  Kung Fu films

  are you into martial arts films?

  at the top of my list of course is bruce lee, but i quite like some of the modern films, particularly stephen chow stuff like kung fu hustle or shaolin soccer.

  i don't watch them very often but i find them slightly mesmerising, even though they are mostly ludicrously far fetched.

  hello chumz on the board.

  nothing really to do with jwism but who prefers the american 'bourbon' type such as 'wild turkey', 'jim beam' etc or who prefers a fine single malt scotch such as 'glenfiddich' or 'glenmorangie'?

  i am not trying to stir up nationalism with this question but am just genuinely curious.. lfcv.

  Wohh! You sound like a proper Whisky connoisseur, i've never heard of that one. Is single malt scotch expensive in America with overseas expenses etc?

  i remember when the elders told us that it's not ok for a jw to be too ambitious.. wanting to have a big job, big house, lots of money, was not good at all.

  .

  prior to that, i always thought that being "ambitious" was something very good.

  Yes i've heard the JW Elders say things like this. But to me it makes no sense because take King Solomon for example, now he had to be the most ambitious man on earth at his time. A lot of his ambitions were of a secular nature i.e building projects, landscape projects etc. Now Jehovah approved of Solomon and all of these activities until his foreign wives led him astray, so doesn't this tell you that this JW idea is NOT biblically based?

  Yes thats one of my favourites aswell. Except i prefer it neat to get the full kick of that delicious taste. Theres a Balvenie Doublewood aswell, i think its matured in two stages in two different barrells.

  Interesting question. If your reading from the New World Translation then notice the name 'Goliath' is not cross referenced so it might be a different Goliath to the one David supposedly struck down.

  CO's talk includes drumbeat of obeying Jehovah's channel the faithful slave

  with mary's review of the april 1 wt study article and this weeks public talk by the circuit overseer on obeying the channel of communication that jehovah has provided through means of the faithful and discreet slave, things are really hotting up.. the co practically shouted that we had to obey jesus' representatives to gain salvation.

  this repetitive mantra of obey the channel, obey god's representatives, obey the faithful and discreet slave is really scary.. they have already replaced jesus as their old testament priesthood takes over, they have sidelined all non-anointed as "companions" of jesus, what more do they want?.

  this is getting increasingly like what daniel and his three companions had to face - worship the golden image or die.. is it me or has the drumbeat of obeying the faithful slave taken on a decidedly louder beat?.

  Yes totally agree. Its seems people inside the JW Org are unawarely worshipping the FDS when the think they are worshipping Jehovah.

  Good point! Yes they've substituted Jesus with their own Organisation. To me this is the Watchtower putting itself in a position of self idolatory.
