You never know how things can go! My dad was the (almost pounding on the table) father in the WT organization saying "as for me and my household,we will serve Jehovah"(the WT way),, so we kids obeyed, 4 of 5 of us pioneered and went to Bethel ,,grew up,,re-analyzed everything,,we kids were always very open with each other, even all going out around the same time, & wouldn't have ever reported on each other this re-evaluation. Little by little Dad kept coming around and as we talked with Dad (still an elder then) on our experiences and views (which sometimes ended in quite an argument) but he never reported on us,,then Ray Franz book came out & other writings & he read everything and was the 1st one disfellowshipped for apostasy, then one of my brothers was disfellowshipped in the mid-80's. So my Dad & brother then went to the Phoenix Republic newspaper and the Religion editor did a "whole" page article on their experience. It was awesome,,I'll try soon to see about getting a copy of that on the Forum for ones to see. My Dad & brother were very public then, the others of us just quit going, not officially disfellowshipped,,but actually there was an unofficial disfellowshipping of the rest of us. We've so enjoyed raising our own children free from cultic thinking........so I say,,love and respect your parents ("forgive them for they know not what they do") try to keep the peace with your parents (and try not to get disfellowshipped at this point yet if you can), and keep growing yourself in your education, start planning your college. You have a better life ahead of you, I promise.

My Bethel Experience Part 17
by new boy inmore "odds and ends".
i liked lyman swingle (governing body member)......he knew when to curse at the right time.
i think, thats why i went to him, when i was having so much trouble with debbie's parents.......he seemed "cool" and down to earth.............he might have been bit of a racist though.. one time a self righteous (known as sr) new boy, went to him and complained about what he heard in the bindery..........."brother swingle" the kid said "i heard some brothers cursing, in the bindery!

I forgot about "Mr Frog",,he was a total nut case yelling, raspy like a frog, yes, always in the green suit,,maybe if there was "internet" then, he wouldn't have flipped out so terribly, & ms Margaret was always yelling out her window facing the 107 building which I could only hear too much when I was in my room on the third floor, Gilead room's section, that Bethel girls were assigned to initially in '69. Oh, the noise in the City was too much for me! Had to always where ear plugs to sleep. After about 8 mos, the housekeepers got new assignments for housekeeping & I got the 8th floor in the 124 building, which was the Bethel library and writing offices and about 6 rooms of Bethelites with seniority. Carol Combs informed me never was a "new" girl given that assignment, in a tone that it was really an extra privilege. So I was cleaning along one day in the Bethel library & Swingle comes in the library from the 9th floor where his office was & asked me "What is the name of that sweet little "N...." gal here in the Gilead class?".............I was sure I misheard, & said I something intelligent like "Huh?" Then he just restated it,,I said "Oh do you mean "L.P." he said .."yes, we're doing an article on something & thought we'd use her in a picture".. I was totally stumped because I had never heard a JW say that word and here he was of the "anointed" and later officially in the GB. Driving in the City, my brother (he did G-jobs, too, waitering & plumbing) & had a VW and he had to constantly shoo away guys at the curbs trying to clean windows for a dollar, which only made it worse,,if you thought you could give a dollar real quick to get rid of the guy, then only a couple more would just jump in the way too.

I think most JWs will be happy not to be offering the WT with those "study articles", I think most don't talk about those articles at the door anyway, I rarely did, I sensed none of those articles would be interesting to the public anyway so I usually talked briefly using an Awake article (maybe something about health or general (negative) world conditions.) I think the "mid-month" WT will be used to keep away from the public (& "apostates") to be more heavy-handed, controlling to existing JWs and they may try to enforce anyone there to not give any of that literature to anyone else and definitely not put up on the Internet (for us to get :).

by snickers infirst of all, i've been reading this forum for many months and have found it such a nice place!

Hello,
I am a proud mom (5 children-4 have college degrees) & proud grandma (4 grandchildren), 60 yrs old, still proudly working, left JWs 20 yrs ago, was raised in WT organization(pioneered 5 yrs Bethel 5 years). I just say, focus on your children now, you're not going to change your mom (don't lose your energy there).Old people don't change much, but they do get sick, lonely. They find as they really age (60's or in their 70s or so), most see the organization isn't really there for them. I have seen it sometimes how they gravitate back to their kids, grandkids, having a need stongly for them, tho still claiming they are still JW). Spend your energy for your children preparing them for their generation/life.

JW end time poll...............
by JH ini know that the dubs say that the end is close, but what does that mean exactly in their mind.. .
what percentage of jw's think that the end is less than 5 years away?
what percentage of jw's think that the end is less than 10 years away?

Does the organization still strongly encourage JWs going to "where the need is greater" like in the 60's & 70's?
Many sold homes and went "where the need is greater" and pioneer etc & returned broke, ill, discouraged,, only to be criticized by the ones in the congregation who never put their belief into such actions to that extent.
I compare the "organization" to a dragon that you must scratch its back constantly,,if you slow down or tire,,it turns on you!

How does the government allow a group an acceptable "RELIGION" status, that teaches parents to sacrifice their children's life for their belief?
If the government relinquished this status of a "RELIGION" for JWs, only unless WTS would quit teaching parents to refuse blood for their children, and otherwise require them to pay taxes on their book publishing corporation. I think, absolutely, JWs would stop teaching no blood for children in a heartbeat.. (I think many JWs would consider it such a relief)
The government has the power to do that. The government had a power like that with Mormons, and then the Mormons all of sudden had "new light" or "vision" (samantics) and then finally taught husbands could only have one wife.
