i was in heavy doubt about the organization, but still in the back of my mind i was a bit hesitant of posting because it was the "unforgivable sin".
i think it took me 20 minutes to type my first post.
i still felt that once i submitted my post that a bolt of lightning was going to come down upon me, so my hands were shaking as i was typing.

Could be a major problem too if your cats start sniffing around for a pioneer slip...

Depends. Are your cats baptized?
That's right! I'd keep those cats away from the water for a while Sarah! Especially if you have a nearby swimming pool...

i was born in the "truth" and reached the dizzy heights of becoming a servant and that attended the ministerial school.
in the last three years i emotionallly left the "truth" and stopped attending last year.
however, i am still very confused theologically.
I would have to say that I'm at an 8.
I've been out of The Org. for about 20 years now, but I still can't say that I'm fully recovered.

it's been a nine year battle, but i'm finally graduating from college with a bachelor's degree and a certificate.
it's important to me that this community knows that.
there are probably a lot of you here who didn't allow themselves to go to college.
Congrats Shawn!!! Way to go bro!!!
What you said about education and the Witnesses is very true also. In my case it was my going to college that finally ended my JW association. The elders told me not to go to college and my "worldly" father told me to go. I listened to my dad.
Hope you get a chance to celebrate your accomplishment!!! And have one on me!!!

I actually enjoyed posting for the first time on here! I had posted on some similiar forums on myspace and I didn't even know about JWD. But thanks to Buttlight, I found my way here! Buttlight introduced me here and helped me get started.
It has been a great experience for me ever since! Even though I have been out of The Org. for a long time, I still had some unresolved issues and things that I still needed to get off my chest. Unfortunately, when I left the JWs years ago, sites like these didn't exist. It was much tougher back then to deal with the transition and to become an ex-dub. It was a very lonely time. But fortunately those days are long gone. Now I can throw in my two cents once in awhile on here, feel better and maybe also help someone else in the process.
Thanks again Buttlight!!! Here's to ya!!!
let's show up at a few assemblies (close proximity) and have a p-a-r-t-y!
screw the debates over words; when we spoke to the boe, cos, dos, and bethel we were dealing with murderers, pedophiles, and protectors of mean men and women, called brothers and sisters.
now it's our time to have some fun within "the courtyard of the gentiles.
I have to run out and buy a pair of swim trunks! Catch ya later!!!
Um, TCK - did you not read that clothing is "optional"?? No need to waste money on swim trunks!!
BB
Oh wow, thanks BB! Glad I checked the board before I walked out the door! All right, you just saved me $1.99!!! Now I have more money to spend on beer!!!

this topic came up the other night when i was chatting with nvrgnbk.
as some of you may know, i was born and raised as a jw.
i was actually a 3rd generation jw.
Ok Open Mind. While I can't get inside the guy's head to know what he was thinking, let's give the P.O. some credit and say that he knew the difference between an auxilery and a regular pioneer. This would mean that he knows that only 60 hrs. are required verses 90 hrs. a month. He also knows that there is no 6 month waiting period for an auxilary pioneer.
Now at this point, here is how the situation could have developed:
Brother P.O. decides that the next step would be to see if I (brother CoolerKing) would be capable of putting in the time. A quick check of my publisher card would have answered that question and brother P.O. would have known that I had worked over 60 plus hrs. on a few occasions.
Next, brother P.O. could have said, "Since I havent worked with brother CoolerKing, let me check with another elder that has, and get his insight. We want to make sure that this newly baptized person is properly representing the organization out in Field Service. I will bring this up at the next elders meeting."
At the elders meeting:
"Ok fellow elders, brother CoolerKing has requested an auxilary pioneer slip from us. I have politely told him that we will get back to him with an answer, as the elders need to discuss it. Have any of you worked with him out in service? If so, how did it go? I see, so none of you have worked with him then. Ok, over the next few weeks, one of us should make it a point to work in the field with this brother and see how it goes. If we find that his presentation is weak, then we should recommend that he work on his delivery, before we present him with a pioneer slip. I will also notify brother CoolerKing of this decision. Ok, next topic..."
Shouldn't this qualified man have taken this wiser approach or a similiar one?
Instead of boldly announcing from the platform to the whole congregation, "BrotherCoolerKing, you suck as a publisher!"
Yes, I feel the love...

CoolerKing- Everyone is invited, but Ted Jackass. Sure you can join in the pool fun with Nathan's seals. No questions, no answers, lots of music, and no grief.
Thank you Brother Lawrence! Will it be like that Vegas commercial, you know, "whatever happens here, stays here?!" LOL
Hope you will all please excuse me for a little while. I have to run out and buy a pair of swim trunks! Catch ya later!!!

the infamous one.
Great book! It was a life changer for me. Freed me of my years of guilt that I had been living with since leaving The Org.
Be sure and share your thoughts with us after you have read it...
