i can say that i don't thinki ever really looked forward to going to a 2 hour meeting or a 2 hour ride around in the "ministry.

Can you say Boring??!!! And looking back now, it seems like such a total waste of time too. We could have spent that valuable time socializing with our worldly relatives or doing real charity work for the sick or elderly.

when i was watchtower witness and pioneer i recall how we used to abuse the hours at the field service.... getting up in the morning, and doing street work..after the street work going to the kindom hall for the field service, and the at the territory.
after finishing the territory continue some street work in order continue reporting the time.. so starting at 8.15 in the morning, then stop at 9.15 to drive to the kindom hall, and around 9.50 we were getting at the territory.
then after the 2 hours preaching(and usually 85%of the people were not home and the rest show no interest at all, and after 2 coffee brakes, finishing at 12.00. then going some street work at the center of the town until 1.00. so we used to report 5 hours!!!
Do the hours of the JW's reflect their actual preaching?
Nope, not at all! At least not at the congregations where I attended. We'd start counting the time the minute we left the KH. Slowly walking to the car, waiting to warm it up, driving to the territory at 20 mph. Getting out of the car, slowly walking to the 1st door. Standing at the same door talking with the other JW, knowing full well that nobody is at home! Then walking slowly to the next door. Oh, and if the weather was cold, we'd have to get back in the car to warm up between doors! I'd say in a 2 hr time frame we may have talked to three people, two of which werent interested anyway.
back when i was still a jw, i used to work night shift alot for my job.
this included saturday nights as well.
our kingdom hall had our sunday public talks in the morning and i always found it difficult to stay awake, especially after being up all night!

Actually I seem to recall that the WTS did put out a Watchtower article, warning about the dangers of caffeine. But I guess they realized that if they banned "the drug", then meeting attendance would drop considerably!

I only had about 20 mins between getting in from work and getting to the meeting. So I never had time to pick up coffee or make it. That's why I popped the pills! Not to mention it made for fewer bathroom breaks too!I also used to drink a TON of coffee before hitting the hall.

Our Kingdom Hall had our Sunday public talks in the morning and I always found it difficult to stay awake, especially after being up all night! I was also responsible for adjusting the mics, so it didn't help either that I had to sit on the front row. I'm sure the "friends" seated behind me could notice me drifting off and watch me catching my sleepy head, as it bounced forward and from side to side. Anyway, to keep from falling asleep, I started popping those caffeine pills (NO DOZ) before every Sunday meeting! It was the only thing I could think of to keep me awake and keep from snoring during the meetings.
So how did YOU manage to stay awake for the meetings? Anyone else "pop" pills to stay awake like me?

In my case I never "officially" DA'd myself or said goodbye to anyone. I just said "see ya later," to the friends at the hall on a Sunday, after the Watchtower Study. No one at the time, including myself, knew that that would be my last meeting.

have you heard about a letter for all congregations announced next new change in wts politics?.
in letter is information that the time for the public talk will be reduced to 30 minutes.. does anyone have a copy?
