Retired, live in a senior apartment complex, but don't feel particularly senior. I figure I have a good 20 or 30 years yet, who knows? I love retirement, live on my social security in a gorgeous part of California.

There are times like this moment I think of taking a train to my final destination.
So, do you want to run away, or is this a euphemism? I think you probably need someone on your side. I recommend finding a psychologist who can help you take back your life. It helped me immensely, and now, around 30 years later, I'm still grateful to my psychologist for all the help I received.
I'm sorry you feel so badly -- I hope you can find someone to be in your corner and help you figure out how to live differently so you could be happier.

by Terry inthree months ago i had to stop driving my car.
it wouldn't pass inspection and it would cost about $3k to get it up to par.. well, it's a 98 honda accord with about 179 thousand miles on it, what did i expect?.
.. i decided i would switch to riding a bicycle instead.. it has worked out fairly well.. i put about 10 miles a day on it.

I'm sorry to hear that -- it sucks to lose something so important, and worse when you can't afford to replace it. I hope you get it back soon.

Come on! Tell it like it is. People are LYING when they tell you, "I've read the Bible."
by Terry ingo ahead.

You know, Terry, you're an old poop-head now and then. Lots of people have read the entire bible, me included. Several times. That isn't the point, really. The point is, what did we get out of it? At the end I had a bible full of tiny hand-written detailed notes, and I cross-referenced my entire bible myself. It took a long time, I read all those cross-references, had little trails through the bible of arguments for all the JW doctrines. I was so busy studying the bible, I never took the time to think about whether I believed it or not. Once I got out of the wtbts, I had time to think about that and realized I probably never did believe it. But damn, I studied it!

Born In JWs: Were You Abused According to the CDC?
by ABibleStudent inchild abuse in the usa.
child abuse is the physical, sexual or emotional maltreatment or neglect of a child or children.
in the united states, the centers for disease control and prevention (cdc) and the department for children and families (dcf) define child maltreatment as any act or series of acts of commission or omission by a parent or other caregiver that results in harm, potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child.

It's complicated. I was definitely harmed in my childhood, by a violent non-JW alcoholic father. Very dangerous situation. The JWs contributed by telling my mother she couldn't leave him, couldn't divorce him to protect her children. My mother contributed by failing to protect us and by believing that asshole religion and abdicating responsibility. Add to that the mental/emotional abuse of a cultish religion, the constant fear of destruction by an angry god, etc.
Well, it's amazing that I'm at all sane.

Remember HotelKalifornia? He recommended I download and install CCleaner. It makes it easy to clean up unnecessary stuff, including unnecessary registry items and the caches in various browsers. It's free. It really helps.
I wouldn't uninstall IE. I don't use it but sometimes you need a backup browser so I leave it there.

OOOOH, I'm jealous. But, it's supposed to be on ABC on Aug. 24, so I won't be far behind you in seeing it. As much as I liked Matt Smith, I also think Capaldi will be a good Dr. Who.

Too bad the majority of the posts are so negative. Anti-depressants saved my life a couple of times. I agree with the comment about anxiety, sometimes that is the real problem. However, I think the anxiety drugs are the ones you can get addicted to, not the anti-depressants. I have taken Celexa for long periods of time with no side effects. Getting over depression takes a lot of work, you need to work with your doctor to find an anti-depressant that fits you. You need some counseling to improve your life skills. You need exercise outdoors as much as possible, and a decent diet.
Taking an anti-depressant can left your mood so that you can deal with life more effectively. Depression can be paralyzing, and it's painful. If you can get rid of some of the depression you can work on the other problems.
