  This was so good that I just had to pass it along...don't know if it's been posted on here or not, but here it is:

  Whether Democrat or Republican or Independent or nothing, I think you'll get a kick out of this! A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What is Politics?"
  Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way:
  I am the head of the family, so call me The President.
  Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government. We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.
  The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class
  And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.
  Now think about that and see if it makes sense." So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.
  Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him . He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper.
  
  So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed .
  The next morning, the little boy says to his father, "Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now."
  The father says, "Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about."
  
  The little boy replies, "The President is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit."

  Hmmm...I remember them telling me this in 1982, the year I started college. An elder said to me, "College would be a waste of time for you. The new world will be here before you graduate..."

  What birthday age depressed you the most?

  my birthday is coming up in a month.

  i'm 35 and i'm so depressed about turning 36. i've heard people really get down when they were turning 25, 30, and other ages but non of my birthday's bothered me this much until now.

  turning 36 is so depressing and i think it's because here i am single again trying to now start my career, my credit, my whole life over.

  Posting Here: secretly or openly?

  just curious, how many of you have to hide the fact that you post here from family?

  i'm especially thinking of those with spouses who are in, while they themselves either never were, faded, dfed/daed, etc but if you are a child hiding it from parents, that applies too.

  if you are posting secretly, how secretive do you have to be?

  The only one that doesn't know that I post on here is my mom, a devout JW. But she's in her 70s, she doesnt own a computer nor does she have access to one and she doesn't care to know anything about them! Also I've been out of the WTS for almost 20 years and she knows it and still speaks to me. The rest of my family could care less if I post here. So I pretty much have nothing to hide. If anyone knew me as a JW and reads all my posts, they'll figure out who I am.

  Although the pic on the left isn't a pic of me (I just thought it was cool!), you can check me out on the "Post your Pic" thread, I've posted my "real" face on there!

  I always had trouble swallowing the flood story in Genesis as well

  I have to echo what dedpoet said. I always had a problem with the global flood. And which was it, did Noah take two or seven kinds of animals into the ark? Genesis writer / writers didn't seem like they could get it straight! The same thing occurs too with the story of creation in Genesis, there are two versions.

  Imagine an elder stepping up to the microphone and.....

  imagine an elder stepping up to the microphone at the hall, and instead of doing his part, he would just talk about all that's not right in that religion and take his time talking about his doubts before stepping down as elder.....and no one would stop him from talking because he is respected and because he would be the head elder and every other elder would be taken by surprise and wouldn't know what to do..... has this ever happened, do you think it could ?.

  It would be a blessing if it ever happened, but I can't imagine how. I'm sure that they would find someway to DF him. Then they would humiliate his family and put them through hell.

  Nah, I'm certain I was an accident. There's like a 7 year gap between my sister and me! I'm sure my parents didn't think they could have any more kids at their age!

  But I'm glad to be here anyway!!! And nothing compares to hanging out with wonderful Apostates!!!
