So happy for your experience! I guess the odds are getting greater for such an occurence since the greater percentage of youth are leaving the JW cult. But what great timing! Best Wishes!

Just got my copy of "Crisis of Conscience"
by JimmyPage inafter finishing "combatting cult mind control" i decided to move on to the next logical book.
i've read the first 100 pages of "crisis of conscience" and it's gone by really fast.
now i know why this book is so important.

I bring these books mentioned here in this thread to the West Phoenix ex-JW Meetup monthly to share/loan with others. I have other books written by x-JWs of their lives,,like "Out of the Cocoon", "Mother's Club",, and some one brought at the last Meetup "Has anyone Seen my Mother?." I got it and read it within a few days. Everyone goes on with their lives, some impacted in different ways more or less, but we all have a commoness of our past. Our group is diversified but we have a wonderful understanding support group, non-doctrinal and non-judgemental, and share even much humor with our unique past.

i can remember a time when you couldn't make it from the convention doors to your car without being approached by at least one glassy-eyed apostate holding a sign or thrusting a homemade tract under your nose.

My style would be more like, first checking about local permits, renting an "LED" sign (maybe tying some helium happy face balloons, getting it on back of my son's truck, park in a strategic spot to target, put rolling messages like: JW FALSE PROPHESY, (under that scroll) freeminds.org or: JW CHILDREN: ALERT! then scroll down 'silentlambs.org' or "BLOOD FRACTIONS.......CONTRADICTIONS!,,,,,,then scroll 'ajwrb.com' etc. etc. etc.
I know they are commanded to not go on the Internet,,but I think many would look at a sign like that with catchy phrases and memorable simple Internet sites versus on a small poster board and some would be inclined out of curiosity to check some sites..
Just an idea for the 21st century.

I think a good number of JW kids would possibly see this that are denied to be in organized sports who are very inclined and wonder how some JW youth get to pursue sports. I know for a fact a lot of JW kids grew up and are resentful they were denied to play organized sports in school extracurriculars when they had the qualifications otherwise. It may not be an issue to some JWs or xJWs who were not inclined toward sports anyway. I think it was a good issue to bring to YouTube. Thank you, Rick.

You all remind me of my father. Dating was pretty much not allowed and barely a JW would have been good enough. So it was clear that I would spare anyone and just not date. I faithfully pioneered 5 yrs, rarely dated. Went to Bethel for 5 yrs and married a Bethelite. Left for family life. Divorced 21 years later. He proved to be not a honest man in many ways. I fled JW land with my 5 children. He is in prison for insurance investment fraud now but still is totally loyal (?) to JW doctrine.

Congregation servant's daughter. Pioneer (5 yrs). Bethelite (5) yrs). Elders wife. About 30 yrs in all. Glad to be free of all that now, for over 20 yrs.

Suicides at Bethel
by CunningMan inin another thread (i forget which), someone mentioned that somebody committed suicide at bethel.
is this true and if so, how often does it happen?

I know there was one suicide also in October 1973. A young man I didn't know though.

Are you now involved in a different religion or structured group?
by feenx ini was browsing another post where wtwizard implied membership in another group, and was asked what it was.
that got me thinking...since coming out the society, has anyone embraced another organized religion or group, public or secret?
if so, what is it, and what made you join and continue membership?

I am like Jamie and OTWO. I can not join a religious group either. However a few of us have a 'Meetup" in Phoenix. We're really a diverse group, kind of like here only we get to eat something and have a drink too. Our agenda is support, non-judgmental, non-doctrinal and a lot of shared laughs.
