I sure like all our differences. Would have never thought that such a group could have come out of JWdom. Not all that same-o, same-o suffocating stuff that JWs have to put on.

If this forum was high school, how many cliques would there be?
by NotaNess ini might ruffle some feathers here.
we know in high school there is always a seperation of the students to a point, in groups or clicks... like the nerds, the jocks, preps, stuck up types, popular/not popular, druggies, bullies, etc.
so after months of reading everyone here, i know there would be groups formed among all the members here, if we were to be put into a gathering situation.

The Average JW WILL NOT Leave!!!!
by minimus inyou could have stupid new light every week published and the vast majority aren't going anywhere.
you could see proof of contradiction after contradiction right in front of your nose, if you're a witness.
and you still won't budge.. the reason: mental and spiritual laziness.

It becomes their little 'village.' They are use to it now. They think they know everybody there well. They think everybody there believes the same as they and cares for them. Outside, everything scares them: different beliefs, different goals, people happy with their lives, unlimited education, free-thinkers, people who celebrate life and are thankful for every day, people who don't have a need for 99% of the world to be destroyed.

Funny things you used to believe
by 5thGeneration inone of my classics was because the bethel printing room was so clean then it must be jehovah's organization.. now i realize, of course, that most businesses keep their operations equally clean.. doh!.

In '74, I was worried when I got pregnant that I may have to give birth to my 1st baby on a dirty old prison floor because the end was coming so soon & the governments could have us all in prison by then.

Wow, I am so impressed. Your 'unconditional love' of your sons you've proven is astounding! Your sons must be respectfully awestruck with their dad; to me, you win "Dad of the year" among xJWs. Hopefully, your wife will catch up with your personal growth for her sake,,she will gain so much, otherwise, lose so much. So many best wishes for you and your family.

My mom and Armageddon
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy mom called me this morning and in the course of the conversation i enquired about her boss' wifes health - she was recently diagnosed with cancer.
my mom told me and then launched into the whole, "oh how i wish armageddon would come" speech - "just imagine princess, how good it will be to see granny and grampa (neither of whom were witnesses btw) and how good it will be if people dont suffer "(refering to the woman with cancer - also not a witness btw) and so on - "oh how i wish you would come back" (somehow these other people will be there and i won't?
wtf?

It is so sad that for JWs to be truly happy, 99% of the world would have to be destroyed first.

As a Parent Out of the Witnesses, Are We Helping Our Kids Education ?
by flipper inchecked my other threads and noticed i had not covered this in reference to our kids, thought it was important.
so, how are all you parents doing ?
do any of you have children, in their early 20's who are pursuing their education, and are they doing well ?

Four out of five of my children have finished college and the fifth (via Marines & going on his GI loan) is one more than half way through. They have done it on their own through scholarships, grants and loans. I went to many community college classes just after JWdom when they were young, though I didn't get a college degree, I instilled their necessity to go to college. Their accomplishments have fulfilled me for what I was denied.

exiting the watchtower
by jacethespace inhi im new to this forum and am currently trying to exite the watchtower.for the past 12 months or more i have stopped going on the ministry.in august last year i stopped going to the meetings but depression kicked in and other symptoms and i returned to the meetings in april.i stopped going to the meetings again in july and did more research to see if this is a cult.but im having all sorts of symptoms.confusion of whats right and wrong, panic attacks when i go out, one minute i hate the watchtower the next i wonder whether this is the truth and wonder if ive been mislead by satan.i dont know who to trust and where to go from here.and none of my family was ever in the watchtower so i think they know somethings going on but they can,t understand what im going through.ive been in the watchtower since 1999 off and on, i finally got baptized in 2005 after what i thought was carefull examination of the truth.and whats worse is the elder i studied with when i came into the " truth" lives right next door to me with his wife, which plays all sorts of guilt trips on me and paranoia.

The WTS taught us to 'self-condemn' before we could ever criticize or question the WTS about things that were not accurate nor true. Your conscience is speaking to you. You must re-evaluate it all. It may take time but it will get sweeter. The WTS would rather you just be depressed the rest of your life..

freinds
by karter inhi all, been lerking for a few years now was a j.w for 38 years.. for reasons i may explain later i "burnt out and faded away" "checked out and left" " no regrets(they don't work).. ive read alot of stories and can relate to what your saying but was there anything positive you took away from being a j.w??.
for me it was the ability to communicate i'm in business when i go to quote a job i'm at ease explaining things and getting my point across.. what about you ??.
.

Gayle
I think your ability to communicate well, is just that, 'your' ability..the organization utilized your talent, did not give you talent. Not all JWs are good speakers & may never be. I think your communication skills would have come thru, even without the TMS of JWs. To me, we were all just good puppets on the knee of the GB. However, I will give you three "G's." One "G" for heartfelt sincerity &honesty, another "G" for analytical evaluation, another "G" for good post.
