it takes a while to call WT a CULT
took awhile for me to use that "c" word also.
hmmm.... how many of you, in the process of waking up, got really angry with websites like jwfacts.com etc.. etc... even calling them slanders etc?
i think all of you are doing a great job, keep it on guys!.

i am new here and this is my first post although i have lurked here for a couple years.
i started having doubts about the org back then and my curiosity overcame my fear of so-called apostate websites so here i am.
i just resigned being an elder 2 weeks ago.
Thrilled for you!! Seems you are doing things the best way for you both..
About the "social need" for your wife. I see that often on this site. What else does she like to do? Dance, a sport, a hobby, classes of something? Any such groups for you both to do and meet others? Anyway, keeping a respectful, loving relationship matters most. Maybe you could ask her about things raising your child in the future: education, sports, positive simple endeavors for your child?
The thought like your dad's profound comment: He remembers being told that his children wouldn't even have to go to school but now I have a family of my own and he has granchildren. What does she think about that?
So many best wishes to you and your family as you all learn freedom of your minds and hearts together!
if you could categorise jehovahs witnesses into their various groups, i.e.
publisher, auxiliary pioneer, regular pioneer, special pioneer, missionary, co, do, bethel worker, born-ins, etc etc, (and you can subdivide into as many groups as you wish) what group do you think has the highest drop out rate?
i remember an ex ny bethellite saying that bethel cured him of the watchtower, and after reading the thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/160509/1/warren-schroeder-from-bethel-on-freddy-kline-and-the-apostate-books my guess is that it would be ny bethellites, but i am interested to know if there is a consensus on this, or on any other group, or no group at all..
Bethelites would be high also. Initially, most called are 19 yrs old males, and raised in. Now moving away from home, often controlling JW parents, they have to grow up and many now get a chance to think on their own, without Mom & Dad influence. Also, they get the insider experience of the "control" and leadership demands and contradictions and 'no love' reality.
Back in '71 or so, at Bethel, word was that most were not completing their 4-yr vow anyway and not just leaving Bethel but the whole works (Organization.) Not sure when, but Bethel dropped their 4-year sign-up down to one year requirement.
Auxillary Pioneers, signup has been dropping dramatically also in recent years, thus the 'bar" dropped to 30 hr. requirement.
i thought i marked these two threads for future reference, but apparently i did not.. #1) 2012 cdrom:.
i am looking for the cdrom thread.
also, is anyone willing to get me a hard copy of the cdrom?
I know it was said by GB Jackson about "70 checkpoints" about anything written by them. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/242261/1/Must-See-Annual-Report-Summary-Directly-From-JW-ORG
but I don't know where the original clip was
i know that people jump through all sorts of hoops to get reinstated, typically for family reasons.. if you happened to move to a different area, wouldn't it just be easier to accept some literature, study, get love-bombed, etc.
you could then switch congregations and fade and not have the df status anymore.. am i smoking something ?
i can't believe this has not been done before ?.
Quite a few JWs are "moving" many times over. Somewhat of a lifestyle. They blame "because of work." Many going into periods of 'inactivity" to escape it all. Many have avoided being "DF'd" that way for sure.
i was shocked i do not know why as i have read that the co's were doing this but to hear it with my own ears was unbelievable.
i do not go to the meetings but my husband still does and this week is the co's visit.
i decided that i would listen in to his talk; i swear i have lost some brain cells by doing it but anywho.. he started out by talking about the old story that has been in the wt many times about a little boy who was seven and raised a chicken and gave the money to the society.
how that dollar that little boy gave could have fed his family,
It is downright inhuman to accept or encourage a boy giving such money to an organization instead of him helping to feed his family. The leaders at the WTS and COs have no concept of making a living in the real world. Just how many COs get taken out to eat because many of them have finicky needs of foods. The Headquarters have no concept of the degree of cost of raising a family. How many had to use their credit card to make it to their conventions, etc.
The WTS leadership is a most incompassionate people!
so, 2 weekends ago, my wife is showing an apartment to a potential buyer in the financial district of san juan and walks the buyer over to the balcony to show her the awesome views.
the buyer looks down at a crowd approaching puerto rico coliseum (aka jose miguel agrelot coliseum) and asked my wife: "are those jehovah's witnesses?
" my wife looks down from 19 stories up, notices the "pioneer pace" of the crowd and says: "yes.
Interesting that there was "0%" increase of Avg. Pubs. and less baptized in 2012 in Puerto Rico. Will be interesting to see how their numbers do this next year.
It just seems that their losing their Branch would impact their zeal.
1) i wonder why (or how) the wts can claim copyright over the food it dispenses, given that it says the food is spirit directed and from jehovah?
surely the copyright should reside with jehovah himself?
can you copyright god's word(s)?.
They 'own' God and "Truth." Like their commodity, only through them can any 'tap' in.

I think that the WTS has found if they announce something even negative straight out, but with, hoopla energy, most JWs just "clap" and will 'think' no further about it. It is a type weird cult methodology that works for them.
i'm trying to put together a comprehensive master list of watch tower society branch offices that corresponds roughly with the figure published in the worldwide report.. i feel it would be useful to monitor the number and location of existing branch offices, because i believe the distribution of branch offices worldwide is a good indicator of the society's financial wellbeing.
we now seem to be entering a period of branch office closures, with last year seeing an unprecendented 16% reduction in branch office numbers over the year before.
it will be interesting to see how things develop moving forward, but i'm hoping that by keeping a list of the offices we will be better placed to keep track of the "retreat" if branch office numbers continue to dwindle.. here we go.... .
thx Calebs,,wonder whose next,,which next branch is getting "lopped?"
found this picture of the Puerto Rico Branch:
