Want to hear something funny ?
by troubled mind inmy husband just won the city wide holiday light display for christmas i am so proud .
just a few short years ago i was the one that put a strand of white lights around the porch railing ,and a couple of lighted deer in the yard ....that brought the elders around real quick (after three years of silence ) at that time my husband was still holding onto the notion his faith was not bond to a cult .
it didn't take long after the 'loving sheparding call' for him to see things in another light.

That's pretty interesting. I'm glad he wants to "dilute" their exposure to the wt crap. However, JWs can be devious and the poor kids are brainwashed already.

life after the wtbts
by Hortensia inyou can't move forward to a new, more interesting, possibly much happier life, if you're still looking behind at the former life.. there is so much obsession on here about what the wtbts is doing, and discussing all the forms of injustice and bullshit in the wtbts, or how to bring down the wtbts.
yes, their doctrines are crazy and they are a cult and cruel to boot.
move on.

There is so much obsession on here about what the wtbts is doing, and discussing all the forms of injustice and bullshit in the wtbts, or how to bring down the wtbts. Yes, their doctrines are crazy and they are a cult and cruel to boot. Move on. Learn some new stuff, stuff that is true and useful and interesting. Get some new friends. Get out in the world and experience what it has to offer. If you haven't already, start making plans for the future. Not just retirement. How are you going to really get the most from being alive? Certainly not by clinging with all your might to the past. Maybe you'll have to take that trip forward alone, without your friends or family. I understand the pain of that. But living inauthentically is also painful and a sad waste of a short life.
OK, opinion expressed. Feel free to disagree, call me names, whatever. I'm speaking from the advantage of 33 years out of the wtbts, and years of observing what ex-JWs do in their lives. You aren't really an EX-jw if you're still obsessed with their world.
Sharing my opinion is meant kindly, however you may take it.

It's mostly pointless. However, I do use it sometimes to quickly save a picture, pictures of hupa or yurok basket hats, for instance. I've saved quite a few to my pinterest page so I have them all in one place. A little more convenient sometimes than bookmarking a page. I save recipes there, too, that I want for future reference. But mostly, it's kind of dumb.

Is is Muslim terrorist cafe seige Sydney...hundreds of hostages! looks bad.

I just went to abc.net.au -- watched a bit of the news. Seems there has been gunfire, and some injuries. The whole thing sounds terrible, the hostages must be absolutely terrified.
No point in being PC about this. It's an Iranian cleric of some sort, with a history of violence. It may offend some, but it doesn't change the fact that muslim extremists are behind much of the terrorism in the world.
I say muslim extremists, because I do believe that many ordinary muslim people are held hostage by fear of retaliation from extremists if they oppose them in any way.

Maybe just tell him Bethel can be tough sometimes and if he ever needs to talk he can count on you. Make sure he takes your email address with him to bethel.

LisaRose, don't you love rain? We had 4.5 inches in one day last week, it was awesome. Fortunately all our rivers and lakes were low, so the runoff from the heavy rain didn't cause much flooding.
Had the party today. It was nice. 24 neighbors invited, 17 attended. Two were sick and couldn't attend and the others were out of town for the weekend. I had a visit from an ex-JW in Redding, so it was nice meeting him. He seemed to have had a good time, chatted with everyone, seemed to fit right in. I heard part of his story, but was busy too, cooking, etc., so didn't get to talk as much as we might have liked.
What I like about parties is seeing everyone enjoy the food, and watching them relax and start to chat and laugh. Everyone seemed to have a good time, lots of good conversations about all kinds of things, lots of laughing. I like watching the body language, how as they relax tension seems to leave, their bodies soften and they lean back in their chairs, the facial expression becomes more open and the eyes seem keener. All because the mashed potatoes were really good and they like the turkey and gravy.

What Will U Spend For XMas This Year?
by minimus ini think most exjws are frugal when it comes to xmas.
what is your budget for gift giving?.
-
Hortensia
Not much. I did a party today for my neighbors, turkey dinner with all the etceteras, but that's not expensive. My friends and I don't give gifts for the most part, but do some holiday cooking. I imagine my entire xmas budget is under $100.00.

can an unhappy married woman vent?
by sowhatnow ini continue to be saddened by the fact that i am married to such a selfish man.. i want to know if i am the only wife who has no say when it comes to using the house she lives in for activities including other people.. .
let me explain.. yesterday my daugher who is 35 got a new puppy for my grandaughter who is 13. today my daughter and son in law are going to help my uncle at a job, and my granddaughter wanted to spend the day here, my daugher said shed bring her and the puppy over, i laughed and said 'your dad wont have that, ill have to go to your house'.. after all it will 'upset' the 2 cats they will hide all day [like they do anytime someone including my grandchild is in my home] .. i already knew that he would not like it if she brought the puppy over, [weve had dogs so its not like he hates them].
he doesnt care if his grandaughter would have enjoyed playing with the puppy over grandmas house, where she likes to be for a change, and that fact that id like to see what my cats would do when they saw a dog for the first time in thier lives.. maybe id have liked to play with the puppy .. when i said to my husband that my daughter said she wanted tp bring them over he said.

You've got maybe another 40 years to go? And you're going to continue to live it like this?
I started over at 60! Moved 700 miles away from friends and home. No job. Managed to support myself until I could retire on Social Security. Now I live on my SS payments each month. I'm happy to be on my own, and free of stress. If you're 52, I'd say find out what your retirement options are going to be. Then do something, even if it's just a minimum wage job.
I agree you're depressed, which is paralyzing. Seeing your doctor is a good idea, and some good psychological counseling will help you a lot. It helped me, and I'm forever grateful I got the counseling.
