this is an interesting website that features new claims and discoveries about human origins.
i believe it has great value in supporting the view that human descent is not a simple 'adam and eve' situation and that our ancestors may have looked quite different from us.. neanderthals had huge jaws, more powerful arms and a bony browridge that may have made look bestial.
ugh. creation/evolution controversy. Boring. There is no real controversy, just loads of people who can't look a fact in the face, and who keep arguing in spite of plenty of proof they are wrong.
That said, I love reading about different human groups, and DNA, such interesting stuff and it is definitely evidence of evolution.

that's what my oldest son said when i texted that our little red hen, goldie, against all odds, hatched herself a chick tonight.

Chickens make the nicest pets. I used to have 30 hens. Friends called the chicken yard the "chicken ritz" because the hens were so spoiled. I didn't mind, they laid eggs for us all the time, and kept the bugs and flies down and were friendly and sweet. I had two Rhode Island Reds who would follow me around the chicken yard as I killed flies with a swatter. I would hold out the swatter with the dead fly on it to one of the hens and she would nibble it daintily and say "thank you" with a sweet little warble. Ah, sweet memories.
my wifes family has not really kept in contact with her after we left the cult.
i am the main reason but she never was a strong believer she just went with the flow as to not cause problems.
she has not heard much from her mother since the death of her brother 3 years ago.
to which I had to reply that I don't have a dog in the hunt but I really don't care if two men or women want to live together, its not my place to tell them how to live.

Turn your back on the wtbts and go out and live a great life. Make friends, get an education, make sure you get a chance to travel as much as possible before you settle down. Make a wish list of things you'd like to do and get out there and do them.

i do, and i hate it.
people (mostly my brother) tells me to not fear death and just to enjoy life and so on, but that doesn't seem to help any.
I went through a period of being afraid of dying. I went through a period of being sad that life is so short and death is forever. Funny, what helped is my practical nature (can't do anything about it, so don't worry about it), and the realization that if I'm dead, I won't know. I don't think about it much anymore, and when I do, I don't feel bad about it.
I hope you come to that point, too. You will, if you just think about it logically, and then get on with making your life more worthwhile while you have it.
i look at three forums pretty much every day, this one, a knitting/crochet forum and a weight-loss forum.
the weight-loss site has loads of useful apps, but the forum consists of posts by people who are mostly pretty young, self-absorbed and ill-informed except on a narrow range of information, mainly weight-lifting, working out, and starving themselves.. the folks on the knitting/crochet forum are extremely polite, politically correct, and obey rules very carefully.
other than that, there are some seriously creative people with amazing artistic talent that expresses itself in fiber arts.
I think West's designs are avant garde - I don't think people really wear them much, but his patterns are very popular. Knitting as avant garde art, I guess. I like the colors he uses, and the lines of his designs. I don't know that he's especially unique in his techniques, I've seen other stuff much more technical than his but without the spark and excitement. However, some of the faces his model makes -- or is that Stephen West? -- are a little creepy.

I love knitting socks, especially because once you "get it" you don't need a pattern. I learned the "tomato heel" recently and that makes socks so much easier.
It's nice not to be so damned serious and ready to condemn everything -- which is the JW way of life. I enjoy a little fluff. Or, as in the case of ravelry.com, a LOT of fluff. Fluffy fibers.
What did you think of Stephen West's designs? Some folks on Ravelry find his stuff a little bit weird and intimidating.
CC -- it is raining here, too. Lots of rain, but not 11 inches yet, unfortunately. We need every drop. My heart is a little sad, today. I really really really want to go for a drive in the rain. But, I don't have a car. Oh well, I'm getting one in May. Patience, soul, patience . . .
ugh, i saw them this morning, 4 of them piling out of the car in front of my house and going to a few "not at homes" across the street.
it brought up a lot of uncomfortable feelings in me and especially seeing a former friend who's partially related to my husband's family thru marriage.
i saw her out the window staring at our home and it gave me the creeps.
It is kind of creepy to see them, brain-dead soldiers in a mythical war.
i just heard the news that shirley temple has passed away , sad.. smiddy.
