I think they are put to too much use already. Believing in a FD slave class and being led along takes away our personal obligation towards reading, studying and searching for wisdom, discernment, understanding, and everything else that King Solomon told us that we should do in Prov ch 2. If the Bible applies only to the anointed as it is their written letter from God (as they have stated) and we are all tag alongs, then we are set free from any obligation to apply it, to keep it, to understand it, to follow it. This is simply not true, it is God's written Word to MANKIND. We are responsible and if WE truly believe the Bible then it is our responsibility to do as Prov ch 2 says, not left to 8-14 men in Brooklyn relieving us of any obligation and use them as a cop out if they got it wrong.

Why aren't the 144,000 put to a greater use?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwe've been told that the 144,000 are providing the ''spiritual food'' and that there are a little over 8,000 of them on earth today.
every prayer that is ever given, they are thanked for providing the "spiritual food".. if that is the case ,why does the food(yum, yum) only come from new york?
why is the writing look like its written by sixth graders?

I thought I was alone
by elinor ini just could not believe it when i stumbled across this forum recently.
i was actually doing research for my dad who wanted to see the world's viewpoint of the failed 1975 prophecy.
he came into the truth less than three years ago and though my mom has been a witness since she was a teenager she never spoke of that particular time period to him.

The one that uses the Bible and especially the scripture at Micah 6:8
8 No, O people, the L ord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.Too many rules with man made religion, the Bible is hard to understand in many points and we should probably read it but don't get dogmatic about it, but really when it comes to what is acceptable to God, as noted above, the Bible is really easy.
Be good, do to others as done to yourself, be humble, be merciful, "I want mercy not sacrifice", believe in Christ's blood, faith in God, , the whole law hangs on two scriptures, love God and love your neighbor, it really isn't rocket science.
That is the religion that is acceptable to me. That is my kind of religion. Oopps religion is a form of worship based on man made laws, I really don't like religion, what I like is worshipping God based on His written Word through His Son.

As my sign in would agree, I believe the Bible is inspired of God, I believe the Bible and it does give me hope for the future. Do I believe that every word is EXACTLY word for word copied exactly as the original human writer or secretary wrote it? No, not exactly word for word, but I do believe that it is close enough on how God intended. I believe that one must get the spirit behind the Bible, there are definite commands that are very hard to misinterpret, there are principles that may apply in our personal circumstances or not and there is history. As one president said those who do not observe and learn from history are doomed to repeat it, so I try to learn from the mistakes of others (usually don't do a very good job of it). So I believe in asking God for wisdom in personal reading and study, I ask for Jah to give me wisdom, and to get the spirit of what he is trying to tell me on how it applies to me. As far as the laws, none of us are perfect and none of us can perfectly keep them, not an excuse for wrongdoing but really get the essence of the Bible and continually pray for insight and wisdom on us personally on how to understand it. Prophecies I do believe and I don't think any of us can foretell them until we are going through them or after it has passed, interpretation belongs to God.

A reminder on Shunning family members again in the January 15th Watchtower!
by Gill injanuary 15th watchtower 2007 'remaining steadfast when a child rebels'.
'when discipline is severe'.
'if your child is unrepentant and is a baptized christian, he may receive the strongest form of discipline - being disfellowhipped from the congregation.

Sad the whole Wt article and only one scripture and nothing written about family members and scriptural obligations. How does one stay compatible with honoring family members, loving our children and all the other obligations towards parents, children or mates when DFing comes into play, especially when not one scripture mentions it. How can the two be compatible, could it be 1 Cor 5 isn't referring to family situations?
Besides if you were to act on 1 Cor 5 you would have to DF every witness, I know of many drunkards, extortionists, I knew of plenty of witnesses who committed fornication and still were, many of greedy business practices and lying and when it comes down to it, don't all witnesses IDOLIZE the Wt instead of God? I don't have a problem with 1 Cor 5 of shunning but within the context of the scripture, if a person was truly trying to contaminate their congregations as they see it (the pillar of light), but not when a person just wants to move on, just wants to have a life, just wants to say HI to family member, just be HUMAN.

Do you have a hope for the future???
by winnie injust wondering, all who have left, are leaving, or are still 'in' and no longer believe.. jw's have the hope of living forever...paradise...etc.. what is your hope for the future?.
do you still think there is the chance of living forever...paradise...etc..
-
avidbiblereader
Yes I still have a hope and it is stronger than ever, I use to think of this hope of living forever on paradise earth but when you are in the Witness frame of mind you always doubt the hope, as the meetings and literture always makes you feel that you can never do enough, that you are serving a God who cannot be satisfied. Only after reading the Bible do I get the sense that no we can never really do enough but unlike the Witness I put my complete faith in the Blood of the Christ, and as the Bible puts it in Romans and many other places ch 10 vss 9-11
9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” [
we cannot earn life it is a gift for those with faith as the Bible says
As far as the place or where and when, again the Bible says in 1 Cor 2:9 9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.also in Romans Paul says that God's judgements and ways are unsearchable and who can know His mind. I don't know the specifics and I don't think it is really all that important, but I do believe that my Lord died for people like me and I know that I am a sinner worthy of nothing but only because of God's underserved kindness through His Son am I assured of life by faith not works, yes this is my living faith and my living hope. I believe this with all my heart and no I don't think JW's have the license on God and they are the exclusive ones to Chist's blood. That has always been a sore spot with me as far back as I can remember, that is arrogant and haughty thinking.

How long can a person hide?
by Amber Rose inhere is my dilemma.
i am grown and married but i stlill go to the same congregation as my mom.
my dad is not a jw, just my mom and sister but she lives an hour away so it is just my mom and i. as i have come to realise that the wts is 100% pure junk, going to meetings and hearing "the friends" talk has become unbearable.

Sorry to hear about your dilemna, so many of us have been there before. Go stand in front of a mirror and ask yourself
HOW LONG do you want to hide? Be honest with yourself and remember if you have already voiced this to your husband then you must be true to four of the four people involved,
First Jah which he already knows where your heart is already, nothing is hidden from His eyes and we know how Jesus felt about people hypocritcally doing religous activity. You cannot fool Him in which we have an accounting
Ps 15:1,2 speaks of those who will reside with Jah and it says
1 O Jehovah, who will be a guest in your tent? Who will reside in your holy mountain?
2 He who is walking faultlessly and practicing righteousness
And speaking the truth in his heart. If you KNOW what you are being taught is not the truth, dah.
Second your husband, remember the Bible says a child will leave father and mother and stick to their mate
Third yourself, how miserable to you want to become, how long can you ACT your allegiance, how long can you put off the inevitable if your Heart is not in it. If you are half hearted in anything it won't last, how long do you thing a marathon runner would last in a race.
Fourth is your mother, better to be honest than lie and know you are.
Also you know the statement you CAN run but you CAN"T hide.
Nike Nike Nike, get the point!!!!
