Talked to JW's in Service Today (kinda long...sorry)

i was in my company vehicle and i spotted some jw's going from door to door.. i circled around the block and pulled over.

when they passed, i rolled down the .

window and asked the pleasant looking middle aged couple as they passed, if they were jehovah's .

7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.

i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.

i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.

What was your mild superpower?

i am in awe of the level of intelligence, wit and funnybones that alot of you posess.. which made me wonder, did you have a mild superpower while you were in?

for instance was it giving talks, commenting, research?

maybe it was pissing people off (a much underated skill).

Good memory, speed reader, so able to skim mags and give answers without prestudying. Gave impromptu talks when asked (sister talks of course, fake little demos). Best annotated bible around, cross-referenced in great detail. No one knew I did that sort of stuff out of tremendous mind-blowing boredom. When I left the wtbts someone actually asked for my bible. It was fun to say I had donated my books to a thrift store. Should have just trashed them.

you know you have been out of the organization for some time when no members of the present governing body were "ruling" during your sojurn.

i have tried to keep up with who is a member and learn a bit about each one.. of the current crop, i find anthony morris iii to be the most grating and irritating to listen to.

What's the greatest movie no-one's ever heard of?

Lars and the Real Girl is very funny. I read The Milagro Beanfield War but didn't know there was a movie. If you liked Lars, you'll like a couple of similar movies Troll Hunter and Rare Exports, both with that very funny subtle Scandinavian sense of humor. And there's a Canadian one I seldom hear about which was a very funny comment on modern society, called The Decline of the American Empire.

I don't know that I'm so smart -- but I do like knitting because it's like math -- I like figuring out the patterns, I like the calculations. I'm also the originator of the dullest threads in the world!
