Scriptures like that are one of the reasons that I don't believe the bible is inspired/written by an omnipotent deity (or any deity for that matter). To me it appears to be an outdated attempt on the part of a desert nomad to write a law book for his followers... nothing more.
Here we are in the year 2002, and a multinational book publishing corporation is trying to use the laws written by an ancient desert nomad to tell people what an invisible sky-god wants them to do when their child is molested.
Am I the only one here who thinks this is NUTS?

i had a very interesting situation at work last night.
without going into a lot of details, i ended up administering a blood product for a serious blood clotting deficiency, called von willebrand's disease, type iii.
according to http://www.medscape.com it is the most commonly inherited bleeding disorder, caused by inheritance of a quantitative or qualitative abnormality of von willebrand factor (vwf).

you all know what i'm talking about.
those horror stories that parents tell their children to keep them from doing something annoying or potentially dangerous (e.g.
"your face will stick that way).
I had a teacher tell me that if I swallowed gum it would stay in my intestines for years to come causing all kinds of problems. When I accidentally swallowed some I ran to her in a panic telling her I needed to go to the nurse so the gum could be removed before it was too late. She calmly told me not to worry about it!!! ACK!!! I thought I was dieing and she was acting like nothing was wrong - now that can screw up a kid!
Also, once while I was walking through the woods at my grandparents land with an older cousin, he stopped and pointed out a flower that "shot poison darts if you touched it". I backed away from it only to have him used his foot to point it in my direction making a zipping/shooting noise over and over. I honestly thought he was trying the KILL ME and started ducking and dodging!!! What is worst is that when I tried to tell the grownups what he did, they all laughed at me! What a cruel world! No wonder I'm so screwed up.

i was talking to one of my brother-in-laws about his time in bethel.
he put in about 5 years.. anyway, i mentioned the post about lyman calling the new black brother "nigger", and he also said that it did not surprise him.. but what i found even funnier was the experience he had with dan.
dan sydlik had been staying at the bossert hotel while his apartment was getting renovated.
To bad there were not "two or three" witnesses to that assault - er, maybe Mr. S. new that when he did it.

i am so bummed yesterday i called this guy i know and asked him out, and he turned me down.
not just a polite "i'm busy" but he let me know that his relationship with someone just ended last month and he needs time to recover, he said " i am taking the rest of the year off from dating" (sounded to me like "don't bother to ask again")i didn't even know that he had been seeing someone in a serious relationship (the last time i ran into him was in early december).
we used to have had a few classes together and he always flirted with me.

Why are you angry about his turn down? It was honest and legitimate - something that should be appreciated.
You should try being me! Women make up all kinds of BS excuses and lies to not go out with me. Hell, they are even so cold as to burst out laughing at me when I ask them out. You should try walking down the hall giving people a polite smile, only to be met with silence and averted eyes. Now that’s cruelty.

hi all,.
after almost a year of trying to fade out, they have come to my door encouraging me to be there for the memorial this year.. could you guys give me some strong valid reasons why this whole ritual is wrong in the first place?
maybe some counter scriptures from the bible.. i have a few in mind already but just wondering what you guys think.. getting ready for theocratic war hehe.

When I sent the JWs my DA letter, I ended it with a statement that basically told them to never contact me again. Perhaps you should consider doing this. With the exception of my family, I haven't heard peep from them.
