Hmmm... I don't agree. The text quoted from Genesis doesn't say anything about man not being created to die or not to live forever. If you read carefully, they were going to die because they HAD JUST sinned against God. So their death sentence was inevitable. They were to die because they no longer were sinless. Notice that it says "Now man has become like one of us . . ."

i was listening to the lecture posted here by alphaomega and sinutko quotes the 1967 wt, p. 262 with a very strong quote about 75. i went to the wt's cd-rom and looked up the reference and it reads entirely differently.
but, sinutko says he is quoting, not paraphrasing.. the transcript of the lecture has sinutko saying this:.

Sinutko may be right. I've seen it too many times that the WTS changes the wording of original watchtowers when they produce the bound volumes and the CD-ROM's. So the only way we would know for sure is to actually see an ORIGINAL watchtower not a bound volume or the CD-ROM. The reason why the WTS changes some sentences is because they're trying to cover up their mistakes and failed prophesies.

those of you that have been around the gb members on a regular basis, do they actually do the door-to-door work themselves, or do they mainly count the talks they give as their field service time?
Like it's been already mentioned, some do and some don't.
However, even the ones that do, don't do it too often because they have lots of other stuff to do and the WT considers their role of dispensing food at the proper time for the rank and file JW's more important than going from door to door trying to convert non-believers.

i've spent the last 2 months listening to talks of former and current jw's, reading, using the wt cd, going through my collection of watchtowers from 1879-1947 (which i do have on .pdf if anyone is interested) and books i've managed to not lose in many moves since 1964.. is there a .pdf of the 1969 the kingdominterlineartranslationofthegreekscriptures anywhere?
i got one as a gift in 1969 when was a little girl and after going through many boxes of publications i can't find mine.
i need it to collaberate some things i have heard and unless i can read it for myself i can't take someone else's "saying" that the kit says something.
I have the 1985 version of the KIT but I'd love to have the first edition since I hear the second edition was changed a bit. I've seen the first edition - the one with the purple cover - but it wasn't mine. It belonged to a sister who let me use it for like 3 days until I got my order of the KIT. Wonder where I can find a version of the first KIT?

No, they're not. And they're not "shot dead". Elijah was beheaded, remember? And Jesus identified John the Baptist as "Elijah". Also, Elijah is said to have been transported some place else. In fact, he's spoken of as sending a letter to the king of Israel after his supposed being taken to heaven. AND Jesus said that no one before him had gone up to heaven.

Adam not having a navel has NOTHING to do with being perfect. It has to do with being created. Jesus was born not created like Adam, therefore Jesus had a navel. And yes, Adam had nipples? Why wouldn't he? Eve had to have nipples to feed her children. So if she had nipples and she was created, Adam must've had nipples too even though he didn't use his to feed his kids or anyone.

" - this was jesus saying he had washed his hands of the jews - but was it the amharets (people of the earth) or the religious leaders he had given up on?
jesus later said that "your enemies would come with pointed stakes...and would dash you and your children to the ground" - indicating that 37 years after he died, jerusalem would be destroyed.
Had Jesus been accepted as the Messiah and had the Jews believed in him, I think Jerusalem would still have been destroyed. Think about it: The acceptance of Jesus by the Jews would have meant that they recognized someone new as their king. This, I'm sure, wouldn't have gone well with the Romans. Once the Jews have someone as King over them, guess what? They wouldn't have wanted to be ruled by the Romans. The Romans would've considered this a rebellion or rejection of their authority. So the Romans would've tried to have Jesus killed and those who accepted him as King.

"The name that will last forever" doesn't imply that it'll be pronounced correctly forever. It has lasted since it was first made known to Humans because it's always been known. Just bcz the correct pronunciation has been "forgotten" doesn't mean the name has been forgotten too.
