They still like em young due to health costs. Older missionaries cost more.

That reminded me of the "dread encouragement." Isn't this one of the reasons AllTimeJeff realized this religion was full of crap? He went to a foreign country and dang near died and the Watchtower didn't give a rat's tail about him. He would have died, and they would have chalked it off like, "oh well. These things happen."
Well, that didn't help.
The whole purpose of Gilead is to get you to think that Jehovah picked the Governing Body and the 4 Presidents of the WTBTS. If you believe that, then yeah, there is dread upon you.
Think about it. The average missionary makes it just 2 years. 56 people a class. 112 missionaries a year. It's a numbers game. The more they can scare up, the better off they will be.

What if you admitted you don't mind being destroyed @ Armaggedon?
by Knowsnothing inisn't that pretty much the end of a conversation with a jw?.
honestly, now that i think about it, what is the difference between judgment day(armaggedon) and death?.
just curious to see how my friends and relatives would react if i responded that way... .

If god wants to destroy me, all that means is that he is more powerful. It also means I am more loving then she is. Whatever...
This whole concept pre-supposes that god WILL destroy YOU.
What if, just what if... (hold on here...)
....what if god isn't going to destroy you or anyone?
That's a cool thought isn't it? I bet it's even true. :)

So many people who want to believe in god feel that they must do so,
1. With a group
2. Aided by a really old book translated thousands of years ago from its close to extinct language.
3. or else god will "get em!"
I don't need a group, a book, and am not in fear of my life.
It's an interesting thing that happens to your spirituality when you let go of fear and pre-instilled ideas you have accepted but never tested. Good luck!

Religious Reform
by Maze inas a bible based organization, how do feel jehovah's organization should be reformed?
the answer is quite simple in christendoms churches:.
1. reject false doctrines like the trinity and 'all christians go to heaven' and use of images in worship.. .

*sigh* I will indulge the poor persecuted Maze since I haven't been here in a while.
Maze, I have one question. Do you still want to be a JW?
Just answer yes or no. I am not trying to bait you.

Hey there Palmtree. Doing well. Getting better all the time. :)
Sweeny, I think that former JW's are so programmed with "the truth" thing in there heads, that it takes time to realize and understand that there are many truths, not just one.
The only truth that needs to be (belief system wise) is yours.
That's why it is good not to let JW's like Maze sh*t stir and get you upset. The truth is, I don't care about JW's anymore. They are a fringe group that I happened to be born into. Now that I am living a "normal" life, they are still a fringe group that I no longer belong to.
I've learned it's good not to chase down crazy groups and try to show them how wrong they are. They don't need a lecture, they need meds.
That pesky person in the mirror is worthy of a lot more of your attention then JW's.

Hi Maze. Having been to Gilead (class 119, thanks for asking) and all the "studying" and "knowledge" that comes with that, all I can tell you is, you're wrong. JW's are wrong.
But if you want to continue to believe that JW's are right and that you want to still be one, be my guest!
See you in 2014. ;)

Seven Thousand Year Creative Day still being taught (as of 2005)
by VM44 inhere is a photo of a gilead instructor (br.
liverance) teaching a class on chronology.. the photo appears in a blog entry dated 5-21-2005.. note the "6,000" and "1,000" periods in the timeline drawn on the whiteboard.. i thought the 7,000 year creative day was no longer taught, but apparently it still is at gilead, at least in the year 2005.. (picture cannot be embedded here for some reason, so here is the link to it).

Hehe. That picture is the back of my head. That's Wally Liverance. Talking about the 7000 years. I know who took that picture too.
All I can tell you after 6 years is that uh, he had it wrong. ;)
