Advice needed.......
by fifi40 ini recently wrote a thread about my son who is being brought up in the jw religion by his dad, his dad and i share custody, so 4 or 5 nights of the week he stays with us............tonight i was taking him over to his dads (tuesday night meeting routine) and he was telling me about a school trip he is due to go on at then end of term..............he said his dad had filled in the medical consent form but had put no to the blood transfusion question...................i have been away for a couple of days and i usually get these forms first and i fill them in according to my beliefs not the governing body's...........anyway i said to him that if the school refused to allow him on the trip because of his dad saying no to blood i would do another form for him.............to which he replied that he wouldnt want me to and that his dad had said he would take him to alton towers (the theme park his year are going to) if the school declined to take him........ so where do i stand with this, does anyone know..............if my son required blood (he is a minor, 14) would my wishes over rule his fathers, would my wishes over rule my own son's (he is not baptised)???.
i also spoke with him about several other things, briefly summarised as.
1. just because you are taught something from birth does not mean it is right.. 2. i want him to check out things for himself thoroughly before he commits himself to the jws and i spoke to him about the consequences of getting baptised in relation to me and to any future thought changes he might make in the future.. 3. i told him jesus was not baptised until he was 30ish and that getting baptised in your late teens is probably not always the best idea.

3. I told him Jesus was not baptised until he was 30ish and that getting baptised in your late teens is probably not always the best idea. He asked me why so many do then? To which I answered that there is a lot of pressure from the platform and parents.
I think you will be getting the picture...............
So in light of this it is likely I am going to be 'invited' to speak to his 'devout' JW father tonight (about the things I said to Alex), when he brings him back..........any advice on what tack I should take......
Thank you in advance for your help

Is God A Mafioso?
by nvrgnbk indon yahweh: the "king" of the universeor consider the christian radio preacher, whom i heard the other day as he exclaimed that the bible says that, on the judgment day, all will bend down before jesus christ, some willingly because of love of his appearance.
others will be brought to their knees by an iron rod that will break their legs.
so the preacher pleaded, "submit willingly or have your legs broken.

What Do You Think of Lying?
by Sarah Smiles inhow many people trust elders?.
today an elder said,"elders lie because human imperfection!".
i said,"so your excuse is human imperfections for elders to lie, yet they disfellowship people on human imperfections all the time.".

I dont like lying or liars...............maybe sometimes we have to keep our mouths shut to spare another persons feelings.............but dont lie if it is going to cause upset and harm in the long run

Ermmmmmmmm....................yes, well I certainly do...............one of my best male buddys is a d/fed JW.............I met him not long after I split from first hubby and my d/fship and he was a great help and support to me during those first years..............I usually meet up with him about once a week at the pub, he has a wicked sense of humour and gets on great with hubby no.2.
And when I was first d/fed I actually went and saw 2 friends from a previous congregation who had been d/fed..............I dont believe in being told what to do by a bunch of loon's who have just chucked you out..........

Help me to always give 100% at work
12% on Mondays
23% on Tuesdays
40% on Wednesdays
20% on Thursdays and
5% on Friday.
And help me to remember.................When I am having a bad day and it seems that people are trying to wind me up
It takes 42 muscles to frown
28 to smile
And only four to reach out and smack someone in the mouth
Amen

Women and Men....Can they be 'just good friends'........
by fifi40 ini regularly talk to a poster on this board via the pm system...............mainly because i like his mind.......today he suggested in reply to something i had said that basically men and women dont do friendship.........he asked the question 'why do people even bother with each other if they dont fancy each others intimacy?
'...............not that he was suggesting this about us.........but i am just wondering what you lot think.. it has been my experience to have some wonderful men friends...........i love mens company and their conversation..........now i am wondering if all those 'mates' were/are after something else............well not really........i am pretty sure at least some of them arent.. so whats your view/experience.........can men and women just be good friends.. oh and to my friend who i pm.........this is not a criticism of you.........i am interested in what others experiences are..........and i will give you a big kiss (on the cheek) one day when i see ya to make up for it.......... fi.
