The last circuit assembly I went to in the mid-80's, it was read that the congregation was not to "clap" when it is announced someone was now reinstated as now they were to "prove" themselves..all I could think of was the father of the prodigal son only having a party & rejoicing,,and here JWs were now commanded to not even "clap." This confirmed the unloving, arrogance, and self-righteousness of the GB.

Would the WT club have mandated the prodigal son be shunned?
by LexWatson inthe prodigal son's father met him out on the road as he approached, put a fine robe around his shoulders and had rings made for him.
they had a big party as he announced "my son has come home!!
" everone knew he had blown his inheritance on liquor and prostitutes.. wouldn't the wt "arrangement" have mandated a comittee meeting to have been held to determine if they felt he was truly repentant and most probably he would have to had a period of time that he was shunned so they could tell the congregation "that situation had been dealt with".

Hello Madame,,thx for the info on the person setting up "e-jw" forum,,I am an advocate for personal "free" thinking,,not for going to something that "re-locks" up someone's thinking ability again.

ARE YOU UPSET THAT YOU DIDN"T GO TO COLLEGE?
by minimus ini have read of some people's bitterness because they were denied the opportunity to go to college.
during the 60's and 70's the society really discouraged any education other than what was necessary.
since the end was so near, especially around 1975, anybody that decided to go to "higher education" was considered very weak and unbalanced.

You bet!!!,,the young mind (and free time) is a terrible thing to waste!! Going later is more difficult, tho sometimes possible, depending. I turned down possible scholarships, instead I pioneered 5 yrs and Bethel 5 yrs (housekeeper),,at Bethel you could see ones there that had gone to college were readily accepted, like nurses, doctor, dentist, eye doctor, degreed accountants, and later computer engineers and lawyers were in an inner elite group there. Even the Society paid for Mr. Brady in Bethel Canada to go to law school, now a "king or something" there. Later, I had five children and left the organization in mid 80's and pushed college all the time. Now, four of the five are degree'd and another one will be done in 2 yrs; and the WT organization never got them. I am a proud mother and grandmother!!

I'm new....and I have a rant
by Faded-out inok, i apologize for this impromptu introduction/rant, but i am reeling right now and really have no where elso to turn.. let me start off by giving you a little history of what has gotten me to this point.
this post might be a little long, so you might want to dust off those .
reading glasses.. anyways, my parents were baptised as dubs in the pre 1975 frenzy to make it to the new system...if they only knew 30 some odd years later...suprise, we are .

I truly feel for you and understand your parental concern for your child. I am a mother of five (now a grandmother), and four of the five have graduated college and the fifth is almost halfway completed, none of them were baptized, as I left the organization when the kids were around the ages of your child. Their father, was mostly inactive by then, but still took them occasionally to meetings and would still try to preach to them pro-JW.
Is there a way you could request and agree for your child to wait at least regarding the baptism, say another year or two? During that year, really grow in your relationship with your child, encourage your child to really enjoy just being a child, have a lot of fun, maybe encourage a sport program, possibly using that for the child to avoid a meeting or two, or a mutual hobby, having good friends at school, encourage this child to have a goal of college, as the child is so intelligent- compliment that as much as possible (asking what occupational interest there might be and that you will ensure you will do everything possible for the child to achieve that dream), often express your "unconditional" love and that God has that kind of love for this child also.
Please keep us posted on your outcomes. Take care.

My favorite word in their purpose is "re-examining."
What a precious hopeful phase, a start, it's the beginning of "their" path,,it's a sincere way to seek to improve something important in their lives.
They want to find the "truth" within themselves, not "truth" blasted impatiently from others, not "truth" with cynicism or insult. No one could have talked me out of the JWs, it was a course for me from within, maybe too slow, but my course.
Hopefully most of these on "e-jw" will find the sweetness of their re-examination and will not stop.

IF YOU TALK TO THE MEDIA ON BLOOD, FOCUS/GET THIS POINT IN
by skeeter1 ini've read alot of stories on the sextuplets, and it's great to have the media reporting 'bad' light on the no-blood policy & jws in general.
but, we need to ramp it up.
the media is missing the big story - the fraction lie.

They say can't take whole blood but little fraction parts, okay!?
Kinda like can't steal the whole thing, but in little parts, it's okay?!
ABSURD!! The whole WT doctrine(s)!! (In whole and in part!)

Letters from readers - National Post
by Toronto_Guy inits been a while since i posted here...hope everyone is well.. some in canada may read the national post newspaper...friday they had an editorial entitled "halfway between religion and cult", discussing the blood issue as it relates to the the surviving sextuplets in british columbia, canada.
i decided to respond, and to my suprise it become the "letter of the day", published in this weekend's edition of the post.
below is what i wrote.

To fifi40,
Thank you so much for your courage in sharing your experience. I, too, feel shame yet that I was in such a religious organization with this belief system on blood,,I shutter of what I myself would have done (or not done) back then for my own babies if it had presented itself. That's why I have no doubt about the extent of the extremely dangerous mind-control I was under then. Most of us must have this same shame but many of us see the need to expose the facts where ever possible. My spirit will not rest till the Watchtower Society drops this deadly, worthless doctrine of theirs!!

Any one of JWs would acknowledge, if a person died saving someone else (loved one or stranger), died sacrificing his life (including, organs, bones, skin and "BLOOD"), that would be considered absolutely wonderful, God-like unselfish, heroic, loving, etc, but then,,JWs say it would be an unforgivable sin for anyone to give just a minimal pint of their blood to someone to save their life. ABSURD!!!
