Yes, I saw "the Village" cult movie.. I recommend you to see it if you haven't.. it had the bottom line of 'controlling with fear' to a group in an unreal world, surrounded by a real world.

Thriller Movie "The Village" must be based on Jehovah's Witnesses!
by Witness 007 inm. shamalan's movie deals with a village of "amish" type people who are too scared to venture outside the village since their "elders' tell them the forrest is full of demons.
they refuse to be "part of the world" and all medical care.
it turns out the village is in a nature preserve in the 20th century but the elders had bad experiences in the world and made up the demons to scare the young villagers into never leaving!

You don't sound arrogant, you sound beat down. You do sound like you could use the help of a counselor. Would your wife be willing to go to marriage counselor? Hopefully there is a way to negotiate.
You need to take care of your health. I hope you can develop a healthy interest or two for yourself. Hopefully, you can maintain a relationship with your children, although you said one was married so does that one talk with you? Please try to hold on, build up for yourself. Don't let that horrible JW world beat you down. Try to find a friend or two, on line here and hopefully locally. Take a class of interest. Be healthy!

The Governing Body's REAL critical date
by Doug Mason inrussell taught that 1914 ce would bring in an unprecedented era of peace.
in 1930, rutherford moved russells date of the parousia from 1874 to 1914. .
thus until 1930 not one follower had recognised the currently ascribed significance in heaven to the time that corresponds to 1914 on our earth.

90 years ago! JWs just accept that 1919 date on blind, ignorant faith. No one can understand it because it's so off the wall. But have hope. I was that way, just accepting (was JW at 9 yrs old) but eventually it becomes part of the stack up that eventually falls over.

I've read it. Some parts are funny. Much, though, is sad. However, it shows a reality to some degree or another for JW youth. Kids trying to figure their place within the Society and combine that fitting into the real culture that surrounds them (it's hard enough for youth today to adapt into just our culture and regular life). School through high school is encouraged by the Society, but sets up JW kids to not be happy there at school. They are taught that everything in the culture is bad to be destroyed soon, the kids at school are worldly, holidays worldly, everything is such a big issue of evil, evil, evil. It is overwhelming for children and they can't hardly have friends there. Quitting school is considered by many of them.
Most kids cannot handle it too well, and then especially if their parents don't do it very well either. Then, so many young people get married too young. Many are ill-equipped for marriage, expenses, etc. The divorce rate is at least as much as the national average. Then, if they cannot live up to the demand of JW life, depression causes many to give in to the overload and trouble sets in and they may begin to condemn themselves. Then, as they have been taught all their life if they don't keep up accordingly to the JW program, they think they become doomed also. Thus, the Society, I believe, sets up these kids, immature, to head to negative thinking and then to negative lifestyles.
It sounds like Kyria has grown and has found her true self better for her talents and fulfillment, without family or any friends of the past. I wish her the best.

Marriages made in Brooklyn!
by koolaid-man inthe watchtower organization has been playing matchmaker for years, matching up couples simply on the basis of the "truth".
often times little is known about the other person.
are these marriages really sucessful in their "spiritual paradise"?
-
Gayle
I believe divorce is higher among JW marriages than the national average. Many JW kids marry so young and so unprepared. Some are older getting married and however, still there is a high rate of divorce. Some have problems but the elders just tell them to make it to the meetings and go out in service and then all will be well. Kinda like the Catholic priests saying when their people come to them with their probs, their basic fix it to say so many Hail Marys and then all will be well. They have their superstitious problem fixers that don't fix anything.

Calling Young Brothers to Bethel while Kicking Out the Loyal Ones
by Ultimate Reality inthis week marks the news of two "young" brothers i know being accepted to brooklyn bethel.. this pattern continues to demonstrate the current "human resources" policy of the current gb.
while telling those that have spent the best years of their life, "we need you in the field", they continue to bring in the healthy, unsuspecting young brothers so they can be used up with nothing to show for it late in life.. at last year's d.c. there was an interview with a brother that had been "sent back to the field" some 4 months prior to the convention.
what was so sad, is that the brother was clearly alone, and perhaps scared, in his new assignment in a remote rural area with a congregation of 40. he had been accepted to bethel after high school, never pioneered, and had been at bethel for 30 years!

Bethel will soon just be a revolving door,,,,,"out with the old and in with the new".

Thinking about joining a youth group...
by Strider Arekksu inyeah... as the title states i was thinking of going into a youth group for bible studying.
since the jw organization kind of stopped that and moved it to like a 30 minute session at the school and other meeting.
they said it was for us to study personally or with our families.
-
Gayle
The Governing Body of JWs are so afraid of "independent" thinking. Youth would be more prone to come up with questions not easily satisfied by JW programing. Even (and especially) at Bethel, individual groups to study are not allowed any more. The GB are so afraid of "apostasy (against them)".

Answers to Bible Questions from the DC recordings provided by AuntBee
by insearchoftruth ini listened to this recording and wanted to provide a summary of what i have heard......in essence the end is here, keep on the watch, how can we tell the end is here, we tell you so, so keep on the watch....what about those who had incorrect expectations, well they were awake and watching, but mistook some of the signs, but the end is still soooo near.. .
the speakers pace is sooooo slow, even on the fast speed of playback, it seems to me to be slow.
he starts with an explanation on how they have a wealth of information available to them, and most of the questions they are answering come from the theocratic library, but one must be willing to do the research (i guess only amongst somewhat current publications, and of course only use the watchtowers information).. .

Gayle
And what will this speaker say 100 years from now and The End (armageddon) still hasn't come?
Probably won't have a good answer.
They'll just say then, it's getting closer.
