I'm sorry to hear that. I'm at the age of burying my friends, too. And one of these days, they'll have to bury me.

Oh, you poor thing. Well, keep yourself from getting bored. I think you should develop a headache and have to stand in the back, walk around a lot, chat with the parking lot guys now and then to keep the headache from getting worse.
Or take notes. How many JWisms do you hear? What outright lies do you hear? What manipulative statements do you hear? What's the most outrageous thing anyone says? What's the stupidest thing you hear?

I have trochanteric bursitis -- it has been going on for about two years now, although the dr. said it would go away in a few months. Wakes me up at night and I turn over to the other side. I have it in both sides. I'm not sure how, but it showed in the x-ray. That pain is more on the outside of the hip. If you feel it deeper inside, it could be sciatica, arthritis, or a very tight piriformis muscle.

When a JW relative came to visit . . . .
by skeeter1 infor those of you who are shunned, it is in disguise a blessing.
becuase when you are not shunned, jws come to visit.
it is the most tiresome hosting you will ever endure.. for the first 2 1/2 days, it was straight talk about "jehovah", the "organization", the "bible", then, "how bad these times are", "can't wait to see someone dead in the new world" .

"Oh, I don't care about those things, and that isn't what I was complainign about"
Man, I wish you had recorded that so you could play it back to the uber JW one of these days. Tell your kid Hortensia thinks he/she is COOL! How smart to see through the bullshit so early in life.

Are witnesses the best behaved people in the world?
by speargrass55 inhi everyone, i was discussing with a family member recently and was encouraged to at least consider the benefits of being raised in the truth.
for example,i'm not a drunk, don't do drugs, respect others etc.
the point is i've found lots of nonwitness friends who have similar behavior.. growing up, when a worldly person does something good like help someone i'll hear things like "that's nice of him, for a nonwitness.

Should Passive Resistance Be The Weapon Of Choice For Those Stuck In The Watchtower Corporation Cult?
by frankiespeakin inwhat can a person do who is stuck in the watchtower cult movement but don't want to be shunned or disfellowshipped but want to follow a course of passive resistants, like ghandi did to the brits to get them out of control over india?.

In all my years in the wtbts, I saw a lot of people follow the policy of "do as you please, ask forgiveness later." Seemed to work really well -- it's the way to work the JW system. Do as you please. If someone calls you on it, go overboard apologizing and saying you didn't realize/know/understand blah blah blah. What can they do?

I just got to play householder!
by Laika ini was a little nervous and a bit dazed, i think i will do better next time.
he offered me the memorial invite, i told him i had jw family who would invite me and he got interested and wanted to find out more, so i told him i wasn't interested in the jw religion, he asked why and i said i find it too controlling.
he thought i was talking about moral rules so started on about how jehovah doesn't want to restrict us 'blah blah', so i pointed out that i meant they're not allowed to read certain materials which is wrong if it's as true as they are confident of.. he then went on about how satan uses false teaching to manipulate us and so we have to be careful of what we read.

You managed to make several points, in spite of his talking 75% of the time! That's pretty good. A few little darts into his armor, one of them might actually pierce through. Good for you.

I guess we need an over-the-hill gang on JWN. I'm retired, living at Mount Shasta. Would gladly have a cup of coffee with any of you, any time you cruise by here. Right off highway 5 so no excuses if you're going this way.
Meanwhile, having coffee by myself, thinking of picking up the little socks I'm knitting and getting on with it. Terrible brouhaha in the community garden today, still recovering from that. I was just a witness but it was pretty distressing just the same.
I never knew a community garden could be such a hotbed of gossip, rivalries, jealousies and just plain abuse. See, if you had a cup of coffee with me I'd have some good gossip about people you don't know!

Are You Raising An Introvert?
by darth frosty inits not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

Thanks for bringing back this discussion. I've always been highly introverted, and sometimes being in a crowd feels like being nibbled to death by ducks. Too much input, it makes me tired. But, I like people and like being around them. I'm occasionally misunderstood -- people think I'm stand-offish or arrogant, but I'm just quiet and prone to leave groups earlier than anyone else.
