I always hated DFing sooo bad I am sure I would have gone out of my way to speak to a DFed person. It's been so long I'm having a hard time remembering specific instances of people outside the family.
There was one cousin, a biological sister, a nephew. It did not change my friendship/relationship with them at all.

Describe your encounters with a DFed person
by Nosferatu innow, i'm not talking about now where you're free to talk to anybody you like, but your experiences as a jw where you encountered someone who was dfed.. i recall one.
i remember answering the phone, and a former friend of my mother (dfed) called.
i passed it to my mother and one of her first questions was "have you been reinstated?

Welcome!! Yes, this board can be kind of addictive. I just found it last summer and I have learned so much. I've been out for almost 30 years (faded) but I'm beginning to think some of the effects may never really go away completely.
You are right on about the car wreck! -

Welcome to the board. I just found it last fall myself and have been amazed at all I have learned from the people here.

Why don't YOU believe anymore?
by Crumpet insomeone on another site was asking "what if they are right?
" which made me think about why i know that they are not and i wondered what was your epiphany or road to damascus moment or moments that just made you realise - hey i've been led up the garden path here!.
here was my response but i really think a list of reasons on one thread for easy reference for newbies would be good.

During the time of Jim Jones and Jonestown there was a long newspaper article telling all about that cult. I kept that article for a long time and read it several times.
The similarities with the WTS was shocking to me at the time. That one article made me sit back and start thinking objectively about the religion I was born into. -

Welcome Vinny. I found this list on Freeminds.org back early last year and was amazed at all the things the WTS has printed over the years.
I had printed out the full thing to keep and recently ordered one of Randy Watters booklets "Spiritual Food at the Proper Time" and it is the same list.
It's very good info to have - it even included info on the Jimmy Swaggart sales tax issue.
It is unbelievable all the quotes about 1975 and then for them to turn around and say it was our fault for believing 1975 was the end. -

Former JW-Masonic Temple being made into a landmark
by lonelysheep infollow up to previous threads..... http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=exjpcnk3zjczn2y3dnflzuvfexkzntcmzmdizww3zjd2cwvlruv5etcwnjg3mtimexjpcnk3zjcxn2y3dnflzuvfexkz.
paterson -- the masons built their paterson headquarters to last.
in justifying why the former masonic temple should be considered a local historic landmark, gianfranco archimede, executive director of the paterson historic preservation commission, pointed to the building's mass.

It looks like the Stanley Theatre the JWs have is in Jersey City NJ and the Masonic Temple in at 224 Broadway, Paterson NJ.
The JW / Masonic connection continues. It says a group of JWs sold the property .. I wonder if that was a private sale by some wealthy 'brothers' or actually the WTBTS itself. -

Ever hear an experience at an assembly that you KNOW was slanted?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini remember one at a district assembly.
a brother was being interviewed as to why he never chose over time work at his job.
he said he worked for a small printing company and that he was content with working regular hours.

I was a young adult before I found out those experiences were not true.
One in particular I remember is a couple that got up and told how their 3 kids all grew up to be wonderful faithful JWs. I grew up with those kids and knew nothing could have been further from the truth.
