Let's Hear it For Simon -Thanks For This Board - And All it Accomplishes
by flipper ini think it's only appropriate to put out a thread to thank simon for the great job he does in moderating this board, watching over discussions to make sure that the purpose of jwd discussion stays focused .
i believe that he and the mods do a great job in helping this board along in it's journey - and enables us to have the freedom of speech- without having fear of reprisal - as long as the guidelines are met.
so, i for one would like to personally thank you simon - for bringing this board into existence, as it has helped many to be able to vent after leaving the jehovah's witnesses cult, and get support, and for others it has helped them have a great place to discuss many important topics that have a heavy play in many of our lives !

Simon, thank you so very much for this site. It helps me, though I left many years ago, to keep up the news (changes, lawsuits, and other problems) within the JW organization. It encouraging to hear from others here that have developed their analytical skills and have free minds now against such odds created by the WTS.

WTS writers/reseachers pool dwindling?
by Gayle inmany of the long time writers and researchers at the headquarter have died (fred franz, karl klein, karl adams (awake editor), dan sydlik, harry peloyan etc.
) and others disfellowshipped (ray franz, ed dunlap) they were in the 'inner circle' of bethel.
then last week on the "conference call" with barbara anderson (a female, i don't think was even close to being acceptable for such 'researching' in the '70s) and jay hess talked there who did research and contributed writing (they mentioned a couple others) have been disfellowshipped.

So years ago, many new books (larger books) would come out at assemblies. Now there are less books (and smaller). Who are the writers there now? Any of GB writers or researchers now, specifically? Their 'spiritual' food never was fresh, just terminal hash, and getting worse.

Thank you for the posting. I have been following the story and glad Canada courts have taken this stand. I think there is another case in Canada going on by a JW family with teenage daughter given a blood transfusion against her wishes and another Canadian case by Lawrence Hughes (whose daughter has since died) in a follow up case on June 20.

Will there ever be another Ray Franz?
by nicolaou inwill any other governing body member - present or future - ever have as much impact as he did.
will anyone else have enough strength of character, personal integrity and balls to step down and speak out?.

Ray was a constant researcher and writer there and truly was one of the most interesting commentors when it was his week for morning text (when the GB took weekly turns) and yet one of the humblest. Most were not such reseachers nor writers, commented only from literature that we had already read (I could only think, where's the coffee!) . 25 years later and with only 9 GB presently (2 very, very old, 3 very old, and 4 past 55+, where will 'they' go? Any of them writers much? reseachers much? Where can they get their 'free' thinking? Time will tell but I am not hearing much hope about them. The only possible hope can be from others, the crying 'lambs', the families losing loved ones due to the blood doctrinairism, and, of course, we the survivors!

Current elder explains the college situation to me
by changeling inwhile he says he has not seen a letter ,he tells me that at the last visit the co told his body of elders pretty much what is being said here on jwd.. he gave some examples: .
1- if a young ms/pioneer, attends college and lives at home, would he and his elder dad be deleted?
the young man is "spiritually focused".. 2- an elder's daughter attends college in the hopes of having a good job in the future and dad promotes this course of action.

The Headquarters at Bethel is such a hypocrite on this. It almost demands that its youth don't go to college, so the organization can have a lot of free labor from their youth to do the 'grunt' work. However, clearly they call in college degreed people to do their special works, attorneys, doctors, nurses, dentists, computer technicians, CPAs, etc. and those people clearly are an upper class there. No question about it!

**** who is a young anointed Ministerial Servant, says the Elders and Ministerial Servants at his hall met and were read a letter this past week from Watchtower headquarters. It says that from now on the Body Of Elders (BOE) is not to consider for appointments any JW who is attending college or who has a child attending college.
This was a quote on the Conference Call, hosted by Rick Fearon yesterday. So this seems to be also a 'recent' letter and I hope soon there can be a possible scan of this letter. Often the Watchtower gets away with verbal statements and since people don't get it in print, then it can be denied at a future date that the WTS ever said such and such since it may not have been directly printed in the Watchtower.

Other KC DC highlights
by stillajwexelder inmanuscript talk - denim is bad - then a whole item on low cut tops, tight clothing, long slits etc - and bra straps showing (you can not make this shit up) is also bad.
last but one item - desperate need for brothers to reach out - cant form congregations if brothers dont reach out.
