They explained it as being divided in your affections to please your spouse rather than God.
I guess that wouldn't apply if you're married to the Stepford-Wife-JW-drone type right? |
as an active jw i remember hearing that individuals who chose to marry would have "tribulation in the flesh".
what exactly is the jw interpretation of that phrase?
any ideas?.

Umbrella phrase ... okay, I suppose it joins the ranks of all the other unverifiable, indiscernible principles. |

As an active JW I remember hearing that individuals who chose to marry would have "tribulation in the flesh". What exactly is the JW interpretation of that phrase? It always had an eerie, vague explanation that never really made sense to me. Any ideas? |
has someone started a christmas card exchange list yet for this year?
we did this in the past and it was such fun to get all the great cards.. .
Hope it's not too late to join in ... I just discovered this thread! Please count me in. |
i was reading the thread about the prospect of the wts releasing some new light shite about a prophecy to fulfil the fact that they are not growing and it brought back a really horrid memory, unintentional i know but horrid nonetheless.. the co visited the congregation were i was from and after the obligatory song and prayer, it was announced that the co needed to speak to us urgently on a local needs issue.
he came onto the platform his look was sombre and melancholy (nothing new there then).
he said he had an announcement from the governing body and that their had been a law passed that day which banned jw's in the uk that the usa and other world governments had notified the wts that they were to follow suit shortly.
I think any logical thinking person would know that JW's aren't (news-wise anyway) the "You've heard it here first" crowd That's quite true. After all, congregations only encounter the CO twice every 12 months! If an announcement like that were real, it would be more practical for the local POs to give it in their relevant congos. Tsk ... and to think his talk was considered "powerful". |
" it is never too late to be what you might have been".
i read this today and thought of you.
purps.

i saw a car pull up in the driveway.
i was at my computer trying to order some tickets from ticketmaster, having a hard time with some details.. then i saw one sister, two then three get out of the car......up to my door.. i had a towel on my head (just got done coloring my hair) new clothes pulled out in the living room for my grand daughter, she was laid out of the sofa watching hannah montana.........i looked like hell.
they, of course, all dressed up.. it was around two, and i figure they had been out in service and was finishing up their time.
One sister said for me to call her if I ever needed a ride to the meetings!!!!How laughable! How about if you were starving and needed a meal, or were injured and needed a ride to the hospital ... could you call her then too? |
ok, so i am at my in-laws house and i see a letter from the society that is laying out .
it seems that the elders school is going on between february and june on 2008. they want you to mark every week you are available to come to the school (to increase your chance of being selected).
they even have a spot if you are not going to attend.
If what they have to say at this elders' school is soooo important, Zzzzzzzzz you would think they'd use a more efficient way of disseminating the information. |
if you had the choice, when you were an active good jw, would you have prefered to work with a jw in your work place or not to have any around ?.

By all means YES I did mind! They were waaaay too nosy! I remember one time I made a remark to another co-worker that I had plans for the weekend, the "sister" found it appropriate to butt in with "I hope those plans include meetings!" Jeez! Just imagine, this dried-up, unattractive spinster talking absolute nonsense about meetings in the middle of my conversation with someone else.
Another time, my Saturday-night movie watching was interrupted by a phone call from the PO asking me about an "inappropriate relationship" with a worldly man. What? I hadn't a clue what he was talking about! Turns out this busybody sister found I was talking to the guy too much for her liking, and made it her business to call the PO and inform him. She didn't know what congo I was from and ended up calling the wrong PO. He then conveyed the info onto my PO. At the next meeting, he and another elder questioned me at the front of the Hall about it, complete with opening prayer and everything! My only answer was ... where's the proof? Never heard of the issue again.
what song would you play to freak all of them out
