my life personally has taken a much more positive turn after leaving the religion.
less stress to be having nights taken up with meetings droning on.
lots more time for reading new things on life, hobbies, trips to take, i enjoy cooking for my wife.
Technically I'm still a JW (as a fader), but the short answer is ....YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!
I savour the freedom, not having to report hours of Field Service, sleeping in on Saturday mornings, enjoying meeting-free evenings and weekends with my husband, attending university, taking extra classes, fostering new and treasured friendships.
Life was meant to be happy, not depressing with the continuous cycle of impending doom.

i for one was trying to reach out for ministerial servant again in the early 90's , had been one before, and was assigned to carry the microphones one meeting.
had an elder call me in the back room and say , " brother flipper, i noticed looking down towards your shoes that you are wearing white socks today.
maybe because I was overly "blessed" in the female chest department they knew that saying anything would have meant being obvious about looking. My small rebellion was just letting the cleavage out to breath some days

I remember a couple of sisters who were counselled for being "too put together" in other words they looked great! Nice dress--matching shoes and purse and nice makeup. They were told that they were spending too much time on their dress! CAN'T WIN, HUH!
OOOOhhh ... If I didn't know better, I'd think you were describing my congo! I was always hounded for that very reason! One time they even threw in the "materialistic" label just for the fun of it. Can you say ...... J E A L O U S ....
A social class would have been welcome in my former congo ... much more worthwhile than the Theocratic Misery School.

Those tract blitzes are even worse than the usual 'street work' blitzes that happen every month's end. Witlesses are everywhere at the end of the month! No need to guess who didn't make up their hours for the month. They just stand there ... in front of the ATM... in front of the copy shop ... at the bus stop ... everywhere! Do they have any idea of how much business they're costing the establishments they're standing in front of?

it goes on further to state that should a dedicated, baptised christian choose to marry an "unbeliever", his/her parents (whether elder, ministerial servant or pioneer) should not give "tacit approval"to the marriage... moral support, financial support for wedding, reception etc.. .

Yet still, the Congregation Service Committee (changed from "body of elders) are allowed to give permission for 2 "unbelievers" (unbaptised publishers) to be wedded at a Kindgom Hall... because they are "dedicated"?????? Does regular meeting attendance, and awaiting an assembly to get baptised translate into being "dedicated"?

long before we 'figured it out', i think we were tiring of the whole routine and demands, though we could not admit such openly, even to each other for the most part.
but i recall occasionally 'oversleeping', and in some cases i had woke early enough but just intentionally let time go by and got up 'running late'.
our family 'tradition' was to stop for breakfast at a local restuarant on the way to the kh.
"JW hooky" was one of my favourite activities! Watchtower hooky, Public Talk hooky, Theocratic Ministry School hooky, Service Meeting hooky, Bookstudy hooky, FS hooky, CO visit hooky, District Convention hooky, Circuit Assembly hooky, Memorial hooky ... Ive done them all! Of course it all became easier once I'd moved out, but even in my parents' home I enjoyed playing hooky nonetheless.
so sis in law father has been on dialysis for yrs and is elderly and hubby just got a text from his bro 'just so you don't put your foot in it ******'s father is stopping dialysis this wk and has 2 wks to live' (hes a jw too).
so i said to hubby he should reply and mention how sorry we are but he said why as they're treating me(dobs) like dirt and he doesn't see why he should.
but although they have cut me out now totally it seems i still think i should do something.
Showing human caring could never be wrong. Even though they shun you, show them you can step up higher than they do. Even if they choose to rip the card up and dispose of it, at least you did your part.
