WE just had our baby boy!!!!!!!!!
by annalice inwell we now have a wonderful happy healthy baby boy ,as of march 30th.
not getting much sleep ,but oh well , he is a joy to have.so wish us luck, we have a 18 month old also, so this should be interesting.
so far my in-laws have not even come to visit or see him at the hospital or to our home , even though they have been told they are always welcome.

Sorry jeanV. Don't you just hate it when "the friends" don't listen to other people's comments during the WT study?
yes, especially when the conductor does it but it wasn't your case (you can't keep up with all the threads here it is humanly impossible) and I realise I did not express myself well, in fact I wanted to say that I agreed with your post as my thinking is the same as yours.
There's so much other crap in there too, I'm probably passing up some golden opportunities. Oh well. Guess I'll just plug my nose and dive in.
the Revelation Climax book was I nightmare when I was convinced of the truth, now it is a torture. I thank my kids for distracting me during the whole hour

Anybody have any experience or suggestions on how to bring up this point with believing dub family without my apostate horns showing?
OpenMind while considering the revelation book where it talks about angelic guidance in providing spiritual food because a couple of brothers where at the right place at the right time I tried to reason with a loved one saying, well then those that got caught while smuggling literature what should they say? no angelic protection? It did not work but maybe it will for you.
Can someone please either tell me what WT that was or better yet post a copy on this site for my records.

I had a freind that her mother was questioning the"truth" so her mother prayed and guess what? mormons knocked on her door!!!!!!!! So now she is a mormon.
I did the same, no one has knocked yet, what should I conclude?

I said exactly the same in Blondie's thread.
And it is true - ALL religions, Chrisitan or not, have exactly the same sort of stories.
That was a turning point in my thinking, when I started reasoning on the poor 6 billion people that do not know the truth and yet many of them I am sure are convinced their belief to be the truth. all of them having evidence of their truth, with either statistics or "supernatural" events or miraculous facts that cannot be discarded as coincidence, etc....
Well, was it because of angeilc direction that while pioneering the only people who I talked to were old men who knew more about the Watchtower than I did?
that is that downside of stating that certain experiences are due to angelic guidance, those not having them start feeling guilty (same as those not enjoying angelic protection start to think that they must have done something wrong and God is angry at them). The WTBTS is accountable for a lot of psychological problems among its ranks.

2007 District Convention to hammer apostates?
by yaddayadda inthis years "follow the christ" dc looks like it is going to be focused on avoiding all those evil apostates and their falsehoods, judging by some of the dc talks listed on the back of the june 2007 awake!

True, but you have to read the sentence carefully at a first glance it sounds like the tabulation comes for the NGDC
He said there had been a 20 fold increase in devastating earthquakes since 1914 - this despite a March 2002 Awake contradicting that.
So they have now admitted that they were wrong on that?
Not exactly. Check the site quoted by blondie http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/earthquakes.htm which is a MUST read, that says:
Awake! 2002 March 22 p.9
“Some say that any reports of an increase in the number of earthquakes are simply due to advances in technology, which enable more seismic events to be detected. … The U.S. National Earthquake Information Center reports that earthquakes of 7.0 magnitude and greater remained “fairly constant” throughout the 20th century . … Note, though, that the fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy does not require an increase in the number or power of earthquakes. All Jesus said was that there would be great earthquakes in one place after another. Furthermore, he stated that these events would mark the “beginning of pangs of distress.” (Matthew 24:8) Distress is measured , not by the number of earthquakes or how they rate on the Richter scale, but by the effect that they have upon people .”
This is still verging on being deceptive for a number of reasons. Firstly note how it says seismologists state that earthquakes have been quite consistent during the 20 th Century. Seismologists rarely use the term 20 th Century. What they do state is that it has been fairly constant over thousands or even millions of years. By using the term 20 th Century the impression can still be held by uniformed Witness members that the 20 th Century was more prone to earthquakes than those that preceded it.
So no back-pedalling, just misinformation (and twisting of statistics), the official WTBTS position is: no increase during the 20th century but increase compared with previous centuries.
The back-pedalling is on having abandoned certain sources like Geo Malagoli.

Has anyone been in one of the dramas while a JW?
by Nowman init probably was one of my few happy moments of being a jw.
my mom, dad, and i were asked to be in the modern day drama, think it was in 1988-1990 (not sure exactly).
i played a worldly girl named "dolly winters" who was considered a bold and brazon girl who eventually studied to become one of jws because of a good example jw that she went to school with.

yes, not many years ago. Nice experience altogether. Rehersals were quite funny (but tedious). I am not a good actor and was probably one of the worst on stage.
Dramas are one of the most mind control instruments of the WTBTS.

I can certainly attest to the fact that most JWs are indeed good-hearted, kind, and sincere individuals.
That is also my experience. However, when it comes to being kind to people that come to the KH, there is no doubt that more effort is put in the kindness for the objective of helping the person get a Bible study and eventually become a JW. This is done out of sincerity (at least that is how I did it) as most JW truly believe they are the only ones that will be saved, etc... for that reason you are normally shown just the good side and people are quite careful in trying to please you. I would compare this phase to courtship, you are shown the best side to be attracted. The dark side (even of single individuals) is usually discovered later (when you are already married and it is too late). it is just human nature, when we are selling something (even unconsciously) we work hard at it.
Wise words.Doing in-depth reseach into the Bible is very time consuming, and takes a lot of effort. Many people simply don't do this. It is easier to just study publications that tell them what to believe. This is where many people have been mislead by faulty Watchtower reasoning. I myself fell into this trap.
You'll need to do some research on your own. Don't just take our word for it. You need to be convinced yourself.
