I think we've scared all the JW's away. It seems like there are only a couple left posting.
Apparently they couldn't handle all the "hate and lies" of reasonable and sound arguments.
here we go folks.
a newly opened forum for knocking is now open on pbs's website.
let's not let the jw's overrun this with crap.

sf,
it took a day for mine.
Wow,...the posts and replies by many of the JW members on that forum are so illogical. Mind control (mental illness) is very apparent in their responses.
so my mom gave my sister in law the "what does the bible really teach?
" filth and i'm trying to read it.
my sil (never a jw) wants me to help her in some kind of reply to my mom.
Deputy,
Yep that's the book. It should arrive any day now. I'm looking forward to it.
Zico, AO, Metatron:
that is exactly what I'm looking for....excellent points. thanks!
in the spirit of jeff foxworthy's ," you might be a redneck ", describe the thing that we'd do that might just get you tagged as a jehovah's witness.
i'll start.
you're goin through a drive thru and the cashier gives you $2.00 too much in change, you return it after having driven 50 miles in the other direction.. .
If you visit laundrymats and never wash one piece of clothing......
....you might be a JW.
about 7 months ago i asked the school overseer to take me off the school, as i was 'busy with work exams' things have been good since then (well, sort of...) no talks for 7 months!
but then, my wonderful father, decides to ask the school overseer to put me back on!
he puts me back on!
Zico,
What chapters of the bible is it on? If any.

Thanks everyone!
Ok,...so Drew informed me that freeminds has a chapter by chapter book refuting the "Teach" book. I just ordered that and I will go through it with my SIL.
I appreciate your ideas and support.

I don't know where to start. The first two or three chapters are soooo irritating because it is written as if the audience is fifth graders.
Also,...and of course,...right away, scriptures are pulled way out of context to fit their doctrines.
Case in point:
Do you think Jehovah God's purpose for people to live in an earthly paradise will ever be realized? "I have even spoken it", God declares, "I shall also do it".(Is 46:9-11, Is 55:11)
So if you look up those scriptures, God says nothing about paradise earth.
Anyways, I'm wondering how my SIL should reply. The "Teach" book covers a lot which makes replying difficult.
Should we just pick one issue and go into detail about that particular point?
Should we give a short review of the entire book?
(my SIL is christian) Should we give her a christian book about the bible, grace, salvation, heaven, etc? I mean,...I know that she probably wouldn't read it, but my SIL could give it to her and say,...look I will read yours if you read mine. Then we can discuss the two.
SIL-"Be honest with me,...will you read this book?"....my mom,..."no sorry, I can't",...SIL- "well, I'm sorry here's your "Teach" book back I can't read this either. Or she could ask,..."why is it that I can read anything you give me but you can't read one iota of anything I give you?"
Any ideas on an approach to a reply?
hey everyone,...in your opinion, (1) what scripture or passages in the bible completely go against jdub doctrine?
scriptures that the dubs really can't answer or really can't fit into their equation,...thus, they go unnoticed or avoided.
(2) or,...what scriptural proof should be in the bible to back their doctrinal claims.
Thanks everyone.
none of the arguments could *impress* an active JW much. no showstopper.
Unfortunately, more often than not, this is right,...however,...I would like to build a very large arsenal of passages that are problematic to JW doctrine for myself.

6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,
"Let all God's angels worship him."
Why are the angels supposed to worship Jesus but "God's people" are not supposed to worship him?

For example,...there is no commandment in the bible where believers are to attend the memorial as observers but not to partake.
i have been a member on this site for a few months now and this is my first post.
anyways, my mother is a loyal jw and i often email her asking questions hoping to give rise to contradictions in the her beliefs.
i recently asked her when and why the cross was replaced with the stake.
Whatup little bro?
So you've been talking to mom about the cross huh?
Everyone left excellent comments,...let me know how it goes.
Have you shown her the scripture jwfacts brought up?
John 20:25; "unless I see in his hands the print of the nails and stick my finger into the print of the nail s and stick my hand into his side, I will certainly not believe".
Jesus had nails in this hands. Yet Watchtower pictures always have a nail in this wrists. When I showed that to my 14yo daughter she couldn't believe that JWs don't notice it.
....and I like dust's reasoning....the Roman Empire was pagan and they were in charge of the execution. What was stopping pagan Rome from using a pagan execution device?
