Honestly, I doubt that the WTS has the technical capability to embed a spy tool into the program.
The thing that would catch it would be a software firewall. Does the program require or request net access? If so, stay away, if not it doesn't matter if they are taking pictures of you with your webcam, they have nowhere to send it.
Really, their previous digital offerings have been really, really poor. I wonder if they outsourced this version overseas?

You may want to shake the brainwashing right out of his head, but keep in mind a few years ago he wanted most likely wanted to try to "save" you as well. Each of you is looking out for each other in your own way.
He's your brother and whatever the change in attitude is, you have a chance to associate with him again. If he's willing to accept that you're not a JW anymore, you might just have to accept that he is one. -

I found some books! What did you do with yours?
by SacrificialLoon ini knew i had some so i was looking in some boxes and found a few including the super deluxe nwt bible with the cross references.
on one hand i'm tempted to throw em all out, but on the other i feel like keeping them, maybe as some kind of demented memento.
on the other other hand it'd mean one fewer box cluttering up a closet.. what did you all do with your old err.. literature?

Funny story, for the past few years our house has been plague with Gypsy moths. We had moved from an area that was infested to the point that we could only put traps out every week.
Eventually we moved and were annoyed that there were a few here and there that we killed on sight to prevent the spread. After over a year and a half at our new house they would still show up 1-3 at a time every few months. That meant that they still had a nest around.
Searching high and low, we couldn't find it.
Until I started posting here, I had to look up a scripture for reference and found my wife's NWT on the bookshelf. I took it out and discovered the nest of Gypsy moths that were breeding in her bible.
I removed all the books on the shelf and no others were affected. I went and told my wife that I found the moth nest in a book on our bookshelf. She panicked thinking they had destroyed one of her rare turn of the century first editions. Humorously she was very relieved that it was only her bible that was infested.
Thanks JWD for solving my Gypsy Moth issue! -

Why Is There a Seemingly Large Percentage of X JW Jerks?
by XJW4EVR inthis is something i posted on minimus' "looked down" thread, and thought i would split it off into another topic.. so why is there a seemingly large number of x-jw jerks in cyberspace?.
longhairedgal wrote this:.
i know ex-dubs can be pretty bad.

No different than any online community. People on message boards are not a good example of how people actually act day to day.
I will lump xJW's into two categories though
Those that choose to leave
Those that were forced to leave
Usually those that choose to leave are level headed and open to other viewpoints. They have had to come to terms with losing their faith in the Witnesses and reconciled it to the point that they are calm.
Those forced to leave through often aren't afforded to reconcile their loss at their own pace and many get stuck in resentment or anger. I would say that these forums are usually quite civil considering how fragile the topic is that we all have in common. I have seen other forums that don't attempt or have the means to moderate posts that are hurtful and the climate is very different.
If you want to see a forum full of jerks, just hit up almost any area that allows interfaith debates. You will see people that are downright abusive. -

Things YOU eat, that other people think is weird.
by misanthropic inthis mornings events have got me thinking about things.
i love peanut butter, not the sweet kind but i like the old fashioned peanut butter, usually laura scudder's with no sugar or preservatives - it just tastes better imo.
i put it on everything including pancakes which are really good with peanut butter and maple syrup.

Talk on Apostates
by IslandBrother inhave you ever walked on the beach and tried following another persons footprints; matching your own steps with them as exactly as possible?
by calling ourselves christians, we have indicated our desire to do just that, to follow closely in the footsteps of christ.
have you ever noticed though that on a crowded beach, , there were several sets of footprints, many of them may look alike.

A sin against the Holy Spirit...
by Threestars incan someone explain just exactly what that does mean.
i was never able to get a straight answer from anyone--it was just some sort of horrible thing a person might do that would never, ever be forgiven.
i asked point blank once if it was apostasy and was told no.

The best I can remember is your heart condition at your death.
If you come to an intimate knowledge of Jehovah's organization and turn away and actively preach against it that is the ultimate sin. It can be forgiven as long as you are alive, but if you die in that mindset you will not be part of the resurrection since you have came to know God and denied him.
I'm not up on all the new lights so that teaching may have changed in the past decade. -

Wow, talk about flashbacks. I was expected to conduct the field service arrangements at 14. I didn't feel comfortable with it and made it known. Just because I was baptized didn't give me the experience. Initially one of the older sisters would wear a hat and just assign people to car groups and I would close with prayer. There was murmuring about that so I had to learn and hold the arrangements.
It was more embarrassing than anything, half of the group looking at me like I had divine wisdom, the other half sneering that they had to put up with this "kid". Lose/lose situation. -

I remember when they had the vocal set with the voice provided by one of the Governing Body. Nobody at the hall had heard it yet when they arrived so it was announced that we would be using this set for our closing song.
Everyone was really excited and the music drummed up... then the most loud, obnoxious voice overpowered the instruments and practically everyone in the hall. The brother on sound was frantically trying to adjust the settings to normalize it but couldn't do it.
Some of the older sisters sang along but mostly the whole congregation was either in hysterics or looking very uncomfortable. After the song the brother saying the prayer noted with a large grin: "Don't forget to pick up your own copy at the literature counter after the prayer" The snickers continued well through the prayer. -

Turn away from these wicked ways!
by Proud Witness inwell as you would have guessed from my name, i am a proud witness and i feel obliged to preach to you about the promises that our wonderful creator, jehovah god, has promised each and every one of us, of any race or background.
i know that you already know what he has told us through his word, but i am curious to wonder why you have chosen to jump off the narrow road which leads to everlasting life.
is it because you have had a bad experience in god's organization?
