Three Sisters Came by the house yesterday
by purplesofa ini saw a car pull up in the driveway.
i was at my computer trying to order some tickets from ticketmaster, having a hard time with some details.. then i saw one sister, two then three get out of the car......up to my door.. i had a towel on my head (just got done coloring my hair) new clothes pulled out in the living room for my grand daughter, she was laid out of the sofa watching hannah montana.........i looked like hell.
they, of course, all dressed up.. it was around two, and i figure they had been out in service and was finishing up their time.

One sister said for me to call her if I ever needed a ride to the meetings!!!!
How laughable! How about if you were starving and needed a meal, or were injured and needed a ride to the hospital ... could you call her then too? -

ok, got some more info (just a little ) on the elders school at bethel.
by ?me? inok, so i am at my in-laws house and i see a letter from the society that is laying out .
it seems that the elders school is going on between february and june on 2008. they want you to mark every week you are available to come to the school (to increase your chance of being selected).
they even have a spot if you are not going to attend.

If what they have to say at this elders' school is soooo important, Zzzzzzzzz you would think they'd use a more efficient way of disseminating the information. -

Did you mind if a JW worked where you worked ?
by JH inif you had the choice, when you were an active good jw, would you have prefered to work with a jw in your work place or not to have any around ?.

By all means YES I did mind! They were waaaay too nosy! I remember one time I made a remark to another co-worker that I had plans for the weekend, the "sister" found it appropriate to butt in with "I hope those plans include meetings!" Jeez! Just imagine, this dried-up, unattractive spinster talking absolute nonsense about meetings in the middle of my conversation with someone else.
Another time, my Saturday-night movie watching was interrupted by a phone call from the PO asking me about an "inappropriate relationship" with a worldly man. What? I hadn't a clue what he was talking about! Turns out this busybody sister found I was talking to the guy too much for her liking, and made it her business to call the PO and inform him. She didn't know what congo I was from and ended up calling the wrong PO. He then conveyed the info onto my PO. At the next meeting, he and another elder questioned me at the front of the Hall about it, complete with opening prayer and everything! My only answer was ... where's the proof? Never heard of the issue again.

Help - running out of "excuses" for not attending meetings
by truthseeker inmy situation as some of you know, i'm married and my wife is a jw and still wants to go to meetings.
i on the other hand do not.. over the last few years, i have suffered with poor health and i also studied, so when i was studying i would say "i'm at college/doing homework/taking exams" which for the most part was true.. i also have ill health, suffer with chronic chest infections for part of the year.. trouble is, people at the hall are having a hard time buying my excuses, or if my wife tells them the reason i'm not there, they now start giving her the eyeroll, or they say to her "well, you're here and so am i.".
not one of the elders calls to see where i am, what they can do.

is it fair for congregation members to ask after your health? If they really cared, shouldn't they be calling you up themselves? Should she feel obligated to answer their questions?
I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment!. Your wife should never feel obligated to answer their questions about you. Maybe she should say something like: "Oh my husband would be so happy to know you asked about him! He'd feel even better if he could hear your concern directly. Here's his number."

Mmmmmmm ... Dark chocolate's one of my absolute favorites! Of course I'm an equal-opportunities kinda gal so I really don't discriminate. I'll take any kind ... white, milk, dark, truffles, fruit and nut, coconut, Belgian, Portuguese ... (jeez, now my mouth is watering)

Why not? I was the one who proposed to my husband (and it wasn't even a leap year) ... he said YES!

I remember the worst winter ever in my life when the elders told my sister and I that we could not wear out floor length maxi-coats because they were too stylish.
OMG!!! TOO STYLISH??????? Gimme a break! What in heaven's name's wrong with being stylish? Why can't you be stylish while representing the "Most High God" anyway? Floor-length garments in winter are more a necessity than anything else! These people make the Pharisees look like saints!

How many marriages are just "Theocratic"? Here's a story.....
by WingCommander inhere's my story......better have a barf bag nearby.
a while back i had stopped in to see an old elder friend of the family whom only lives a few miles away.
a stout, kind hearted gentleman with two sons.

A "Theocratic" marriage? Sounds pretty "sterile" to me ... no joy, no fun, no excitement, no happiness, no companionship ... no nothing! Zzzzzzzzz.....
Just mere days of existence filled with field circus, meetings, meetings and more meetings, book study, personal study, pioneering, commenting .... blech!
