The phrase "cause for stumbling" often left me bewildered. To me it seemed to be only an excuse for the elders to tell you what to do counsel you and impose their own opinions on you. Maybe I did something in the past that "stumbled" someone, but aren't we all able to make our own decisions when it comes to conduct and choices ... at least we should be, especially if it isn't regarding something inherently wrong. Doesn't the "stumbler" have the choice to do what they want to, while the "stumbled" person have the choice to be/ not to be "stumbled"?

Proof: Watchtower "Following Christ" is a Fraud (wt8/1/07)
by metatron inthe august 1 watchtower contains a life story by a sister stigers "who finished her earthly course on april 20, 2007".
if you think that this cult.
has suddenly re-found jesus, forget it.

This was mentioned in another post, but perhaps there's an ulterior motive in the titling of the article. The word "Christ" simply means "annointed", which in turn refers to the FDS. If they had really meant "Following Jesus", they would have surely mentioned him.

Guilt over a happy marriage
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inlong before i began my fade, there was a certain "sister" in the congo who married a non-jw man.
she was very happily married despite of all the forecasts of "doom and gloom" among the "friends".
how sad it was to hear her make the following comment in conversation - "sometimes i feel badly about marrying an unbeliever, since other sisters may look at me and follow my example.

I have also heard happily married , "unevenly yoked" sisters say, "I am happy now, but we will be separated at Armegeddon and I will pay for my disobedience then.
Jeez, how ridiculous! I'm also married to an "unbeliever", but he's a better husband than many "brothers" can ever hope to be! I don't feel the least bit guilty, and have no intentions of allowing anyone to make me feel guilty. What if Armageddon doesn't come within my lifetime, I would have lost the opportunity to have such a darling husband.

So what if they follow your example? I thought being happily married was a great thing!

the literal meaning of CHRIST is "anointed." So the convention theme might be re-phrased as "Follow the Anointed."
Things to make you go hmmmmmm...............

There's plenty of "college degree envy" out there among the dubs.
Aaaahhh yes .... you hit the nail on the head.....E.N.V.Y.
What a ridiculous comment for a speaker to make. How in hell do they expect the "Paradise" and "New System" to work filled with only uneducated people. I'd rather die at Armageddon.

Did You Take Your "Ministry" Seriously?
by minimus insince all jehovah's witnesses are "ministers" and are to act like "watchmen" so as to not be bloodguilty before jehovah god, would you say that you, personally were a fine zealous preacher?
did you make sure that you accurately kept your house-to-house records up to date?
did you make sure you were back in a timely fashion once you placed literature?

Did you make sure that you accurately kept your house-to-house records up to date?
Never in all my years have I filled out any those things!
Did you make sure you were back in a timely fashion once you placed literature?
Placing literature? What does that mean?
Did you follow through with making return visits to cultivate them into bible studies?
Nope. Those "return visits" on my field service report were fake.

Did You Like Your Congregation?
by minimus inthe hall i was in the last few years was not a bad place.
most of the people were middle class, some had college educations (like the po and his wife); they generally weren't over critical.
of course there were a few elders and publishers that were pains but for the most part the people in that hall were pretty decent.

The very first one I was in as a child ... yes. After that one, I never felt like I fit in to any of them.

Wedding Anniversaries vs. Birthdays
by PopeOfEruke injw's often have big parties or "gatherings" to celebrate wedding anniversaries, esp.
for the big milestones (20th, 50th anniversary etc).. the process of these parties almost exactly mimic a typical birthday celebration: the couple of honour sit up the front, various people give speeches, show "honour" to the happy couple, there is a meal and drinks, usually an anniversary cake.. exactly the same as a birthday party.. so why is it ok to celebrate an anniversary of a wedding but not the annoversary of a birth??
when it's usually the "wedding" which sooner or later results in a birth??

It certainly is! There's also the flurry of sheperding calls, dumb "local needs" talks, and everyone acting all giddy and stupid just because the great CO is here ... How pathetic indeed. Why does HE get all the idolatry and I can't celebrate my OWN birthday?
