I know it isn't the same, but think of all the spiritual children you have since you left the WT--all those who came to your group!
I'm praying that God will give you a special blessing today!

as you can see from my posts i'm new here.
i was born and raised in the borg....dad was/is an elder.
i never liked the religion simply because it stopped me having fun like other "normal" kids.
Hi Adophius and welcome to JWD
Your experience in Iraq was horrific!
Then I saw this morning that my own parents hold exactly the same belief. So now far from thinking this is querky little religion that can be laughed at and provide amusement for the rest of us, I now see it as completely evil. As a result of this I don't really want anything to do with my parents. If they are that evil, just because they are my own flesh and blood,it doesn't mean I shoould make an exception for them.
If you really want to help your parents to see that they are under the mind control of an evil cult, you might want to consider taking your time and planting seeds, rather than cutting them off. Where else do you think they will be exposed to the type of information and questions that you could ask? Certainly not in the KH!
Just a thought, no doubt others better than I will have other ideas for you.
to the monitor(s) that bethel assigns to watch websites such as this one:.
we all know that bethel is especially going to be monitoring "apostate" websites, such as this one, in the light of their apparently massive settlements to ensure that their gag orders for the lawsuits are kept (if someone was going to break it, this is likely the first place they'd turn!).
later on today there will be press conferences disclosing that "some" settlements have been reached, for "some" amount of money.
WOW. She must really be a popular gal up there in the North Country, lol.
WE LOVE MOUTHY UP HERE IN THE NORTH COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!
Doubting Bro: Your comments are very sensible and tender-hearted. I hope someone will listen, but I do have doubts, after all, they haven't exactly listened to Jesus yet, have they?
“For whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, warned Jesus, it is better for him that a heavy millstone be hung around his neck, and that he be drowned in the depth of the sea (Matt. 18:6).
Bethel monitors: how many of these little ones have been stumbled by YOUR LACK OF ACTION?? Do you remember who your judge is going to be? If not for the children, do this for your own conscience and standing before Jehovah. Do the right thing!
i just finished the book by ray franz, coc, and for some reason i'm madder than ever at this organization!!!
i've been out for over 20 years and now i'm even more pissed off!!!!
why am i so angry at things i already knew although i'm sure i've just repressed them over the years and got on with my life, anyone else have this anger problem after reading this book, or is it just me??.
I had to keep putting the book down, pace around the room a bit, work off the anger and stress, then pick it up again, only to put it down several pages later, pace around the room a bit... well, you get the idea--it took me a long time to get through it, then I had to start from the beginning again because I missed some of it the first time.
Especially after I read that the GB would make important issues based on a 2 / 3 majority vote! And here I thought that they prayed all night before they carefully came to a wise decision...NOT!!!
I was especially surprised to hear about the ones that slept through the discussion and then woke up to vote, or who had not considered the topic to be discussed before the meeting, no Bible study before hand, just going with the party line... This is supposed to be Jehovah's spirit-led organization, carelessly making decisions and policies that affect the minute details of their followers lives??
press release 07-038 .
ancient t. rex and mastodon protein fragments discovered, sequenced.
68-million-year-old t. rex proteins are oldest ever sequenced.
It looks like something I plopped on my grill last weekend
lol, Perry!
Excellent points made. We all have the same evidence, and we will choose to interpret it based on our own worldview and presuppositions.
well it has finally happened.my wife is not going back to the meetings again.as you would probably read in my previous posts, i have written a book about my experience in the watchtower organisation which is on the verge of being published.she still tried to cling to what little belief she had in the borg and did not want to read my manuscript.we discussed many of the issues and concerns i had about the watchtower but most of the times it ended in a heated argument.. i was quite surprised when she approached me about two weeks ago and asked to read my manuscript.after reading it she handed it back to me and said she fully supports me in publishing this book.her eyes have been opened to the deception and lies.i think she and a friend had a bad experience calling on one of her so-called jw friends.furthermore, she did not attend this past weekends circuit assembly..
hooray!!!.
all i have to do now is to introduce her to all you wonderful people here on jwd.. jakes.
Thank you for sharing such an encouraging story with the board. I bet many would like to hear some more details when you are able to share them!
On the way out: Fabulous post of celebration!
i sent out wedding invitations last week.
apparently they caused my parents to get a divorce.
i got an e-mail from my mother saying that she left my dad, is filing for divorce, and that dad thinks she left because she wants to go to my wedding and he won't let her.
Renee:
I'm so sorry that your family is continuing to cause you grief and pain. I hope that you are able to rely on Jesus to give you the strength you need to cope during this stressful time! Remember that he knows exactly what you are going through--he was rejected and shunned too. Maybe you will still get a chance to share his love with your family at some point.
many libraries do not have copies yet, as it is far from 'mainstream' reading for most people.
i propose that we can all do a small deed that can/might be a huge favor to our former 'brethren' in the 'truth'.
check with the local library, see if they have the books on the shelves.
I read somewhere that the reason libraries are out of these books is that possibly the JWs check the books out and "lose" them. Maybe they felt it was worth it to pay for a "lost" book than to risk having other JWs read this. They absolutely do not want any other JWs to know this "forbidden" information. Unfortunately for them, now the internet has defeated them in their crusade to hide information and silence critics.
I think that Mouthy told me she has donated several copies of COC to the local library and they keep getting "lost". Maybe she can comment on this. Mouthy, where are you today?
i still have a belief in god and through advice from an ex-witness in another part of the country by e-mail decided to try a local gospel hall...mostly for company as all my ex-friends are jw.s and my whole social framework has collapsed since i started questioning....i drove up to it and was going to go in...what stopped me though was i don't really know the procedure at the hall and didn't want to stand out like a sore thumb..plus the usual ex-witness trepidation of doing am i doing the right thing...what should i do?...i have to tread carefully as my wife and family are still in the truman show....awaiting your advice and/or sarcasm....(ninja puts his hard hat on..enters the trench..)...ok guys and gals ...shoot
As has been noted, there is a wide variance in the churches--all depending on their particular historical roots (other than the Catholic churches which are fairly uniform, I believe).
The gospel hall is a part of the Plymouth Brethren movement, which was a reaction against the Church of England--has some similarities to the JWs in terms of calling their building a hall not a church, being elder run (although usually locally governed). That means no pastor per say, but sometimes they will have a "full-time worker" or "teaching elder". I can see why you might have had this suggested to you. However, there can be some peculiarities in the Halls, too, and I hate to say it, but some of the Brethren are "exclusive" which means they are rather cultic in their thinking and behaviour. Not all are so I cannot say what the Hall is like that you are considering. It is often helpful before attending a service anywhere to try and talk to someone first before going. It also gives you a familiar face or name among all the new faces.
I encourage you on your desire to explore a relationship with God outside the organization. You will find it to unlike what you were told at the KH. Remember, Jesus taught about a relationship not a membership. Keep reading your Bible and see what that is all about!
well, i left around january or february, and it's been about 3 months or so experiencing "worldly" living.
i gotta say...it's been an interesting and uncomfortable transition, to say the least.
i would just like to update everyone on how i'm doing, and share some of my worldly experiences, as well.
I forgot to say that you could check with some local churches and see what activities they have planned for their college aged group. Usually there will be something going on that you could attend and meet some new people. It could be a place to start....also, is there an exJW group in your area? That might be good too.
