You have to defeat them biblically. All the other "feely touchy" subjects will be refuted with bible texts. There are plenty of texts in the bible to show that they are dead wrong on doctrine, and that they are not practicing the teachings of Jesus or God.

5 questions
by Iforget ini read here so much that sometimes it makes my head hurt with how much bs i have been fed all of my life.
now that i am studying another religion i am so pissed off i can't see straight.
i don't care to get into a heated debate with my family over what i am choosing to do so i come here asking for 5 questions (there can be plenty more) that i can just say to my family that would give them pause as to why i am not going to their church anymore.

2. Why are the 144,000 not literal tribes from Israel? How can all those individual verses not represent Jacob's children? (James mentions "12 tribes" and so does Jesus) 3. How can Michael be Christ when Michael says "May GOD rebuke thee" (Jude 1:9) (Michael "dare not" bring a charge against Satan), but Jesus, a man can rebuke demons? (Hence Michael is not Jesus) 4. If you are going to teach that when a person dies they go into the ground of Sheol, then how can one of the 144,000 be in heaven now? In what form? What is their substance? Jesus was a flesh and blood man when he was raised (Luke 24:37-42, 1Tim2:5) 5. Why is a blood transfusion wrong when Jesus says that there is no greater love a man could have, then to lay down his life for his brother or sister? (John 15:13) 6. Why does the bible teach that Jehovah's Witnesses are deceived (Butters 5:23)

Are Faders "better" than DF'd or DA'd?
by ESTEE inthis is something i've been mulling over.
just would like to hear opinions as to whether faders, or inactive ones think they are superior to disfellowshipped or disassociated ones?
what is your experience with this?

I suppose I am a fader, although they probably disfellowshiped me after I volunatarily left. I was baptized, but I attended very few meanings the last 3 -4 years before leaving in 96'. The day I left, I literally left, and moved out of the area back to the bayou. I never bothered to arrange contact or told them I was moving, or even let them know of my thoughts. The idea to leave was well preconceived long before any evidence of it surfaced. The lack of attendance should have clued them in, but I showed up at least one Sunday a month, and always dropped 2 or 3 c notes in the box, and that is all this congregation really gives a hoot about.

Have Faith in God
by Reslight ini was hoping to find a topic forum of general encouragement.
not finding such an area, i have decided to post it here, as this seems to be the closest.
if this should have been placed in some other area, please let me know.

"When Satan puts mountains of obstacles in our path to discourage us, we may find it difficult to have faith in our Heavenly Father that such mountainous obstacles can be removed." - I found it much easier to live and be responsible for my own actions, once I realized that the bible's Hebrew language of "Satan" is not talking about a supernatural monster, but rather the human heart. The heart is deceitful above all things. There is no hob goblin to blame for our mistakes. We only have ourselves as false teachers to blame.

by zeroday inwatchtower february 1881 p.188.
if we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different.
with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another.

You could come up with a whole new category of person on that one Amazing (by the way are you a cookie monster or elmo?)... But don't knock the combination of "God and Science" (Science-Fiction) because I happen to like Star Trek.

Hurts so good?
by return visitor ini know many have been hurt by association with the wts, but i was just wondering, are there any truths that you accually can take away from your association with it.
for instance, before becoming a jw i would recite the lord's prayer, and had never read in matt.
that is was not to be recited, but that it was mearly there as an example of how to pray.

There are some things I "observed" (not learned) that the WTS "promotes" (not teaches) that I can agree with. Dressing neat for business occasions for instance, was something I never really applied myself at until getting in the routine of wearing a full suit as opposed to looking at who we have our haynes on now watching football on Sunday. Which reminds me, what I am I doing on this computer... the Jets are beating the fish... But in the bigger picture, the false hypocrisy outweighs the appearance of good character and love shown on the outside. Inside they are full of all sorts of treachory.

Uh, Is that part of Solomon about Barbara Streisand by chance? Could be a prophecy the Witneses missed. They had that steam locomotive/bohemeth thing down pretty good, didn't they?
