Faith in God and the Church - Part 2 of 2 The Catholic Faith
by Amazing inmy story is sub-titled so you can skip ahead to parts that interest you most.. by way of reminder, my posting on "faith in god and the church" is not meant to convert anyone, because i have been out of the preaching business now for 14-years.
i am sharing my views given the questions i get when i do post about belief in god or my association with the catholic church.. why the catholic church?
protestants, especially fundamentalists and evangelicals have a hard spot with the roman catholic church.

Musing over What is Karma, Rebirths, and the Illusions of the Senses
by frankiespeakin ini have finally had a little time to pause for some reflection, lately been either sick(flu) or fighting fatigue to get work done while sick with the flu.. one of my favorite pastimes is to tune into jwd and read all your arguements for and against things of the paranormal nature, mysticism, evolution, and things like these.
i do enjoy those that are of a scientific shaped logic and lean more heavily towards some of their well thought out replies, i see them as open minded for the most part, and know i would never be able to research to the degree they do the subject of evolution and patiently try to deal with some rather set in their ways creationist.
they have brought a wealth of information to our board, that no doubt help many rid themsevles of the god(of the bible) delusion, a rather mean and nasty delusion that many jws need to shake to make thier coming out of mind control more complete.. while i have given up on the god delusion pretty completely, i have not become a complete materialist.

zenism it really does seem that Paul, Jesus Christ and others were trying to share with us what they had experienced themselves but have been badly misunderstood. They were pointing to the One much bigger than human understanding.
I read somewhere that faith and awareness go hand in hand - not sure if i understood it correctly.

Hi Jim
thanks for telling us about your spiritual discoveries - very encouraging. I haven't been able to logon for a couple of days and reading your topic is very uplifting. I need now to go and read part 1.
I liked the universal aspect of catholicism that u drew attention to.
I had a convent education - grew up catholic before becoming a jw.
I remember when I was 14 - one of the nuns asked us in our scripture lesson if we believed in god. I very adamantly said I did not. She looked at me for a moment, I stared back defiantly. She let it pass, there was no confrontation or guilt, and she never mentioned the subject again, this despite the fact that the rest of the class followed my lead and said they didn't believe in god either. How different from jws.
thanks again

Looking back on my life I have come to the conclusion I never was a JW.
Nowadays in criticism my hubby tells me that all the time - I'm taking it as a compliment

found both Ray's books very beneficial.
As far as I'm concerned he did the best he could in the circumstances - although I hear what you are saying Terry.
I've learned a huge lesson about the harm we can do to one another and to ourselves when our identity as a group or even as a person becomes the all consuming thing on which our survival depends. Ray in COC conveys that very clearly.

I need to get my husband some help...
by mrsjones5 inmy husband has an ugly temper.
it rears it's ugly head rarely (well used to be rarely) and now it pops up mostly when my oldest boy messes up.
it's so bad that anyone seeing it would call it abuse.

Want to share my exp if it helps.
Was being attacked - one and only time - I immediately dialled the police. When my attacker realised what I was doing he stopped immediately, he got the message, never did it again.
However every situation is different. Weigh it up carefully then decide

The Preaching work has ended and now the end will come... have you heard ?
by thasmyquixtar5000 inthis one was too funny... sent to me by my brother an audio tape of a talk stating that the preaching work is now over and that witnesses are in every country in the world, except north korea, somila, and afganistan (excuse my miss spellings) but really this was just too funny so funny i could not even listen to the whole thing with out screaming in laughter.
the brother goes on to say that they will not be preaching in those countries becaues jehovah god will never put his people in danger and allow them to be killed... hello... what about all those that died over no blood, and what about all those in africa rewanda that the brother told to refuse to except an id card sumilar to our ss card telling those poor brothers that it was a form of worship?
i could not believe it but thought it was just tipical of the times, too many of the witnesses are leaving, and the love of the greater number has cooled the hell off... they are grabbing at straws right about now.

Hi and welcome
My jw neigbour reckons that the fact they are having to do the Revelation for the 4th time means that the end in imminent, much more so than before. It seems that they are beating their drums louder than ever.
meanwhile I'm having a good laugh at honesty's picture. The show ain't done yet
