising older songs, and i came across a nice little song on youtube.

Just like playing "Another One Bites The Dust" backwards. Yeah, it kinda sounds like "we like to smoke marijuana", but it's not that clear.
You mean that my mother made me throw out my Queen album for nothing???

Is this normal?
by FourMs inafter i came to terms with my decision to leave the org, i suddenly didnt want to anything to do with god.
its been several months and i still dont want to hear people talk about whether there is a god or not.
or when people say that they thank god for this and that.

I pretty much felt the same way after I left "The Org" too. Wanted nothing to do with God, religion or even people in general. But at the same time I was relieved too. It felt like a big weight was lifted off my shoulders. I no longer had all the pressures of trying to be a witness. And trying to maintain that "we are better than everybody else" mentality.
At this point in my life I'm still struggling with the "does God exist?" question. It may change for me in the future, but for right now I guess I'm one of those "evil" agnostics!

however, is there anything that you learned from your jehovahs witness past that .
you appreciate even today?.

You Might Be a JW
by prophecor inin the spirit of jeff foxworthy's ," you might be a redneck ", describe the thing that we'd do that might just get you tagged as a jehovah's witness.
i'll start.
you're goin through a drive thru and the cashier gives you $2.00 too much in change, you return it after having driven 50 miles in the other direction.. .

If, after eating in a restaurant, you leave the waitress a Watchtower and Awake as a tip instead of cash...than you might be a JW.

I really miss those fantastic dramas with their natural, life-like dialogues, and their awe-inspiring special effects.
LMAO! Me too Arthur! BTW, adorable avatar.
That brings back some wonderful memories for me too - "We kindly ask that you all close your umbrellas and tents, so that the other friends my observe the drama too."
Does anyone else remember the way the actors always waved their hands through the air, to show who was speaking? Oh and my favorite line from all the dramas, "You son of a nameless one!!!"
