Christian Atheists, why did you throw the baby out with the bath water?
by Elsewhere in"i contend that we are both atheists.
i just believe in one fewer god than you do.
when you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why i dismiss yours.

Was Prometheus chained to a Rock or to a Mountain?
by Elsewhere inprometheus was punished by zeus after he gave humans fire and taught them the basics of civilization.
some say prometheus was the savior of humanity and raised us above the beasts.. prometheus' punishment for helping humans was to be chained so that an eagle would fly down and eat his liver every day and then every night his liver would grow back.
prometheus is immortal and cannot die, so he suffered like this for hundreds of years before he was released by heracles.. depending on who you talk to prometheus was chained to a mountain or a boulder... and this is the controversy that has many people divided.. i think it is vital that this controversy be resolved so people can properly recognize prometheus' sacrifice..

Dinner hand-holding prayer at someone else's house (or at a restaurant)
by Elsewhere in.
as an atheist, i do not pray, however sometimes i will go to someone's house or to a restaurant for dinner and the others at the table will hold hands and pray.. when this happens, i politely decline and abstain while they do their thing.. .
is it rude for an atheist to politely decline to participate in a hand-holding group prayer, or is the act of hand-holding prayer a form of religious coercion and itself rude?.

The Good Book: A Humanist Bible
by Elsewhere inan interesting new book was just released.
i received my copy in the mail yesterday.
it is based on many non-religious sources of inspiration around the world to produce a "bible" that is 100% secular.. while reading it i did find that it has a "feel" very similar to the bible in that it is written in chapter and verse with lots of metaphors and storytelling.. i haven't read it much yet due to not having time, but i did read a few pages and thumbed through it a bit.
