Around where I live, a far larger majority truly believe everythin they're taught.
The only people I can see as possibly being doubters are my age. And thats about 5%-10% of our congregation.

Percentage of JW's that are undercover?
by flipper inwhat do you think?
it seems like a lot are there so they won't lose family and friends - are in good standing but don't actually believe.

If science could let you live forever, would you take it?
by Paralipomenon inan ethical question for theists.
if science started to make some progress in extending our lifespan and eventually made a breakthrough that halted the aging process, even able to reverse it.
would you accept such a treatment, or allow yourself to grow old and die to take a chance at an afterlife.

It would probably be REALLY expensive, everyone would want it.
I'd pay for my family first, then myself. So long as they live forever, I'm happy.
I'd love to fully explore the world. It's just too big for one lifetime. -

Welcome Whimsy!!
by crazyblondeb ini was df'd a few years ago and reinstated within 6 months (i was apparently very 'fortunate' aka lucky), but i've been fading ever since really.
i think i really only got reinstated because i missed my family and friends... it's hard when you were raised in the truth and don't know a soul in the world.
i keep moving, so it's pretty easy to remain anonymous at the hall.

Backwards music
by Anony-Mouse inof course, i'd heard the rumors of subliminal messages that all the jws say from time to time.
but it's been quite a while, so i had forgotten about it.
i've been cruising older songs, and i came across a nice little song on youtube.

Are you sure? It sounded amazingly convincing.
And the forward lyrics are strange in the first place. -

Ever heard of "Stairway to Heaven"? :P
Anyways, I pretty much loved it for a few days. So I'm searchin around for more led zeppelin songs. And I come across "Stairway to Heaven backwards"
I think "How strange, I wonder what that means?" So I listen to it.
It can't be! Not my lovable song!
So I record it myself, and reverse it myself...yep, they're talkin about Satan :P .
It's just so sad. I can't bring myself to like this song anymore. It bothers me, and its a bit annoying.
I guess I'll move on to the next classic band. I wanted to check out Pink Floyd. I hope they have no subliminal messages :P . -

Distancing boredom then and now
by greendawn inwhat did you do when feeling bored as a jw, was it easy to find outlets of dammed back emotions for frustrated energies?
if there was no internet at the time and sex outside marriage was barred and the jw society was hard to penetrate and associate with?
i used to go for socialising with "worldly" people purchasing pornography and watching blue movies.

Crumpet....ya single? :P
I get bored some. I'm home all the time and don't work. I hardly ever get to talk to people...
MSN allows me to talk to people every night tho. That's been my major, and basically only release for years. Those poor people that hear me rant :P . -

Does 100% Pollution Free electricity cost less than fossil fuel now???
by Elsewhere ini'm a bit skeptical, but i thought i would give it a shot.. i've been watching my electric bill with reliant electricity and over the last year it has gone from $0.09 per kwh to about $0.15 per kw.
i looked around and discovered that green mountain, which provides 100% wind and water electricity, is charging about $0.13 per kwh.. could it be true???
could 100% renewable and pollution free energy actually cost less than fossil fuels and nuclear energy now???

Wind, solar, and water power cost nothing to generate power, the earth does the work for them.
Besides the overhead, which normal power stations need, and maintainance, they cost less methinks.
But the amount of raw power you get is less, so it needs to be rationed. -

An Idea For Training Your Teenager
by metatron ini know a hardworking father who wanted to keep his intelligent daughter away from obsessing about boys and empty headed fashion.. so, he started an on line brokerage account in her name and funded it with $3000.
he told her to study the stock market and that she could.
keep any money she makes.

I have never obsessed over a boy...
Girls however...
But I could totally handle the stock market AND girls. I've got multitasking skills like that. And I could make money at it, too. -

What is your preferred method of communication?
by Crumpet ini was prompted to think further about this today when i was reading the following in a book called "headhunters":.
"e-mails are a love of mine.
i prefer them to communicating by word of mouth.

Mostly in person.
But seeing as how most of my freinds are online, Window's live is where I do most of my 'talking'. Cuz I'm a fast typer too. 80 WPM, boo ya.
