Thanks, we all think we got God figured out, to me that is the remants of witness teachings still circulating in our minds and hearts. I truly get the feeling and belief when it all happens, there is going to be a lot of jaws on the ground and no one had it anywhere close. If we could easily figure it out, He wouldn't be God, He has always done things in ways no one could have ever figured it out and He will stay with the same MO. We are all in for a HUGE shock!!!!!

Don't most Christians believe that those that don't believe in God as taught in the Bible and that don't accept Jesus as their personal savior will perish violently when He returns?

I would presume to say you are right, however what most if not all of us who claim to be Christians dont take in consideration is that NO ONE knows God's mind, yes the scriptures do say certain things that would lend one to believe your claim as highlighted above, but whatever God is going to do, no one is going to stop and as Abraham came to appreciate, in Gen 18:25

25 Surely you wouldn’t do such a thing, destroying the righteous along with the wicked. Why, you would be treating the righteous and the wicked exactly the same! Surely you wouldn’t do that! Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?”

There is a huge difference between someone who us truly wicked and people who are so scarred, disillusioned or whatever that God can read the heart and determine who is truly righteous. Religion loves to judge, as one does this either individually or organizationally, they are setting themselves as God and removing Christ from his "appointed" throne. We can have our thinking or feelings, but truly only God and Christ knows the heart and why we act, speak, think or motivated in the way we are. Best not to be making spandex comments. Either way!!!! I for one will let it in God's hands, I am not fit to judge myself yet along others. It amazes me how many still carry remnants of witness thinking within themselves. It really was and is a brainwashing and now for those of us that have left, need to do another brainwashing, for me the only way possible for that is to TRY and get God's thinking on a daily basis, fighting my own personal demons and the witness teaching for 22 years, it has taken time but I no longer see things as the witnesses and especially when it comes to the outcome of humanity.

Yes, I am serious, I know the scripture well, however, THEY are the judges not us, THEY will decide who is the real sinner and know all the circumstances of a person, their actions, their speech, their attitudes, their motives.

Not us, the witnesses and others (maybe not as much) all think they have it figured out who will get life and who will not, that should be one of he underlying signs of getting away from them.

We will probably all be shocked at God's judgements

Romans 11:33,34 Amplified

33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unfathomable (inscrutable, unsearchable) are His judgments(His decisions)! And how untraceable (mysterious, undiscoverable) are His ways (His methods, His paths)!

34 For who has known the mind of the Lord and who has understood His thoughts, or who has [ever] been His counselor?

Recovery of an Adult Convert (Reconnecting with Loved Ones)

it is my third year out and a heavy period of recovery.

speaking of which, i thought i was recovered!.

you know that as jw's, the rule is to stay away from anyone who is essentially persuading you to not be associated with 'jehovah's people'.

LS, very honest post, not easy trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together again and perhaps your reception will not be what you expect, either good or bad. If it were I and I had to do this a little myself with my family is, I came right out and was honest with them.

Do the same as your post, (be honest), tell them that you are sorry for your "Brainwashed, arrogant, selfish attitude" but that you were just that, "brainwashed" and that you apologize and there is "no place like home". Tell them that you want to be a part of their families and they are welcome into yours as well. Don't underestimate "family" the witnesses religion didn't and that is why they use DFing.

It may take time and there may be some who wont move forward, they most likely wouldnt have been very close to you either way. Start inviting others over and making yourself a part of their lives and continually point to the fact it was not their fault nor really yours, but rather you were brainwashed into this "unnatural" activity.

Dating a df girl who wants to go back - Do I have a chance?

having read some of the previous posts, i'm pretty sure what the majority answer will be.

my situation is similar.

we met a little over a year ago, she got df over her relationship with me, something that put her in a pretty long depression that she gradually grew out of (with some notable setbacks along the way).

Basically all of us and including your girlfriend, people do what they want to do.

Welcome and no you probably dont have a chance, but be patient and know that when you make your descision, it was based on patience and understanding instead of jumping the gun. But it will be harder as your emotions continue to get caught up.

God did not help either,

He has helped, it just isn't fast enough to everyones liking, in due time my friend. We lack so much wisdom and foresight as humans, just take a look at the world around us, we really dont know much! Technology wise, perhaps, but we dont have insight our constant efforts failing or BACKFIRING on us should tell us to be more patient. God will have His say one day.
