rantings on jw fellowship board
by gspradling ined-->some thrilling experiences that just goes to show jehovah knows:
does jehovah know what is going on, and does he help?
1. the bomb planted in the kingdom hall in australia, where one brother was killed, was meant to kill everyone, and would have; but the bomb rolled backwards so the force or the blast was away from the friends, rather than aimed at them

Most annoying Kingdom song
by Billzfan23 inmine would have to be "dark days are here!

looking at the other side of the coin, do you have favorite religious songs that aren't JW songs? For instance, I like many christmas songs like O Holy Night, and I love How Great Thou Art, and I have two cds that are just Ave Maria - one is a bunch of different singers singing a couple of versions of Ave Maria and the other is Ave Maria by different composers. I don't believe in any religion, but you can't deny that believers have produced some lovely music over the centuries. Modern religious music isn't much, as witness Christian rock and JW music.

well, some rather obvious lies are the creation myth, mankind being inherently sinful, 1914, 1975, millions now living will never die, armageddon, is that enough to start with?

Why did they not try to 'Save' me?
by AK - Jeff ini have pondered this question on many occasions.
when i began to have 'doubts' and began to 'question' some doctrine, and particularly the lack of christian love, very little effort was made to 'snatch me out of the fire' as elders are admonished to do.
i have always wondered why we as jw's would spend countless hours trying to start bible studies with 'wordly' people, while at the same time ignoring those who are moving away from dead center of the organization.

because they don't really give a damn. When I faded, it was a visible fade in that many in my former cong. knew I wasn't going to meetings at my new cong. Only one elder showed up, ever, and that was only to try to make me feel guilty because I had been his wife's only friend and now she had no friends. Eh, not my problem, you know? I was glad they didn't try to "save" me, would have made my exit harder. Just as glad to be ignored.

Back Surgery
by AuntieJane inhi guys, i'm asking for your support as i face a frightful event...back surgery.

One thing about back surgery is that it has been performed so many times that the docs are really good at it. However, I would also say put it off if you can, try ice and rest, find a very experienced massage therapist who can work on your low back pain - it's safe if you are in the hands of a good massage therapist. The thing about back surgery is most people who have one back surgery will have a second one eventually. I hope you can hang in there and feel better soon.

Strange days
by New Worldly Translation ini haven't had chance to post on jwd recently but reading some posts the last few months it seems that many friends on the board are going through rough times because of the jehovah`s witness cult.
my heart goes out to them and hope everything turns out well especially those who have been rejected by spouses, children and family or maybe have the prospect of being shunned if they act according to their conscience.
i don't know what`s going on at the meetings as i haven't set foot in one for 4 years but it seems jw's are being whipped up into another armageddon frenzy and are therefore putting pressure on ex-jw's to rejoin.

I'm so sorry - what you described is really abuse and sadism masquerading as fear of demons. I found out when I left the org. that worldly friends are much more loving and kind than any JW relatives. I spent some time really depressed, but it went away as I created a different life for myself. I wish the same for you.

what a great thread! It has been so long since I attended a meeting I really don't remember the songs but your posts have brought some of them back. I liked singing so it was the only part of the meeting where I had any fun. The songs were mostly very banal, the music pedestrian. I went to a convention at the Rose Bowl once with the CO and his wife. We had dinner afterward with a man who was a composer in Hollywood, but also wrote music for the JWs and had something to do with making a record of Jw songs - don't remember much of the details, just that it was a fabulous meal (evidently the 'brother' made a lot of $$$ in the movies) such as I had never had before, and he griped the whole time about homosexuals running Hollywood.
I also remember a different CO whose wife had been a performer in Las Vegas. She wouldn't talk much about it, except for a couple of funny jokes, but it was great to hear her singing at the meetings - a very pretty voice.

"-Do you want your children to grow up, being able to use their minds freely and making their own decisions--or do you want them to grow up with the legalistic and authoritarian indoctrination that comes with being raised to believe the Watchtower Society is "The Truth"?"
"Have you considered that very possibly your children themselves will be faced with this "crisis of conscience" at some point in life? That it may come after they've already taken the profound, organizational step of baptism? That it may come after they have created their own familial connections to others in this organization? That it may cause them the same degree of stress you yourself are experiencing?"
I agree, my first thought was for your children. Be an example for them - if you don't believe, say so, without drama. Just pleasantly let your wife go to the meetings, let her take the kids, tell the kids when they are grown up they can make their own choice too. Tell the truth, man. If your kids see you can stand up for the truth as you see it, and still treat your wife with love and respect no matter how she reacts, it will be the best for their young minds...
by the way, I'm OK with the drama, have indulged in some of my own recently.

jw's Honesty Leads to Return of Cancer Patient's Lost Cross
by rebel8 inthe dubs have this story posted on jwforum.net, probably proud that a jw was able to tell the media how honest she was.
i guess jehoopla works in mysterious ways, because the jw's honesty led her to return a cross a stranger had lost.
lol i just find that so ironic.. http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?aid=/20070321/news01/203210375/-1/business.

the narcissistic way JWs stroke themselves for ordinary human kindness is puke-making. I never noticed the narcissism when I was in it, but it surely stands out now that I have some distance. Of course they live in a prison of their own making, so they don't know that the rest of the world is full of people who can be pretty kind and helpful and loving just becase they are, not as some sort of advertisement.

I'm watching Dancing with the Stars, which I have yet to see all the way through, this season. Had tacos for dinner, chocolate for dessert. Can't remember the last time I went to the memorial - although I do remember how booooooring they were.
