It is so sad how many are stuck in the WTS created 'limbo.' - the 'no where else to go' syndrome.

My Encounter with a JW couple this Morning
by cantleave ini was shopping with nugget in sainsburys and i saw them in the bread aisle.
a couple in their late 70's / early 80's who really i do have an affection for.
he was an ms when i left, not sure if he still is, and she was just a very genuine person with decades of "faithful service" to the cult.. when i was a newly appointed elder, their grand-daughter had accused her step-father of sexual abuse, he was eventually df'd but has since my leaving been reinstated.

Last year the U.S. had a -2.4% (decrease) for the Memorial. They don't want a decrease again.

Always give the 'positives' of this life to your children. You have so much more to offer them. 'This' life is wonderful, interesting, fun. Demonstrate your 'unconditional love.' (You would never just cut them off, as JW children learn to fear). All the 'real' things are just a normal lifestyle that good parents show their small children, one day at a time. There are so many positive development programs for them.
The WT meetings only teach children to 'space out' and how to 'knock' on doors.
The WTS only presents 'negatives,' a 'take away' of the natural child. Their childhood doesn't last long. Give them their freedom of mind and heart as a loving guiding parent. Children don't need the fear of big "A" to do right.
I enjoyed the movie, "Not Without my Daughter" (true story) with Sally Fields. Of course, much more dramatic, but nonetheless, the mother saw a horrible religion being imposed on her daughter. She realized she could risk her life, but she was determined in discretionary ways to get herself and her daughter free.
Though your husband is "inactive," be careful, as often, some will reactivate, if they feel threatened. Many are 'stuck' there anyway.
Many best wishes to you and your family and may your 'flight' be not too bumpy!

Are the Witnesses Really Losing Their Young People?
by What Now? inthat article about jehovah's witnesses having the lowest retention rate for born ins keeps popping up every now again ... i'm just curious if any of you have noticed that this is actually the case.
in the congregation that i grew up in, i'm going to say that 95% of the young people in their teens to mid twenties are either regular pioneering, regular auxiliary pioneering, serving in foreign language congregations or where the need is greater.
both of my younger sisters are regular pioneers - and the young people in their hall even organize 8 pm to midnight service on friday nights of their own accord.

"service" ? do you mean a 'meeting?' I doubt that will last long,,what are they doing for 4 hours? did this happen once or is it a regular thing?

I suspect plenty draw the line if there was an "official" disfellowshipping or not regarding their family member. The "moving" away ploy keeps many off the radar of gossip or meddling. The one who moved away may help the active JW family who can then just shrug and 'skirt' out of questions and being put on the spot about their actioning. Some figure out how to keep their family business 'private.'

Raphael Aron in The Age newspaper: Jehovah's Witnesses 'a cruel cult'
by WinstonSmith inthis popped up on the age website today, might have to buy the paper tomorrow..... http://www.theage.com.au/national/jehovahs-witnesses-a-cruel-cult-20130315-2g5x3.html.

A spokesman for the church in Australia, Sydney solicitor Vincent Toole, dismissed the allegations and said shunning was a"myth."
This is an example of how the sly JW squeaks in their lies, due to their small-minded use of 'semantics.' They use the word "disfellowship," instead of the word "shun." But it only is a "you say 'tomato' (with long a) and I say 'tomato' (a- as ah sound) ploy. Their disfellowshipping 'practice' is the same as shunning 'practice.'

VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA | The Age newspaper | March 15, 2013 | Jehovah's Witnesses a 'cruel cult'
by jwleaks inthe age newspaper | fairfax media | friday, march 15, 2013. jehovah's witnesses a 'cruel cult'.
http://www.theage.com.au/national/jehovahs-witnesses-a-cruel-cult-20130315-2g5x3.html.
christian sect the jehovah's witnesses - with 64,000 active 'disciples' in australia - are a cruel religion with no soul, according to melbourne cultbuster raphael aron.. his warning comes as the federal government considers tightening the definition of a charity to prevent some cults and quasi-religions keeping their tax free status.

"There's no Moomba in the Bible either," he says. "And no football. Does that mean we shouldn't do those things either?"
Yet, the WTS has their intimidiating ways/comments to squash these times for sure also. Anything that is "fun" is cautioned by the WTS, well, because the word "fun" is not in the Bible either.

I need some advice please!!! I'm torn on what to do.
by Gojira_101 inthis morning i woke up thinking about a friend of mine, i will call her sara...here's some of the back story.. we grew up together and have always been good friends, even though we wouldn't stay in touch, we would just pick up where we left off.
sara has always been different, and i never really knew what it was growing up, but i didn't care, she was my friend.
so we lost touch for many years and then about 4 yrs ago when i went back to my home town, we reconnected.

Most gay individuals had to go through alot of personal honesty issues to be able to 'out' publicly about their orientation. I would expect she of all people would respect your honesty about coming "out" of the organization. If she is still 'stuck' about any WTism condemnation, you owe it to her to be free of it all.
A 'hello' from anyone in our past, I consider it a wonderful 'blast from the past."

Wow,,good for you and all the researching you've done. Yes, it does take time to unravel the knots that the WTS knotted up our normal brain circuit lines and patterns. But once we find them and realize we can value and gradually trust our common sense again or rightfully develop, then we experience a freedom of mind and heart properly.
Reading Steve Hassan books on mind control are great too.
Best wishes to you and your daughter. Thankfully the WTS didn't tear you two apart.

Re: 2013 annual meeting
by pixel inremember, you read it here first!.
dear brothers: .
we are pleased to announce that arrangements are being made for all baptized and unbaptized publishers who read and write english, along with their minor children, to be invited to locations where they can hear the 2013 annual meeting program that will be presented on saturday, .

Gayle
there will be no arrangements for the program to be translated into other languages, including American Sign Language.
when I first read that, I thought, it must be about masturbation. Made me think of the recent youtube globalizing on it by JW. Maybe they are revising that alot.
