How Many Here Actually Lock Their Doors At Night?

i'm shocked by how many people i know who live in larger towns that do not lock their doors or windows.....do you?

I lock the house doors, windows, set the alarm and sleep with a loaded musket under my bed. Even if you live in a so called "safe" neighorhood, you never know who's passing through.

As far as locking up my vehicle, it depends. I once went to a shopping mall and when I came back out the side window on my SUV was smashed out. An old leather jacket and a brand new $19.99 dust buster that I just bought was the only think that was stolen. But what was worse was that the idiot numb nuts that broke in bent the window frame on my vehicle, probably with a swing of his crowbar. Ended up costing me several hundred dollars just to get it fixed and repainted! If only I had of kept the door unlocked I could of saved us both alot of trouble...

Do you remember this change?

thinking about the 1995 change (1914 generation) made me remember vaguely another change that i seem to remember 'shook' me quite a bit, maybe even more so (not quite sure why exactly, that's why i'd like to remind myself of this).. .

-it was about how 'new light' had revealed that it wasn't jw who were separating the sheep from the goats while they go door-to-door, but instead jehovah (or jesus) that will separate them when time comes.. anyone here remember something along those lines, and if so, what publication it was in etc.?.

I'm tired

got up at 5am, got the hubby up, we dressed and went to the surgery center (oh yeah i didn't tell ya'll that hubby was to go in for vein surgery this morning), hubby had surgery and we were out of there by 10am.

went and got some crutches for hubby, van started making funny noises and the battery light came on.

went to target to pick up some stuff for the kids, left there and car sounds worst.

How many left the organization have become Atheist?

how many have become atheist after leaving the organization?

At this point in my life I'd consider myself an agnostic. Possibly leaning toward becoming an atheist, but not there yet. I've been reading lots of books on the subjects of God and the origin of the Bible. I'm currently reading "The God Delusion" as well as the New Testament of the Bible. Although I've been reading the Bible lately (interesting book, without the WTS blinders on) I've been doubting it's authenticity. And I certainly don't buy the Genesis account of creation either. I do find that it's rather frustrating at times though, trying to choose between creation or evolution. I think it all comes down to personal preference and what an individual chooses to believe. In my case I may just give up caring about "the origins of humankind" altogether!

As "normal" as anyone ever is. Having been raised a JW, it is a part of me and always will be.

I have to echo what Daystar said. I too was born into and raised as a JW. It's tough to "wipe out" 23 years of my life!

But I did manage to move on and I suppose that I can be considered somewhat normal...LOL But most importantly, I live my life by my own rules now, and not those sent down from a bunch of old guys in Brooklyn!!!

Have you ever faked a service report?

it's only my third day here so, go easy on me.

lol.. seriously, my new doubts have made it harder and harder to go in service.

a few months ago, when a new month rolled around, i realized that i hadn't actually gone in service at all the previous month.

Nope, you are certainly NOT some kind of deviant Orgull! As you can see, many on here, myself included, fudged those good ole time slips at one time or another! I recall that toward the end of my JW career, I put down 2 hours just to stay off the inactive list!!!

I had no idea there were people who felt like me

i've recently begun challenging my beliefs.

all my beliefs, including those ingrained in me as one raised "in the truth".. a few years ago i sought therapy for chronic depression and my treatment was remarkably successful.

as a side effect, things that used to "work" for me no longer fit with the new emotional pathways and strengths i was developing.

Welcome Orgull!!! And Congrats on your first post!!!

I'm glad you found your way here. Many, many people on here feel as you do. I can relate to that alone feeling that you mentioned. I left The Org. almost 20 years ago. It was really tough back then, because these types of forums didn't exist. Fortunately they do now and I have finally been able to vent and discuss things that I couldn't years ago. It's an awesome feeling!
