as far as technology goes, i'd be surprised if the society doesn't capitalize on "podcast" style talks that will be played at local kh's.

it would take the crunch off the elder shortage and make sure the message is uniform.. .

Are Men's Rights Laughable?

reading over the woody allen thread i noticed a couple things but didn't want to side track the "discussion".

1) woody allen is creepy.

2) nobody really seemed to care that his ex-wife was abusive towards her children.. an example i think is perfect was the release of twilight where you would see lineups of 30-40 year old women making very inappropriate comments about a 16 year old boy.

my brothers initially said they wouldn't but then after trying to convince me to come back each of them decided to shun me instead.. were you or are you still being shunned by those who didn't leave?.

but they sure can avoid getting bored to death by it.. i was going through some old memory boxes i found this:.

i picked it up while i was still considered a good witness and knew enough to hang onto it.

later when i was trying to fade, i would show up a bit late to the convention and pin this on.. it's amazing what you can get away with having one of these pinned to your suit.. i would show up at lunch, say hello to the people in my congregation and they always asked where i was sitting.

Shunning is easy

upon reflection over the past 5 years of being out, i've had a lot of time to consider my time as a witness as well as come to terms with my parents shunning us.. that was the biggest shock for me.

contrary to most experiences i've read, my childhood, while focused on witness matters was still pretty happy.

our family always seemed to fall on "family first, religion second".

there is a very funny webcomic named the oatmeal.

i like to check on it and it makes me laugh.. about a year ago the author of the comic discovered that another website was ripping off his material and hosting it on their site complete with heavy advertisments.. true to the form of his site, he created a comic about it that embarassed the website into actually enforcing their copyright protection.. fast forward a year later, the website that was stealing the property hires a lawyer to sue the company it was ripping off content from.. the legal demand is taken, and broken down by the comic's artist here.

New experience as an ex-witness today

my wife volunteers at an animal rescue clinic and this year they were participating in the local pride parade.. we were invited to attend as well and it was a very different experience.

when my wife asked if i would like to go, i had to think for a second.

i am really not homophobic at all, but i confess i had never been to one.
