Check out Daniel-P's thread - http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/161726/1.ashx
He's got lots of details & documents.
i'm not a jw, never have been.. my friend described bethel as a place where one can be trained up in a trade and help with the printing of wts literature.
he described it as a self sufficient home where many witnesses aspire to go because you're only arpund other followers and it doses you up good on spirituality.
but then i read about it online and apparently there's bells ringing and quick meals and it's really hard work and it sounded somewhat like an institution?!?!

my latest study on the governing bodys stance on the medical use of blood is available at:.

doug.
The link says it is temporarily unavailable. Will try again later.
Looking forward to seeing what you have done. I recently sent my sister a lot of info on blood. This will probably be something else good to send her.
would the wt be embassered if such were the case.
I think the WTS is happy to take any kind of money from anyone. I have come to the conclusion they are indeed a greedy cult.
I just can't think of any $$$ they would consider dubious. Did you have something specific in mind?

J-ex-W mentioned this last week - http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/162404/1.ashx
There is also another thread linked in that one. She said the perp (Corey) was a regular pioneer.
i sure could use some group therapy, but would settle for drinking a beer over some good conversation.
are there any former, maybe not formers but df's, or just plain doubting jw's who would like to meet some time.
anywhere in houston works for me.. .
Hi again - there are X-JW Meet up groups around the country. Here is the link for the one in Houston - http://exjw.meetup.com/422/
I didn't know about these groups when I lived in Houston a few years ago. We have a very good group in West Phoenix. I've been to the last few meetings. We have ex-bethelites and ex-elders in the group. Everyone is so nice and it is very encouraging to hear everyone's story.
I also sent you a PM.
....waking up to the real truth about the truth?......when it first really hit me like a shovel in the face.....i actually said to the co i would have to leave my wife and son (not hers)) and he is now 20 (not the co..my son), and i said it because i knew i would now never measure up to the "spiritual head" model.
cause i knew it was all bs...but have not really ran away yet....at least not for more than a week at a time.........doing better actually.......but did you want to at least move or something?
?...........oompa
DJ_Q - Welcome to JWD. Not too many still up tonight but it will get more active in a few hours.
The way the organization is set up and controlled makes most everyone feel they are not good enough. Nothing is ever good enough. I even heard my elderly aunt say pretty much the same thing last year. She has been in most of her 88 years but is not physically able to attend meetings now for years. It is sad to see someone feel like that their whole life.
Take time to read and research. If you have not already done so please take time to read Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz. It will help you feel better about yourself and where you are now with the organization.
i have been for the past 3 years.
we start in ohio, and usually only make it half way through kentucky.
it is a fun experience, and everything imaginable can be found!
I've been to the Alabama end of it. Definitely an interesting day.
Didn't follow it too far north though as we were on another mission and wound our way through the back country into Northwest Georgia.
as a non-witness, i've heard that potential candidates for baptism have to answer a series of questions.
1. what are some of these questions?
2. is this an actual form or are these questions oral (be nice!)?
After you go through all those questions and get permission to be baptized then at an assembly you sit through a lecture and at the end you are asked two final questions.
Here's a link to those two final questions & some more discussion - http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/154388/1.ashx
i have often heard the 1967 talk of district overseer charles sunutko regarding 1975, but does anyone know what became of him?
is he still around?
Here's some info on Sunutko - see starting with Fatfreek's post at 11:09
