ok so i have a bit of a dilemna, advise needed.

i was just on facebook, and somone sent me a pm saying they knew me from school.

so anyway i sent a reply saying how are you?

etc.. she then sent me another message to say how she was doing and then finished it with 'am i remembering correctly you're are in the truth?'.

Golden oppurtunity, maybe you have to much to loose though.

Since she is already using the internet, why not direct her to "apostate" sites under the pretense of showing her how rediculous the claims against jw's are.

The use terrible logic and overall poor reasoning to defend the jw's. Meanwhile compare it to other religions with similar problems to show how silly your "their" argument is. The point is to get her to defend and investigate the "apostates".

Just and idea as Ive found reasoning and arguing to be a complete waste of time. If it works and she takes the bait, go from being a brave defender of truth to uber paranoid about elders who dont want you to even dare to discuss such matters.

ive never been a jw, im just invloved with one.. so ive become a regular lurker and full time opposer.. i spend to much time here especialy at work.. today it paid off.

from my office window i watched the jw's pull up to the home across the street (third or fourth time ive seen them there).

i wanted to shout at them, but dont want to get fired.

So Ive become a regular lurker and full time opposer.

I spend to much time here especialy at work.

Today it paid off. From my office window I watched the JW's pull up to the home across the street (third or fourth time Ive seen them there). I wanted to shout at them, but dont want to get fired. Im not sure I want to debate them as I now know the futility of such an endevor. The residents of the home were not there (young disfunctional couple with kids). Well they "placed" a magazine in the door and left. Inspired by the oppurtunity to share this on here, I typed up a notice and attached to the mag. It was simple and stated: Notice to all Jehovah's Wittnesses and Bible Study Students, Please examine the following websites as they are vital to your future. Then I listed Freeminds and Silent Lambs.

Hopefully that will get them thinking.

is it possible to purchase/obtain (zion's watch tower) reprints or bound volumes, from a source that a jw could not object to.

the reason i ask is, i showd gf the article on freeminds "blacks and the watchtower".

she was appaled and of course argued that these were not really written by russel or any jw (in good standing).

im having a hard time understanding how someone or a group can read the bible and not have more then "obiesence" for jesus.

i dont want to argue about if he exists or not.

if you except the premise and the premise of the bible as inspired.

Thanks for your replies.

First of this was ment as a question, not a statement. I am just trying to understand how someone can read the bible (NT) and yet have so little ephasis on jesus. As I have feared its because they are not actually reading the bible.

The next question is then, if you can get them to read the bible. Will it make a difference, or wil they just make it fit their pre-concieved doctrine.

On a personal not I read the bible after years of being atheistic, and encountering some tough evengelical arguments. So I read it just to see what it actually said. I was amazed at the brutality of the old testament and left confused by the NT but clearly it is a book centered on jesus.

If you except the premise and the premise of the bible as inspired. How do JWs read the bible and not want to know more about Jesus.

I have a catholic/evengelical understanding so maybe my view poit is to skewed, but even if you set aside the trinity it seems as if the JWs are missing(hiding) something here. Im not sure I can articulate it actually I cant but maybe somebody here can.......please it driving me nuts.

since my girlfirend emphatically denies that they have ever sold their publication and are not door to door saleman, im wondering how this was done?.

IF you were a study was there a set amount you owed for the magazines and other publications you recieved.

Is there any pictures of magazines/books with a price printed on them, or an order form prices.

Ive tried to explain the swaggert aspect but of course, it just some apostate fraud from the internet.

Is manned space exploration a waste of money?

i was watching a program the other day, and it mentioned some interesting things about exploring space.

1. nothing has been found on other planets that we need or would benefit from.

rather the opposite, we have found hostile environments that would kill us.. 2. the cost to get a man to these places is astronomical, and not something that would reap benefit to our planet.. 3. so far, nothing within reasonable traveling distance has shown itself worth an effort that would require man, and would not be done easier with machine.. so with this in mind, other then the travel we see with the space shuttle in our own orbit, that has shown some medical breakthroughs and so on.

are the any provable misrepresentations, falsehoods, or lies in the proclaimers?.

I havent read appocalypse delayed, I am thinking of getting it and captive of a concept. Honestly though I am tired of reading about it. The more evidence the more frustrating it gets. I just want her to want to read this stuff. But Im a sucker so I will end up reading it and spoon feeding it to her.

She is a long term bible study, not babtized but of course confesses that if she was only worthy she would be babtized. Its only taken about a year or so, but we are now on chapter 8. However she has convinced herself that all the reprints are frauds, somehow they are out of context or forged. Even when they are proven to be true, she is sure that there is two sides of the story and pulls out the proclaimers book. This has backfired on her especially witht the Beth Sarim stuff. However she refuses to get the point, and parrots the wtbs. "It is gods organization, but there just imperfect men and some times make mistakes" then she convinces herself that those who made the mistake are no longer part of the organization. Hence the leading of the horse to water.

DS, I was afraid that it might be as you described, even scarier is the effectiveness. I hear my GF reciting there excuses verbatum. Always blaming the contorversy on those that "fell away". it is her primary source to refudiate anything critical of the WTBS especially CoC. I dont think she fully grasps contoveries, its easier to just explain them away as new light. Talk about leading a horse to water.
